Big Blue was absolutely perfect for our family of 6 (18y/o & older)! This was our third trip to LGI, but our first time staying on the beach. Big Blue has it all plenty of comfy space indoors & outdoors, convenient to the beautiful ocen water & gorgeous Gulf views.Terry & Pede, special thanks to you for being extremely attentive & helpful to tenants. You are both so kind, hospitable and made us feel very welcomed on "paradise island". We can't wait for our next trip!

Beachfront oasis

This house was in a great location and was fully stocked with everything you’d need at the beach (Chairs, umbrella, noodles, sand toys). The management company was quick to respond to anything that came up during our weeklong stay. The house is older and there are several wooden deck railings that were missing or broken so if you have young kids something to be aware of. Our only complaint was that the house was not clean upon arrival. Handprints all over the glass, sand on the floor, etc. overall a great experience and would come back.

Big Blue

The property is as pretty as the pictures, although the deck needs repair. It was a beautiful island with beautiful water. A real chance to get away. The check in process was easy. Food delivery was also easy and highly recommended. The trash removal was a chore. The most disruptive part of our vacation was when “friends of the family” decided to plant palm trees while we were at the house. They came over on 2 separate days, and there was no communication this would even happen. They took over the outdoor shower and wrenched the foot rinse. This property isn’t cheap and it wasn’t private. Planting trees could have been done another day when it was not rented. We stayed for 5 days and 2 of them were filled with strangers. The refrigerator also didn’t hold a cold temperature and the freezer was iced over. With that said, I would recommend LGI for anyone wanting to get away from it all. The ocean and sunshine were amazing.

We are sorry that the palm tree planting disrupted your stay and your stay was "filled with strangers". The palm trees were donated by a generous neighbor that morning BUT they have to be transplanted quickly to survive. It took no more than 30 minutes to plant them and perhaps another 15 minutes to water them. They came back again the next day to water, again for no more than 15 minutes. They were never in the house at all, only in the front yard. If this ruined your day, we are truly sorry. Refrigerators in most homes take a long time to cool down when you first arrive and put a full load of room temperature food into them. For this reason, we provide instructions in our House Book, suggesting that liquids and beer be left out of the refrigerator until it has time to cool down sufficiently, usually within several hours. Again, please accept our apologies for the 45 minutes that people were transplanting palm trees in the front yard. Had we known in advance that someone would give us free palm trees if we could move them immediately,, we would certainly have notified you.

You won't find a better location than Big Blue!

Renting a new place in a location new to us always causes a tiny bit of anxiety, especially when Little Gasparilla Island did suffer through a hurricane (or two) last Fall. But the house was just perfect inside and out. The interior was very nicely done, and the kitchen was well-stocked, which is important when all the cooking has to happen at home since there is nowhere to go out to eat on the island. But the peace and solitude were exactly what we wanted for a large family gathering to celebrate a milestone birthday. Communication with the property manager was easy through VRBO before arrival and texting upon arrival and thereafter. She is VERY helpful. Booking the ferry and concierge service from the dock to the house was a breeze. With 8 adults, our pile to transport to the island looked HUGE, but it all got there! Although there are more steps to get to LGI, TOTALLY worth it. We spent all day every day and evening on the deck unless we were at the beach. The gulf side of the island is unbelievably scenic, including epic sunsets. And hunting shells was the best we have ever seen...many shark teeth and fossils too! We didn't see many people on the beach, and we appreciated that feeling of privacy. We especially liked the fact that a neighbor has a commercial ice machine so we refilled our large coolers with ice every morning (let's just say we brought lots of tasty beverages). We are already talking about when we can plan this exact same family vacation again! Just do it!

Paradise is not lost It's right here on this island and this particular home' position on the beach gives you one of the best views of what a native natural historical beach looks like because that's exactly what it isStunning sunsets every night and a quiet tranquil vibe you just won't find anywhere else

perfect view

Place had a perfect view, great access to the beach , downstairs shower was perfect. The only downside was that the property was not very clean, sofa and floor was dirty .mosquito is a problem so make sure you take enough repellent and candles . Overall this property is perfect. There was enough detergent which was a plus for us.

Logistics are important

The Family RELAXED and experienced old Florida Charm and didn’t miss Uber Eats at all. We loved creating our family fishing tournament while fishing off of the beach, finding nighttime creatures like ghost crabs and scorpions with our black light flash light, cruising the sand golf carts paths up to Don Pedro Nature Preserve and tubing off the beach! Advice for first time visitors. Immediately upon confirmation of your reservation book the following Water Taxi - Pirate Water Taxi - Captain Emmitt is great. Reserve a Golf Cart -LGI Golf Carts - not required but makes life easier Book Brent to help with Arrival Day luggage from dock to house Grocery curbside pick up at Cape Haze Publix with Instacart and arrange to have LGI Evan Grocery Delivery pick them up at Publix, boat them to your dock, cart them to your home, carry them up the stairs and put them in the fridge and counter. It’s worth EVERY PENNY!

Peaceful!

A perfect location on the Island, almost like having your own private beach. The house is great. The deck, like most beach homes, could use some work. We had everything we needed. Great family vacation if you like beach and boating. Cleaning could go up a notch, but certainly was acceptable.

Thank you for your positive comments! The owner actually planned to do major deck renovations in the Fall but then Covid hit and he got stuck in Germany. We have repaired railings and replaced some rotted wood in the meantime.

Spring 2021

Are stay on the Island was wonderful. Only a few issues while staying at Big Blue. Coffee pot didn't work but was promptly replaced. A few other things too but overall a wonderful experience.

Big Blue a Hit!

Overall stay was good. Had a view issues with knives and pots and pans.. but we loved the island snd beach, and in January a sparsely populated area! Delightful two weeks!!!

Not Perfect, but Still Excellent

No vacation is perfect. Our stay at Big Blue was marred by 24 hours without air conditioning in house that was not built for summer ventilation. Property managers worked diligently and fixed the problem about as quickly as can be expected given that we were on a island and all repair folks had to come from the mainland. The location and amenities were all excellent otherwise and we enjoyed out stay.

Big Blue

We stayed at Big Blue on our 4th trip to LGI. We had 8 family members (4 kids, 4 adults) and we loved the proximity to the beach, screened porch, and large table where we could all eat together. The house was well-equipped (not as many staples as some houses we have stayed in but more than enough for us! For example, we didn't bring bug spray, ketchup, or mayo this time (our mistake!) We loved how many towels there were and the kayak was a welcomed edition that not many of the other houses have had. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend! 👍

Fabulous sunset views!

Our group loved the large screened porch overlooking the beach. The beach was clean and relatively uncrowded....and the house was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. Getting to the island requires some advance planning but once you get there, WOW!

Our unforgettable beach vacay

Living in Miami with 5 children we were looking for a quiet, peaceful place to disconnect. This beach house was perfect. We had an amazing and unforgettable time. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The location was perfect. After long days of shell collecting, fishing and swimming (the outdoor showers were so nice) the kitchen was great for preparing our homemade meals and eating at the oversized table on the porch provided us with the most beautiful view of the ocean sunset!! We will never forget finding several hundred shark teeth on our beach walks, and as a bonus, several sea turtles came in off the surf to lay their eggs near the beach house on several nights of our stay.
