Our stay at Mordros

Good location as property has an enviable position with view of St Ives harbour and directly above Porthminster beach. Added bonus is a parking space plus use of Spa at St Ives Harbour hotel. Welcome pack with crisps, biscuits, chocolate and milk in fridge. Bed was comfortable, lounge had lovely view and kitchen was reasonable equipped with essentials.

When we look for somewhere for our holiday we always imagine sitting with our cup of tea in the morning looking at wonderful views of the sea. This property has exactly that. A view of the stunning Porthminster beach and a view towards St Ives town. It's a short walk down to this beautiful beach (steep on the way back - it was good for our legs!) which has all the facilities you need, toilets, cafe's, activities. It's also well situated to get into St Ives town either via the beach or the road or take the train the other way to Carbis bay and beyond. The property is lovely with a cottagey feel inside. It has quite steep stairs so wouldn't be suitable if you have mobility issues but it has everything you need for your stay. It was very hot weather while we were there so the 3rd storey was quite warm by the end of the day. The only drawback we found was the noise from the road in the two bedrooms on that side and also the noise from the hotel which had an event every night of the half term we were there. Overall a lovely stay though, thankyou.

Lovely Mordros

I have stayed at this property several times but this was the first time with my dogs - it was perfect. The house is stunning, the views are exceptional & the location is superb. Beautiful walks literally on your doorstep. Stunning sunrises & sunsets which can be enjoyed from the panoramic view from the property. Easy walk into the town. Parking. Well equipped (love the slow cooker) also have to give a nod to the Tesco delivery drivers who were fab! I will be booking again

Perfect little stay

Me and my husband had a wonderful time here with our 3 children. The sea views were amazing from the house. It was easy walk to the beach where we went everyday and into St Ives main centre. Local Tesco was very close. It was in an ideal location. The house had everything we needed and was decorated so well. We had a lovely and comfortable stay here and would love to come back.

Second time around

Great location. We enjoyed gym passes. Heating didn't work draughty upper floor. Foul smell from behind the fridge turned out to be blocked drip tray. Many mugs were chipped.

Fantastic location and views, but room for improvement

We recently stayed at Mordros for a week as a family of four and, overall, had an enjoyable stay, particularly because of its fantastic location. The property is ideally situated, just a short walk from the town and shops, with gorgeous views across the bay and harbour. Having the added bonus of access to the swimming pool at the Harbour Hotel next door was also a real plus. There was a good amount of space for our family, and the property has plenty of potential. There are just a few areas where we felt some attention could make a real difference to the overall experience and help bring the property up to the standard expected. The exterior is looking a little tired in places, with a broken drainpipe and some deterioration around the windows. It would also have been lovely to have had the windows cleaned before our arrival, as this would have made the most of those beautiful views. Inside, we noticed a few maintenance and comfort issues. The mezzanine door in the living room was kept shut and locked throughout our stay, but the seal didn’t seem particularly effective and, with the strong winds during the week, the door repeatedly rattled and banged. The bath taps were also quite loose, so we decided not to risk using the bath. We found the mattresses very firm and not particularly comfortable. We also noticed there were no mattress protectors on the beds, which we felt was a little disappointing from a hygiene perspective, particularly when considering how many different guests will have used them. The beds were made up with flat sheets rather than fitted sheets, and these didn’t quite fit the double mattresses properly. The downstairs shower room is a good idea as a wet room, but the extractor fan could perhaps be more powerful. With no window, the room became very steamy and took quite a while to clear. The water also seemed to get everywhere, including the toilet and surrounding areas, making it difficult to use the facilities comfortably until everything had dried. A few smaller additions would also be useful, such as some larger drinking glasses or pint glasses (there were plenty of wine glasses!), a few more champagne flutes and an oven glove. As the property is situated alongside the road, there was also some traffic noise at times, although we appreciate this is something that comes with its location. We hope this feedback is taken in the positive spirit intended. Mordros has a wonderful position and some real selling points, but we did feel that a little investment in maintenance and some attention to the smaller details would really enhance the experience. Ultimately, for the price we paid, we were expecting something that felt a little more luxurious. Having stayed in other properties in St Ives for less, we felt there was a bit of a gap between the price and the standard of accommodation. With a few improvements, Mordros could be a really lovely place to stay.

Lovely visit overall. Cleanliness could have been better, a few grubby areas. No lie tooth speaker would have been good, along with a shelf or table to put things on in the downstairs bathroom. Bit of confusion re payment as third party rental. This needs clarification - ie no comms regarding final payment, I had to ring Vrbo then luxury xottages

Breathtaking Views

We had a wonderful stay in January, the house was warm, cosy and equipped with all you need for a comfortable holiday. The parking space is a little tight and the property is on the main road, but oh my goodness the views are amazing. There are views out over Porthminster beach and the harbour from every room, which are beautiful day and night. It is a short walk to the town centre with all the lovely shops and interesting places to eat. Another big plus for this property is the pass to the spa next door, what a treat after a windswept day out on the coastal path. My family and I would love to return to Mordros one day.

Stunning location and views!

A great property with perfect views of the bay. Once parked up we hardly used the car, a very short walk down to the beach and pleasant walk along the front into St Ives. The cottage has everything you need, the beds are very comfortable and you could spend all day sat with a drink enjoying the views from the lounge on the top floor. A great addition is access to the spar in the hotel next door, really enjoyable. Not a negative at all but be aware you will spend a lot of time walking up and down the stairs - and back up the hill! We walked down to the beach for a coffee every morning, great for keeping fit!

A cosy cottage in great location

Although this cottage has a quirky layout (shower room downstairs) with steep, narrow stairs, it provided a comfortable base for our week in St Ives. The views from the cottage are spectacular. The location is great (albeit on a main road) and the spa passes were definitely a bonus. We loved the coffee machine, with capsules provided, and our son appreciated the smart tv in the living room. Although I had added a special request to our booking for a cot and high chair (and emailed a few weeks before our holiday to confirm), these were not in the property upon arrival. However, I was able to contact a representative from LuxuryCoast who delivered them within half an hour.

Fantastic Stay at Modros

We had a wonderful time staying at Modros in St Ives. The location was absolutely perfect, making it easy to access the town and beaches. St Ives itself is charming, with its quaint streets filled with bespoke shops, cozy cafes, and fantastic restaurants. Everything we needed was within walking distance, which made our stay even more convenient.The house was just as advertised, if not better! The views from every level were stunning and made every morning feel special. The property was more than spacious enough for our group of five (three adults, a toddler, and a baby). While the internal layout is a bit unconventional—with the kitchen on the ground floor, two bedrooms on the second floor, and the living room, bathroom, and lounge on the top floor—it added to the character of the house and didn’t detract from our enjoyment. Be prepared for some extra stair climbing during the day, though!Walking back from the beach up the hill was quite steep, but we found that taking the route through the town offered a gentler incline and was much easier on the legs. Parking in St Ives can be challenging, and while the house has a designated space, it does require careful maneuvering as it’s on an incline and a bit tight.The added passes to the spa and gym at the Harbour Hotel were a lovely bonus and gave us a chance to unwind even more during our stay.Overall, Modros was a fantastic place to stay, and we will definitely book again. Overlooking Porthminster Beach the house is excellently located - only a short walk from town, and only a few minutes walk from the beach (although it’s a steep return journey from the beach!)The views of the beach/sea (from the kitchen, main bedroom and lounge) are incredibleThe other two bedrooms do hear quite a bit of traffic noise as the house is on the main road- that and the tight parking space are the only small negatives. We had a lovely stay!
