We do our best to ensure you love your time here as much as we did when Kachi Ra was our home, and we pride ourselves on open and honest communication with guests. Questions? Just ask!

Air conditioned bedroom is the perfect place to get a good night's sleep at the end of your days exploring this beautiful island. Cozy, casual with rich mahogany surroundings in a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood full of mature growth trees, flat screen tv, wireless internet, and dedicated Netflix account. Screen doors and windows along with living room and dining area ceiling fans invite cooling breezes.

Kachi Ra (Kachee'-rah) is just 10 steps away from a great pool and gas grill on an expansive sun deck with loungers and views of Little St. James and Pillsbury Sound. The condo offers direct access to the Caneel Hill trail, a beautifully picturesque hiking trail that can take you to Cruz Bay or north shore beaches. (Note: this is definitely a hike and should not be seen as a reason to forego renting a car!)

Cooler, beach towels, and beach chairs are provided. Guests sometimes leave behind other beach amenities (snorkel gear, umbrella/tent, toys, etc.) but we do not maintain or guarantee these items.

Located only one mile from the ferry dock, Kachi Ra is a very short ride to Cruz Bay by car. Rental car is strongly recommended.

This is a very quiet, serene place. We are on-island owners who work hard to ensure that our guests truly enjoy their time here.

PLLEASE NOTE:

There is an additional guest fee for parties larger than two of $15 per additional guest per night and a $120 cleaning fee. Rates include 12.5 percent Virgin Islands hotel tax. By submission of payment to book your reservation you agree to the stipulations in our contract, which will be shared with guests upon request.

A rental car is strongly recommended. This property is not walkable to Cruz Bay, and taxis are not always available when you're ready to go!

The bedroom is air conditioned, while the rest of the condo is cooled by Mother Nature's breezes which flow through the screened-in windows and doors.

This condo is located in a residential complex, not a resort complex.

St. John is a small island, and small island living has its "quirks." Sometimes the power goes out, and when the power goes out, so does the Wi-Fi, water, etc. Power outages are generally infrequent and brief, not something to stress over, and a great excuse to relax by the pool or head to the beach! Because this is out of my control, I cannot guarantee uninterrupted utility service.

Great location close to Cruz Bay !! The property was just as advertised with all the right amenities we needed for the week ! Was nice having the pool right outside our door and the deck offered some nice views ! Communication with the host and greeters was awesome ! One note, we definitely recommend having a Jeep or similar to get to the property ! We really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future. Thanks !

Perfect Location and Beautiful Property!

What a beautiful VRBO! The location couldn’t be beat. Very close to Cruz Bay. The host, Andrea, was very responsive and accommodating. We stayed with 2 adults and a baby and the size was perfect. Very clean and well maintained and the view from the pool (steps off the deck) was amazing!

We loved staying here! It was clean and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed reading their kids books and doing the puzzle. The bed was comfortable and they have plenty of pillows which we appreciate. Its a quiet little gem and we hope to return one day!

Lovely location to enjoy all that St John has to offer

We had an amazing stay at this vacation rental in St. John! The accommodation was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable condo. Beautiful view

The condo is one mile from Cruz bay. We rented a vehicle and found it very easy to drive all over the island. The condo was well equipped with everything we needed including beach chairs, coolers, coffee maker, etc. beautiful pool and great view. I will stay here again.

Home away from Home

We truly enjoyed staying at this apartment. They had new furniture, a great location near the pool and excellent views. The bed was super comfy too. My only very very minor criticism is the kitchen is dated. But who comes to St. John's to be in the kitchen all the time! We highly recommend a stay here. We hope to return!

Goodlocation for the price.

The location of Kachi Ra was good. It was very close to Cruz Bay, downtown shopping and not too far from the beaches. A car is recommended. The unit itself was fine for the price. Could use some updating, but overall ourstay was fine.

Wonderful stay at Kachi Rai

We had the pleasure of staying in this condo for three weeks. Everything about the process was seamless. We were met at the car rental office by the greeter and oriented to the condo. The condo is stocked with anything you may need, from kitchen supplies to coolers for the beach. We could not have asked for more. Andrea, the owner, is very responsive when you have questions. The location is very close to Cruz Bay and an easy drive in for dinner in the evening, or Happy Hours in the afternoon. I wish we were still at Kachi Rai but we will have to wait until next year. This may have been our favorite trip yet.

First trip to St John,loved the view from the pool!

We enjoyed our 3 days at St John in this unit. It suited our needs, we enjoyed the location to the pool(just a few steps to a beautiful view)! The parking was fine,a learning curve for the first day dealing with the steep hills, but that is all of St John, not exclusive to this location. The condo had everything we needed, including great beach chairs that we used each day. The ac unit in the master is a nice touch to get a cool room while sleeping. The fans in the living room were helpful to keep the air flowing for our daughter sleeping on the pullout sofa bed. Plenty of kitchen tools, we cooked most of our meals. Overall we had a great experience!

Loved the pool and location

We would love to stay here in the future! It was easy to get taxis from Cruz Bay, and also from where the driveway meets centerline road. Our flight was delayed and we were unable to get our rental car before the last car ferry, but our greeter Joanna picked us up and gave us a thorough rundown. The next morning the safe malfunctioned and our wallets were locked in there. Andrea was very prompt in trouble shooting and came out to unlock it for us and reset it. We were very appreciative of her responsiveness. I wouldn’t recommend using the safe, but I wouldn’t take a star away because the place was clean, beautiful, and felt like a very safe area. The pool was amazing and the view incredible. Loved every minute!

A Diamond in the Rough

My family stayed at Kachi Ra 3/30-4/5/19. What a lovely condo! What a beautiful view. This establishment far exceeded my expectations. The kitchen is superbly stocked. Be advised that you will need four wheel drive vehicle rental to get to this property. The grade on the driveway is about 25%. Foot traffic is not advisable as the roads have no shoulders. Also there are hiking trails that abut the property but they will require more maintenance to be usable .While the surrounding areas are still recovering from Irma, the beaches are just awesome!!!! I have never seen water that clear blue! If you are a beach going Family you will love this island!!!

Great Getaway up in the Hills

My family of 5 (kids ages 14, 16, 18) loved this house. It was a short drive away from Cruz Bay. It was everything that was advertised to be. We easily slept 5 between the pullout couch, cot and love seat (my kids don't like to sleep together, but 2 easily could've fit on the pullout couch). We loved having our own kitchen since food is so expensive on the island. The back porch is also a great place to sit in the morning or at night! The pool is closer than expected. It might be a total of 10 steps away from the back porch. If you are coming from the mainland and used to normal driving, words can express how crazy the driving is to get here. Everything from driving on the left side to the narrow roads to the steep switchbacks. I love driving and thoroughly enjoyed all of this, but man is it crazy. I would 100% stay here again.

Great Condo Close To Town!

Great condo! I stayed with my wife and 2 kids, ages 10 and 7 months. The bedroom was large enough that the cot and pack n play fit, along with a very large bed, so everyone could enjoy the AC. The pullout would have worked too but we went with the cot in the bedroom. Plenty of room for the four of us. My son loved the pool. Very private. The neighbors we did meet were very nice. The location was great. About 5 minutes to cruz bay. In the pat ive used wifi to keep in touch back home, but it wasnt working. But I think thats just the way it goes on the island sometimes. Overall, Andrea was very accommodating and easy to work with and the condo itself was fantastic. Thank You!

Lovely place

This condo is beautiful. Very nicely laid out, only a few steps to the pool, terrific deck. Alex and Amy were great and did everything they could to help us out. My husband was sick (stomach bug) right after we arrived. And we couldn't get the tv to work. I messaged Amy and Alex and we tried everything but I guess the cable box was broken. The next morning they brought us up some Pepto Bismal and took the cable box. It was fixed by the time we got back from the beach that day. This place is very quiet and peaceful. When they say they recommend you have a car, BELIEVE them! it's a bit of hike from the condo to the main road, where you have to flag down a taxi. This place is great for a family or 2 couples.

great value for what you get

Overall we are very happy. It's not perfect but didn't affect how we felt at all or how much fun we had. There is a little road noise (I prefer to be a little more remote but that's just me), the wood on pool deck could use refinished, and the couch in the living room is ready for replacement. Our 10 and 12 year olds slept on the pull out couch (they were fine and loved the vacation but it could use replacing -- our oldest complained a little about it being uncomfortable the first couple nights). Everything else was great! The place has everything we need... beach chairs, coolers, gear, kitchen stuff, etc. Everything was well thought out, nice, clean, and we had an absolutely great vacation! The place is convenient to the cruz bar restaurants and shops. Easy to drive to beaches. St John is our favorite Caribbean island and this condo allowed us to have a great experience without breaking the bank. It was very affordable compared to other options... especially if you eat at least some of your meals in the condo. We bought groceries at Dolphin Market and Starfish Market. I would very highly recommend this place to any couple or small family looking for affordable yet comfortable option in St John / Cruz Bay.

Ted purchased this condo in 1999, fresh out of college. I (Andrea) met him in 2005, and it was here at this condo that we fell in love and started a family. We moved out of the condo in 2010 to better accommodate our growing family, and started renting it out short-term to accommodate budget-savvy travelers like ourselves, and we hope island visitors enjoy their time at Kachi Ra as much as we did.

Why they chose this property

The condo is located in a quiet neighborhood, very convenient to Cruz Bay and North Shore beaches. The condominium complex is home to a mix of long-term residents, condo owners, and short-term rentals. It's a peaceful place where neighbors look out for one another. Get your day started with a hike on beautiful Caneel Hill trail, which can be accessed directly from the condo property and will take you to sweeping island views, Cruz Bay, or north shore beaches. (Note: this is definitely a hike and should not be seen as a reason to forego renting a car!) You can't beat the pool right outside your door, great for a dip in the quiet morning hours or for a refreshing swim after a long day at the beach.

What makes this property unique

Ted works hard to constantly improve the condo. He handmade the gorgeous bathroom countertop, which evokes a nautical feel, and the wood shutters installed on the bathroom window for privacy. He retiled the bathroom shower in a gorgeous dark slate, and designed an all-new kitchen during post-Irma renovations. There are lots of little handmade touches throughout Kachi Ra that make it unique.
