Beautiful Break

Absolutely fantastic stay. Loved walking around the holiday park enjoying the views. The staff were lovely and the location was great - 5 minutes from the town. Will definitely be back!

an excellent area for those who love nature, Small but cozy cottage. A microwave would be useful. A barbecue. Personally, I liked it. I will come back.

The most perfect stay at Hillside View

Myself, my partner and our two dogs recently stayed at Hillside View and had the best time there. The hut was a brilliant size for the four of us and we had everything we need for such a reasonable price. The site itself was quiet, perfect for the relaxing pre-Christmas chaos trip that we booked it for. The views from the hot tub will be hard to top! There was also so much to do in the area, we visited Elan Valley for a long walk which was amazing. We took a slightly longer drive up to Hafren Forest which I would recommend to anyone, visited local villages such as Builth Wells, Rhayader and Llandridnod Wells. And after all the walking the hot tub was a welcomed treat at the end of the day. Just outside of the site we found a small shed selling fresh eggs and cakes, on our way home after the most perfect relaxing trip we picked up some goodies to take home. I cannot recommend Holidays Wales or Hillside View enough, the price was really reasonable for the time of year we visited and paired with the cold, snowy weather it was a perfect start to Christmas. There is nothing negative for us to say, we loved every part of our stay, the hut was warm and clean and really well sized. The only downfall for us was the 4pm check in meant it was getting a little dark by the time we were unpacking. There was the option to pay for an earlier check in and if we visited again this time of year we probably would do this just so we could enjoy the views and scenery and unpack whilst a little lighter. 10/10, we are already trying to organise our next stay!

Couldn't have asked for anything else, Except for on some websites it shows that there is a microwave and it doesn't Could be misreading for some but having been there before i wasn't expecting one

I can stay we have a pleasant stay regardless of the Storm Amy. This situation came up for some suggestions... there must be lights on the signage of the entrance because the postcode will not direct you accurately in the location. There is only 1 bedroom! The other bedroom was in living room converted bunkbeds/sitting area. If its children its ok but if 4 adults not recommended, not much privacy and peace as your friends walking pass you going to get food_water or going toilet. It would be helpful to have a microwave to easy heat food. At least a coat hook to hangs coats after a wet walk around the area. Place is clean and warmth and enjoyed so much the hot tub. Beautiful town of Rhayader and amazing view. Perfect for summer time! Recommended the place for family with 2 kids or couple but not 4 adults

We enjoyed our stay. The hot tub jets weren’t working too well but we made the most of it, the children enjoyed the tub. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Our second visit to the views, definitely recommend this Site for cleanliness, the views are amazing!

Staycation.

This is our 2nd time here as a family with dog and we again would come back. 2nd time also staying in the same lodge. Had issues with shower and electrics and the onsite guys sorted straight away, no hesitation. Great service and lovely conversation with then also. Location= stunning. Town= quaint. To Do= loads. Recommended to friends and family already.

Nowhere better to relax

A fabulous stay in a spotlessly clean and comfortable shepherd's hut. Cosy and warm with everything we could need. The enclosed garden was a huge bonus for our dog. The hot tub is a great feature and we were lucky to see red kites overhead whilst enjoying the valley views from the tub. Would have no hesitation in recommending for a relaxing break.

40th birthday trip away

The location was amazing, near to a local town and lots of attractions. The accommodation was lovely and well maintained. My only issue was we couldn’t use the hot tub the first night as had to be emptied and wasn’t up to temperature when we went to use it later. Apart from that would definitely come back in hotter weather.

Stunning place

Location is excellent, hut was immaculate, area beautiful, good value for money. Customer service really good. The place really has the wow factor. Spotless and well equipped. The views are just to die for, especially when you are sitting in your own private hot tub. So peaceful as well. Could not hear a thing when in the shepherds hut they are so well insulated. Really cosy and warm. Our dog loved walking around her own enclosed garden. Honestly could not fault anything about it. Will 100% be returning in the near future. Would highly recommend a stay at holidays wales Rhayader.

Wonderful Relaxing Stay

A wonderful relaxing weekend at Hillside. Weather was kind so we lit a fire and watched the sun go down after a dip in the hot tub. Our dog loved the enclosed garden. Everything you need in the cabin. Spotlessly clean. Very quiet and peaceful. We have stayed on this site for a few years now in a number of their properties and can't fault it.

Lovely little Shepherds hut in mid waled

We had a great weekend in hillside view; its in a great location to go and explore Elan valley and the dams, and only a short drive to the village of Rhayader to get essentials or a takeaway. We loved the hot tub and the enclosed garden for our dog. Beds were comfy and all utensils provided. Fantastic stay, thank you.

Gorgeous views, spotlessly clean, easy to find and a short drive to the local shop

We arrived late on Wednesday night, everything was lovely and clean and well presented. Overall very happy. Some suggestions to improve: The property needs hooks! Mainly for towels, bags, dog leads etc. There were none and it would make a massive difference. Near the hot tub too. Shower doesn’t drain easily so it’s a race against time to shower! A little bit annoying we had no salt and pepper either -perhaps Some sachets? And a sponge. We had to leave a pan soaking. We would 100% come back (possibly without the kids next time!)

Lovely place

Beautiful hut perfect location and spacious. Kids loved the garden and we all loved the hot tub. Everything was perfect and it was nice to escape to the countryside Kids fav place to visit was the pump ramps with their bikes in the town.

Return visit shortly after first visit

I feel so relaxed and happy at Hillside View. A fantastic location to gaze at the stars at night in the hot tub. Although there are other huts on site, the placement of each offers some welcome privacy. Just a very short drive to the awesome Elan Valley. Just perfect. This was my second visit in less than a month and I’ll most definitely be returning. Already recommending to friends.

Hillside View April 2024

The location is absolutely perfect with stunning views and only a few minutes into the town. The place was clean and the facilities were just what you need for a little getaway. This is our third time and we will definitely come back again!

Stunning location

I think the previous reviews have said it all. The enclosed garden was brilliant for our dog. Had the weather been on our side, we would have enjoyed sitting there. Never stayed in a shepherd's hut before, so weren't certain what to expect. It was warm, and plenty of hot water for showering and washing the dishes. They definitely need a new frying pan in the kitchen as it was very scratched and wasn't flat- so it made cooking a bit of a problem. We didn't find the seating area or bed comfortable, so there were a few disturbed nights. I also agree with another reviewer who suggested a mirror in the bedroom. My wife is 5ft 2 and had to stand on tip-toes to see the bottom of her face in the bathroom mirror! The hot-tub was clean and a good temperature. It was so relaxing to sit in it to watch the red kites and enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, the frame for the cover had broken, so it took the two of us to take it off and put it on. It also would have been useful if there was something nearby where we could put drinks that could be reached when in thre hot-tub. It didn't feel very safe to balance them on the corners- especially when trying to get off the steps into the water. Having said all that the views, quiet location, wildlife and convenience for the Elan Valley mean that I'd recommend everyone gives it a try. If we knew there was a comfier mattress, we'd definitely return. Did I mention the red kites? They were so close to us and amazing to watch.

Great little secluded stay!

We really enjoyed our stay in Hillside View. It’s on a lovely site with great views over the countryside. Close driving proximity to a little town with pubs, a shop and takeaways (if needed). Very clean accommodation with a few little welcome treats, which was a nice touch. Hot tub a really nice addition and the enclosed garden was great for the dog.

The Perfect Getaway

Good location to everything. Elan Valley 100% worth a visit. AMAZING it is dog friendly, garden is bigger than you think, our dog loved it, peace of mind knowing they are safe. Farm animals always welcome to see. Hottub/firepit are awesome accessories. My only feedback would be, with bookings could you look at attaching a site map to locate each cabin/hut. Name on gate isn't always clear esp if they are open, or a placard with a lodge labeled close by. But nothing major as we couldn't fault this at all. It was truly what we needed.
