I was disappointed with the view and the vibe. I was expecting that this was right on the water and the view would be unobstructed. Unfortunately, It is the second cottage and so there was not only a cottage in our view, but also the car of the person who rents the first cottage for the whole summer. We still had a partial view of the river, but not what we were expecting. Also, because the other cottage had the shared firepit and dock on their property, we did not feel comfortable to use them. The one night that there was a sunset to see, we discussed making a fire in the fire pit, but before we did, they made a fire and had friends over with them. We did speak to the host about this, and he told us we should go over and use the shared items, but we did not feel comfortable doing it. Overall, the cottage was nice with cute decor. The bedrooms are very small, but I guess that is how it is in a cottage. Dave, the host, is a very nice man and easy to talk to. Sadly, I feel it was not what we would have chosen if we had seen the true layout of where this cottage sits.

It was great to meet you both and I am sorry the cottage did not live up to your expectations. I believe the pictures and descriptions of the cottage clearly show where the cottage in relation to the water (about 35 yards) and Cottage 1. The description also clearly states the shared outdoor amenities between the two cottages. On the fire pit, the guests in cottage 1 had one fire during your stay, so you had 5 other nights to utilize it by yourselves. For the 2027 season I am going to add a second fire pit. On the parking/view, I suggested to you that I would ask the guests in cottage 1 to move their car back so it would be out of your view and you said not to bother. I wish you the best in your future travels!

Great Family Vacation

The location is great, very close to both Cape Vincent and Clayton, with lots to do around the area. The kids had loads of fun swimming and snorkeling in the water. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend for a nice relaxing family vacation cottage.

Cape Vincent Cottage

Our stay in Cape Vincent was as relaxing and refreshing as it has been over the past four or five years that we’ve stayed in this cottage. The area is very quiet, the views are spectacular, and the sunsets are breathtaking! This adorable vintage cottage is everything we need when we want to get away.

Great River Cottage

Dave was a wonderful host! The cottage had a great view of the river and beautiful sunsets. It had everything we needed to for our week stay. It had a nice little swimming area and a fire pit overlooking the river. Dave was even nice enough to let us dock our boat at his camp right down the road. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful location on the river

We enjoyed the cottage very much. Location near the river is beautiful with amazing sunsets. Cottage accommodated us four, 3 adults and one child comfortably. The bedrooms are small and there really isn’t any place for your clothes other than a few hooks on the wall. The cottage is well stocked and decorated very cute. We had a wonderful time.

Vacation by The River!

We were looking to enjoy a week by The River where we could not only enjoy the views but enjoy swimming and fishing. Which we were able to do here! We found our Host and Hostess to be very welcoming. We enjoyed visiting with them. The cottage is cozy and had everything we needed. The location offered all that we hoped. We’ll certainly consider returning if the opportunity arises.

Lovely Stay on the Water

The location and view are excellent. Our hosts were kind and helpful. Cottage is very clean and met all our needs. Appliances all worked. We spent a lot of time on the deck. The space inside was a bit tight for entertaining, but we managed once. Fewer knick-knacks on surfaces might increase overall spaciousness and function. We would stay here again.

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with your stay. We have never had any negative feedback on the beds or the seating. That being said we will take steps to upgrade these amenities. We will have new mattresses and a new Futon in by Aug 6. Although there is no conventional oven, there is a toaster oven and microwave oven. Thank you again and it was great to meet you both!

Still An Enjoyable Time

We thought we would be walking from our cottage directly onto a fishing pier ---- instead we had to walk past another cottage and people only to discover we couldn't fish there ---Only 3 to 10 inches depth of water at pier . Both grills were rusted beyond use . But All In All , We Had A GREAT Vacation

Hi Al, I’m am disappointed in myself in that I was not aware of the condition of the grills and had a brand new one delivered on Aug 18. As for the water level, it fluctuates during the season with higher levels early in the season and lower levels later in the season. Safe travels and it was great to meet you both!

Close to Hall family compound

If it is dark when you arrive. Call host for guidance. No number on cottage. Heather was ver helpful. Loved location to Carlton island & watching ships in channel. Grew up on the Hall Compound in the Summer with my dad, Doc Hall, 4 sisters and brother. Great location for fishing and sailing. Cottage had everything necessarily including towels & linens. Bring hangers if want to keep clothes wrinkle free on provided hooks. Enjoy the deck over the water. Mermaid beach is great for wading in the shallow water and then swimming in the depth. This place is hard to beat. Have fun.

Little gem with a beautiful river view

This little cottage is adorable. We loved all of the windows which surround the living space to look out at the beautiful scenery of the river. It was very clean, cozy, and we had everything we could need for our 4 night stay. One evening near dusk we used a kayak and canoe and it was wonderful to get out on the water when it was calm. The owners went ABOVE and BEYOND with their communication and hospitality, and the neighbors welcomed us as well. If you are looking for a quaint cottage with a breathtaking river view just a little bit away from it all, then this is your place. Thank you, Dave & Heather...We would love to come back in the future!

Beautiful, well equipped cottage with water view and very friendly hosts

We spent six wonderful days in this charming cottage in Millen Bay, right by the water as a family of four. The sunsets are indeed fantastic and water access is easy (we had three kayaks that we could launch right from the property). Snorkeling with the kids right from the waterfront at the property allowed us to see river bass protecting their eggs and fry. A little deck right at the water was great for enjoying the sunsets and witnessing river life. Lots to do in the Thousand Islands area beyond just the few days that we had available. To Clayton and Cape Vincent it’s just about 10min by car; Alexandria Bay, Cape Vincent and Sackets Harbor are less than 30min drive. We could easily have spent a few more weeks. The hosts Dave and Heather were super-welcoming and very attentive to our needs; they even invited us to watch a fantastic July 4th fireworks display in Millen Bay together. Unforgettable vacation for our whole family!
