Very nice place to stay in Avalon. Enough room so that we had space to be together for games and meals. The balcony with a view was wonderful. The rooms were large and beds were very comfortable. Location was great.
I loved that this property was centrally located to the Casio where the Jazz Festival was held and near all the main restaurants. No golf cart provided but not really needed. The property was clean but no air conditioning and the upstairs was pretty warm.
This was a perfect property for our small family of 4. 2 bedrooms down stairs and then living spaces upstairs. The deck and its fabulous view were a bonus. Home had everything we needed. It was within walking distance to downtown,. about 1 block uphill so keep that in mind. Property was clean and checkin-checkout was an absolute breeze. Will definately stay here again.
If you like glamour. This is not the place for you. It is very outdated. Think the 1980s. The positives is that it is very clean and budget friendly. Also, has an excellent location and beautiful views from the balcony. Everything is within walking distance.
I loved this cozy home. Only thing that doesn’t come with a golf cart it’s really needed for this home.but other than it’s a really nice cozy home it has games and kitchen fully stocked.
My family and I stayed here last week and loved every minute of our stay. So much so that we decided to stay an extra night. We will definitely be staying here again. Beautiful harbor view, great balcony, and the layout of the house worked perfect for us. Even with 2 toddlers!
The previous reviews are correct. The house needs some sharp knives for cooking. Other than that, this place is perfect.
Too far up Whitley for someone my age. Three televisions and none worked.

The heater doesn't work, so we were a bit cold. The toilets were loose and rocked when you sat on them. Neighbors were a bit noisy. Could see ocean from the deck and bedroom and was close to town.

Tired apartment
We enjoyed our time on Catalina Island but found this apartment tired - well used without much upkeep. The windows and screens were filthy and other areas needed a deep cleaning. We avoided spending time there except to sleep as the beds were comfortable.
Good property; a little more dated but it worked great for us ; it is on a steeper hill of the island so prepare to walk - views from the balcony and master bedroom beautiful. The second bedroom is a little more awkward because of the twin trundle beds and the queen bed sharing space. It would be great if they figured out a better way to store the twin beds when there is a smaller group using the house. We didn’t use the kitchen. perk: the fridge has an ice and water dispenser.
There was evidence of a previous leak on the ceiling of one bedroom, above the queen size bed. The day after we checked in, it became obvious that the upstairs toilet was leaking. There was a new growing stain on the ceiling. Notified property management about 6PM. The next morning the management company thanked us for reporting it but no repair was initiated during our stay. Couple in that bedroom was understandably uncomfortable. What exactly was leaking? We stopped using the upstairs toilet and physically moved the bed from under the leak. This had obviously been a prior problem that had not been properly repaired. We were uncomfortable and inconvenienced. Other than this BIG problem, it was a nice place in a good location easy check in and check out.

Huge disappointment- beware! Never will return to this place!
Walking uphill to the place, we passed a discarded mattress and washing machine about 20 feet from the front door- not a great welcome or area. front door is on street and entry (including handrail) was full of bird poop. opened front door and a wave of musty old carpet smell hit us in the face. upstairs was OK- view from terrace included rooftops with various garbage like insulation. washer setting knob broken on washing machine. downstairs bathroom door from master hits the toilet- doesn't completely open. shower water doesn't work- handle broken. only working shower upstairs, tv in master only hooked up to video cassette player! no cable. is there a tv? yes. working? not for us!
called management, spoke with young gal regarding some of above items, not helpful and said manager was not in but would call us when she got in, never heard back. loved avalon but would never stay here again- beware of the neighborhood -you are paying high price for old musty smells, broken items, non responsive management. very very disappointed. this place badly needs some upgrades to justify price in its location.

Good location, Broken down property
A whole chunk ceiling fell onto the bed in the middle of the night, hitting people in the head. The property management company did nothing to accommodate and was unresponsive to communication.
Great view and location. It had everything we needed and a washer/dryer which I didn’t know it came with. Plenty of space for a family. It could use some updating in the kitchen and bathrooms. We would definitely rent again.
The location is ideal, the surrounding environment is not noisy, the room is very warm, very suitable for family or friends

The property worked well for us—two couples and two sisters in town to attend a friend’s memorial.
The property itself was very good, overall, and worked well for us. The sleep sofa was not very comfortable, but that seems to be typical with those. We discovered that what looked like a small, single, extra bed in one of the bedrooms was actually a trundle bed, so we were able to used those instead of the couch for two people.
Communication with the rental agency was confusing, though. For example, we were given contradictory instructions regarding the check-in process. One email said we should go to their office to check in but another said we would be texted the lock box code and we could go straight to the property. One email said there was a $35 late check-in fee if we arrived after 5pm but another message said arrival after hours was available and there would not be a charge for that. And each of those messages gave a different phone number to call if we were going to arrive after 5. I sent an email—with copies of the contradictory instructions copied and pasted into my email—asking for clarification, but did not receive an answer.
What really alarmed me, though, was their request to email them copies of my credit card and ID; that would NOT be safe! I was able to check in, in person, before 5, and they made copies of my credit card and ID, but I wondered if I would have been out of luck if our arrival was delayed and I refused to send them my credit card by email? I’m chalking the glitches up to the confusing times we are in with Covid, but asking someone to email their credit card (with all the numbers showing) and ID is essentially asking someone to set themselves up for identity theft.
I read the reviews, good and bad before booking. So I kinda knew what I was getting into. The view is beautiful however the patio furniture is pretty run down. It was very cold and rainy during our stay so we had to run the heater constantly. The heater is very loud and makes some crazy noises when kicking on. Don't expect to sleep well if you have to use the heater. My biggest problem was the dishes. They trust that people who rent will wash and put away the dishes they use. This did not look like the case. People put away the dishes but I'm pretty sure they where not washed. I had to wash the few things we use. It was really gross.
I was very skeptical about selecting this property after reading the reviews; however, I am very glad I did. The view of the harbor was like "heaven right here on earth.". The condo was clean, comfortable, equipped with all the comforts of home, and nice neighbors. However, we did like the 10 am check-out. Yes, we highly recommend this vacation rental.
