For the best weather, visit between May and October, when the days are sunny and dry, and the evenings are cool, thanks to the chilly ocean breeze. Temperatures reach highs of 85 degrees in July and August, while the winter months see the mermaid's share of the rain, as well as several inches of snow, so pack appropriately.

You don't have to wander far from the amenities of downtown Mystic to get back to nature. With the river running through the village, scattered parks just beyond the center and a number of offshore islands a short boat ride away, there are plenty of spots to explore. Head over to Haley Farm State Park and adjoining Bluff Point State Park for hiking trails and birding opportunities on more than 1,000 acres of coastal land. Bike paths here connect all the way back to the village and are convenient for heading out on cycling adventures from your Mystic vacation rental.

Fly into T.F. Green Airport (PVD), the closest airport, located 37.6 mi (60.4 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you could also fly into New London, CT (GON-Groton - New London), which is 4.4 mi (7.1 km) away.
