When we arrived, the trash from the previous week had not been picked up and was overflowing the two trash bins. We contacted the host and he stated the trash company had not picked it up as scheduled but they would be there the next day. THREE DAYS LATER, after numerous calls with the host, the trash was finally picked up. This included several bags of our own trash that the 14 of us had created. By then the bins and bags on the ground were swarming with flies. To add salt to the wound, we received this notice: “Trash must be placed inside the designated trash bins only. … We want to make you aware of the Town's Short-Term Rental Ordinance rules regarding parking, noise, and trash. These rules are strictly enforced by the Town, and violations may result in fines of up to 1,000 per violation. If we receive a fine due to a violation during your stay, the fine will be charged to the guest."We discovered the clothes washer did not work. We contacted the host who said they were aware and the owner had ordered new machines. Later he said the delivery was delayed. We had to go to a laundromat and spend money and vacation time doing laundery. Had we known the washer did not work, we could have planned accordingly. Everyone had fun, but these issues were an unwanted distraction. The trash should have been picked up within 24 hours of our notifying the host and we should have been contacted ahead of time and warned there might not be a working clothes washer on site.
