Leder du efter at komme væk til bjergene med din familie? Tatonka Lodge er det perfekte valg for store familier eller grupper, der rejser sammen!

Vores brugerdefinerede bjælkehjem sidder på en privat 65 hektar stor buffalo. Nyd at se vores bøffel, når du kører ind eller er forbi om morgenen ved fodringstid! Kabinen er over 3500 kvadratmeter, masser af plads til alle at sprede sig ud. Uanset om du er på udkig efter pisterne på Cataloochee Ski Resort i Maggie Valley (kun 12 miles væk) eller besøger Biltmore Estate i Asheville (kun 30 minutter), er der masser for alle at gøre i The Great Smoky Mountains!

Tatonka Lodge, (indisk ord for bøffel), er ideel til store familier, der ferierer sammen, fordi vi har 2 master suiter, som hver har private døre, der fører til bagdækket med en fantastisk bjergudsigt.

Når du først er inde, vil du være ærefrygt over den enorme stenpejs i det store rum, omgivet af masser af opholdsområde for en stor gruppe. Du kan også være sikker på, at børnene bliver godt underholdt nedenunder i spillelokalet, hvor vi har et skakssæt i livsstørrelse, poolbord, airhockey, ping pong & fodbold. Nyd også en aften i vores 8-personers hot tub ud igen!

Børn vil elske vandreturen gennem skoven til det helt nye legeområde, BC Corral! Dette skræddersyede område har alt fra gynger, lynlås, glider, viskerbøsse, lastnet, klippevæg og endda en hesteskoskorp for voksne! Børnene vil elske det her!

Hvis du er på udkig efter en rolig ”undgå det hele” tilbagetog, er det her! Nyd lange vandreture på ejendommen, fiskeri på Pigeon-floden (inden for gåafstand fra bjælkehytten) eller tag en tur ind i byen for at shoppe eller antikvitere.

We really enjoyed our stay! The property is beautiful inside and out. It is also very clean. Had everything we needed. The hot tub broke 2 kids out in hot tub rash. The driveway is so steep, so we didn’t really leave. The folks who own the property are the nicest people. We really enjoyed our time at Buffalo Ranch!

We had a great time. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. They and the whole staff were very helpful and kind to the children. They really wanted us to have a good time. Would go back again.

The cabin was absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils, pans, bowls, coffee pot, toaster etc. The wi-fi was great and it had Dish network. The one lane road to the cabin was alittle sketchy but we did fine with a car and a minivan

Tatonka Stay

Nice cabin in the woods. Enjoyed the hot tub, camp fire and grilling out. Lots of games to play when it rained. Plenty of space for our group to spread out. We also enjoyed the animals on the farm, especially the buffalo feeding.

Beautiful Escape with views and plenty to do

This property was perfect for our group of eight—including our furry friends! Cheryl was fantastic to communicate with, and when we encountered a minor issue, she promptly sent someone to assist. The house had everything we needed and more, from the game room to the hot tub. We loved walking our dogs around the property and had so much fun seeing the goats, llamas, alpacas, and bison! I highly recommend this property, as well as any of Cheryl's other rentals. Buffalo Creek Vacations is truly amazing—we'll definitely be back!

A Spacious and Well-Equipped Cabin with River Access

Tatonka Lodge is a beautifully constructed, large cabin that offers a comfortable stay for families and groups. During our visit, we found that everything in the cabin worked well, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. However, we did notice that the refrigerator shelves were damaged and looked like they might break, but fortunately, we didn't experience any issues during our stay. Travelers should know that the access road is very steep and has potholes. This is a potential problem for standard cars. We also used bottled water during our stay as the water wasn't palatable for the members of our group. One aspect that didn't quite meet our expectations was the playground. The description of the playground was a bit misleading, as it turned out to be a tired structure with several broken swings. This made it challenging for my toddlers to safely use the slide. However, they had a fantastic time playing on the zip line. The standout feature of Tatonka Lodge is its access to the Pigeon River. During the hot afternoons, we spent countless hours playing and cooling off in the river, which was a delightful and refreshing experience for the entire family. Tatonka Lodge is a spacious and well-equipped cabin that offers a comfortable stay for those looking to enjoy the outdoors. While the playground may need some attention, the river access more than makes up for it, providing a wonderful opportunity to create lasting memories with loved ones.

Mostly great. . . some constructive comments.

The owners were great. (Ran out of review space) I've used VRBO for a Western NC Mountain Cabin probably 8 times over the last several years. Whenever you book online, there will always be surprises. Good ones and not so good ones. The good: Beautiful cabin, plenty of room, AC/Heat worked well. The property is very nice. The not-so-good: WiFi is essentially unusable. Had to use my ATT Cell HotSpot the entire time. For such a huge fireplace, the TV is tiny and very outdated. All of the kitchen appliances are on their last leg. Functional, but seemingly old. My "biggest" not-so-good? The view from the back deck? There isn't any. It's covered in trees. This may have been my fault for not noticing, but I go to the mountains for the long-range mountain views. You are staring at huge trees surrounding the back deck. This is the first time I've rented a house that didn't provide some firewood (need to buy it) and that didn't have a propane grill on the deck. The only "grill" is a considerable distance away from the deck, and it's one of those charcoal units you see in public parks. Didn't use it. I know you are "in the mountains" but the road to the cabin is pretty brutal. I have a 4WD, so not hard getting up the incline, but the huge potholes made it very uncomfortable and likely not great for your truck/car. Having to dispose of your own garbage is a bit of a hassle, but not a deal-breaker. Privacy - there are several cabins around you.

Great place to stay.

Such a great location. We had a large group of family and had lots of room along with lots to keep us busy. Game room in the cabin with pool, Foss ball and even air hockey. Kitchen was good size for cooking up some big meals and the heated floor in the 2 master bedrooms were a big hit. The ranch had bison, lamas and even got to hold a baby goat. Staff was super friendly and really couldn't ask for more.

Pleasant stay at the top of the hill

Heed the driveway warnings. The driveway is very steep but negotiable with a FWD SUV and car during summer months. We did spin tires a little to activate traction control. Property is very nice with plenty of room for all 10 of us to spread out. Loft was quite hot when we got there but cooled down by the next day. Covered parking area was nice for setting up outdoor games and hanging out. Location is not near anything but that's what we were looking for. However, it was a short drive to town and activities. There is a neat produce stand on 209 before turning towards Buffalo Creek. Check them out, wish we had seen it sooner. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great Escape

After camping for 3 days this was a perfect place to end the vacation. The drive to the cabin is steep so ensure your car has good tires. It was a short drive to Asheville, whitewater rafting, and downtown Waynesville was nice as well. Not to mention seeing the bison every morning was a great way to start the day!

Spring family trip

Tatonka lodge was a great place to stay with our family. The house is large, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of activities and outdoor space. Our kids had a great time visiting the animals, hiking to the playground, and seeing the model trains!

Fantastic as advertised...one simple upgrade will make it 5 Stars!

The listing was incredibly accurate and the cabin is well positioned on the property and laid out for a group of 8 adults. We loved the views...the decor...the evening sun on the expansive deck...and of course the hot tub. The animals on property add to the charm. And the location/ease to drive to the hiking trails, nearby lake and other points of interest was quite reasonable. The one glaring issue that can be easily remedied is the WiFi. We had checked with Cheryl if it would be capable for video conferencing and work remote/ZOOM lifestyle as we were renting the cabin for a week. She assured us it would be. Perhaps if only one person at a time needs the WiFi...for one-way video, such as streaming. Unfortunately it was not capable to handle reliably telework demands (several of us avoided the wifi due to a strong enough cell signal or own hot-spot). Ultimately after 48hrs we secured a hotel room nearby for those who had work requirements to have reliable service. The expectations would be if marketing for up to 14 people, the wifi should be able to handle at least half that demands. A simple upgrade for sure, but something other renters should be aware of in this new day of work-from-anywhere. If want to truly unplug or a traditional vacation, this cabin works perfectly.

This cabin was the perfect place for a family Thanksgiving! We so enjoyed the house, the property, the animals, AND the buffalo! What a treat! The playground was fun for the kids and they loved seeing all the animals. Thank you so much for sharing your place!

Enjoyed the property. Loved the house and the view. Mattresses were hard. Road was a little intimidating, but we are from the area and can drive on steep roads. We were there for a wedding in Canton. Worked great for us. Great grandson loved all the animals and playground.

Great vacation rental for large families. Enjoyed the buffalo feeding

We spent Thanksgiving week and our 50th wedding anniversary at the Tatonka Lodge. It was everything we wished for and more. Great family memories were made.

A Beautiful Location

Our family had plenty of room to roam and activities to keep us engaged at the Tatonka Lodge. The landscape provides a relaxing and breathtaking environment for anyone seeking to connect with nature. My brothers & my husband had shared a vision of expanding my fathers buffalo ranch when additional property became available to purchase. With all our knowledge & experiences combine we have built 4 log homes & have been renting them out since 2004. All the furniture in this cabin has been handmade by the wood on the property! Even the covered wagon bed, that was custom built my my father. Once my husband retires from the US Army in about 3 yrs our dream will be to build our log cabin on the property & be more hands on. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to love being transplants from a very flat NY!

While staying at Tatonka Lodge we feel you will really enjoy the peace & tranquility of being secluded on 65 acres. So many of our previous guest have wrote back & told us they had all these plans to sight see but then just loved hanging out in the cabin together enjoying the big game room & the children all love the uniquely designed playground as well as seeing the miniature horse, buffalo, goats & llamas.
