The house itself is nice, comfortable, and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately, our experience with the property management company left a lot to be desired.Several amenities were either broken or poorly maintained: the TV in the main living area didn’t work, the fireplace wouldn’t turn on, the refrigerator’s ice maker was broken, and the toilet paper holder in the primary bathroom was coming off the wall. Overall, it felt like there was a fair amount of deferred maintenance. For the price you’re paying, you’d expect the home’s amenities to be in excellent condition.Fortunately, someone in our group had a work laptop, so we were still able to watch movies on the living room TV in the evenings. Even so, there are probably better options in the Rockaway area that offer a better value for the money. The property’s dog policy was also surprisingly confusing. The listing advertises the home as dog-friendly, but the pre-arrival instructions said no pets, and the information posted inside the house also stated that pets were not allowed. You can imagine our momentary panic when we were already on our way with our dog and received an email saying pets weren’t permitted—even though we had booked the property based on it being listed as dog-friendly. We were able to clear up the confusion by messaging the host, but it was an unnecessary source of stress that could have been avoided with clearer, more consistent communication.
