We are glad you enjoyed your trip to Sur La Mer at Cape San Blas! We just wanted to clarify that the beach walkover is private for this home and is maintained by this owner. The only other people authorized to use it are the two new neighbors of the owner, not other renters. The walkover is gated with a code required for access which we provide with check in instructions. Hi! We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Sur La Mer! We did submit a claim. When we got the picture and report on the mirror, we followed up with the cleaning company and they reported that the same cleaner cleaned just prior to your stay and at your exit. As the rental company, we are obligated to our guests and our owners, so in this instance, we had no choice but to file a claim because the cleaner was certain on what was reported to us. The insurance company is an independent party and as you acknowledged in your email to me, they contacted you with the reported details of the claim, which included that report came from the cleaner, not the guest. They reach out to you prior to approving a claim, so that you have the opportunity to provide your input. They did approve and pay the claim. We do not make any profit from this type of claim, nor do we have any influence on or relationship with the insurance company. We take the time to do this to address items reported to us, as our owners expect us to do. We are sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused. We are very sorry for the low pressure water issue you experienced on Christmas eve. That was due to a hard freeze that caused a community wide pressure issue which affected the entire Cape San Blas area. It was NOT specific to Sur La Mer. This property had no burst pipes or leaks in the home. Lighthouse Utilities began addressing as soon as it was known and resolved it for the Sur La Mer area is under 36 hours. We have 16 other properties in the Cape San Blas area and no other guests left. You reported a "major force water situation" to VRBO. We communicated with you and in fact, did refund 3 of the 6 unused nights as a courtesy, but you said "that is not acceptable and I will follow up buy credit card company to ensure the trip is chargebacked as fraud and misrepresentation". Further, you threatened, "I really gave you the opportunity to do the right thing." We did not mis-represent, nor was there fraud. We cannot foresee or control a water utility issue that happened to the entire Cape San Blas area due to the weather, but we can and will vigorouly defend our beautiful property and concientious owners.
