## Emplacement
Malakoff is located in the Hauts-de-Seine region, south of Paris, bordering the XIVth arrondissement. Close to Châtillon, Montrouge, Vanves and Clamart, this town of more than 30,000 inhabitants has been a member of the Greater Paris metropolis since January 1, 2016.Crossed by the Coulée verte du sud parisien, which partly follows the route of the via Turonensis, the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, the large town of Malakoff takes its current name from a decision of 1868, the date of the creation of the municipality following its separation from Vanves. This title would come from a defensive tower located near Sebastopol whose capture allowed the victory of the Crimean War by the French. Nowadays, Malakoff is very urbanized and economically well developed, and is characterized by a very good public transport service and by a very appreciable dynamism. The numerous cultural and sporting events that are organized there, as well as the important architectural heritage that it possesses, make this Ile-de-France commune a popular place for tourists. Its proximity to Paris also makes it easy to discover all the charms of the capital.
