Welcome to Coconut Castaway, your private island escape on North Captiva Island — accessible only by ferry or water taxi. Just steps from the beach, this relaxing coastal retreat offers ocean views, white sand beaches, unforgettable sunsets, and the peaceful charm that makes North Captiva so special.

This spacious 4-bedroom, 3-bath stilt home features over 1,600 sq. ft. of living space and a unique upside-down floor plan designed to maximize views and gathering space.

The first floor includes:
• King primary suite with en-suite bathroom and private lanai
• Bedroom with two twin beds
• Two additional queen bedrooms
• Full guest bathroom
• Washer and dryer
• Smart TVs with Roku in every bedroom
• USB charging ports in bedside lamps

Upstairs, you’ll find the main living area with:
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Open dining and living spaces
• 3/4 bathroom
• Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors
• Large lanai with panoramic ocean views

For even more incredible scenery, head up to the crow’s nest to enjoy stunning 360-degree island views while relaxing on the loungers.

On the ground level, enjoy the Weber grill for seafood boils, burgers, and evening cookouts after a day at the beach.

Located near the Salty Approach grass airstrip, you can watch small planes and helicopters arrive throughout the day — a unique North Captiva experience guests love.

The home is conveniently located near:
• Public beach access on the Gulf side
• A beautiful east-side beach perfect for sunrises and dolphin watching

As members of The Island Club, our guests may purchase access to additional amenities including:
• Members-only pool & bar area
• Bikes
• Paddleboards
• Kayaks

Guests who choose not to purchase Island Club access may still enjoy the following as patrons of Mango's Bar & Grill:
• Public pool
• Hot tub

Boat Slip Rentals:
For guests interested in boating during their stay, The Island Club offers its members' guests boat slip rentals for an additional fee based on availability. Guests of Coconut Castaway will also receive a helpful list of additional local boat slip rental resources upon booking.

The home includes:
• One electric golf cart for reservations with 4 guests or fewer
• A second golf cart automatically included for groups of 5+ guests (please note the correct number of guests when booking to see correct pricing)

Golf carts are the primary way to explore the island’s sandy roads and hidden beauty.

Additional amenities include:
• Linens and bath towels
• Beach towels, beach umbrellas and coolers
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Whole-home reverse osmosis water filtration system

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very nice, we loved the lanai and crows nest. The kitchen has everything you'd need. We were very close to the beach, the property manager was responsive and overall it was a great experience.

What a fun experience! Taking the ferry to the island was not expected but what an adventure...such beautiful scenery! Golf cart provided and so fun tooling around the island seeing all the amazing properties and beaches. Shelling was so fun on this trip for my birthday. House was great! So much room for the 2 of us and room for more...next trip! Great views from crows nest with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The property management company was great, pick up and drop off you and luggage with golf cart too! The only thing that the house would need more of would be like ziplocks, foil for baking etc. Great stay!

A perfect week in paradise after the busy holidays

The perfect get away. Cocounut Castaway had everything we needed to recharge after the busy holiday season. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Walks on the beach and shell hunting were our favorite activities. We visited the manatees daily and went to the pool at Mangos most days. My niece and nephew played basketball daily at the hoop at mangos. We loved the food at Mainstay but most nights cooked and grilled at home. The management company was excellent! The house had everything we needed for our stay. It was clean and nicely decorated. We can't wait to return next New Years!!!

Wonderful Island Stay

We had a wonderful time staying at Coconut Castaway. It was just what our family needed over the holiday break! We loved the house, the beach, and the island! The house was well furnished and decorated, and it had everything we needed. We especially liked the lanai and used it daily for morning coffee, meals, reading, and evening game time. We watched sunsets from the crow's nest. Having a golf cart to get around the island was convenient and fun. We walked the beach, hiked the trail, biked to the southern point, kayaked in the harbor, and swam at the pool. The club membership was a perfect match for our active interests. The quiet, calm, crowd- and traffic-free island vibe was just right for us. We would love to stay again!

Owner requires you to rent two golf carts if you are 4 people, even though i had two 4 year old kids. The cart was barely used as you don't need it. We were allowed to check in early, at 1 pm rather than 4 pm and then the owner at the door step changed his mind and made us sit for 1.5 hours in 90 degree weather until he finally let us go in. He did this on purpose to “punish” us because of the golf carta situation. BEWARE: The house is completely rigged with security cameras and you are constantly monitored by the owner. You have no privacy and the island doesn’t have a “high crime rate” to need so many cameras. I find this a ridiculous. Also you’re a/c is controlled. You can’t lower the temperature of the property. The house gets very hot upstairs and also downstairs. I asked the property manager two times to have the unit unlocked, and the owner did not allow it. Beware if you stay here you will be controlled and your every move monitored which i find a complete invasion of privacy. I do not recommend this property to be rented because of the amount of documentation/contract owner makes you sign and then the treatment onsite. Plenty of better located homes and pleasant people to rent from.

Important context is missing from this review. This guest booked our home for 4 people but arrived on the island with 6 guests. Our listing plainly states that an accurate guest count is required because it determines the number of golf carts included with the reservation. One 4-person golf cart is included for groups of 4 or fewer, while reservations of 5 or more require a second golf cart. Golf carts are the primary means of transportation on North Captiva Island, and each cart is limited to 4 passengers. When our property caretaker discovered at arrival that the guest had brought 6 people instead of the 4 listed on the reservation and explained that the required second golf cart charge would apply, the guest objected and stated that she would leave us a negative review. This threat was made before she had even arrived at or experienced our home. We immediately offered the guest the option to cancel the reservation and receive a full refund if she did not wish to abide by the clearly disclosed terms of the booking. She declined that offer, chose to proceed with the stay, and later followed through with the negative review she had threatened before ever arriving at the property. We welcome honest feedback about a guest’s actual experience at our home. However, we will not waive clearly disclosed rules or fees because a guest threatens a negative review. Accurate guest counts and golf cart requirements apply equally to every reservation, and we stand firmly behind our decision to enforce those requirements in this case.

Paradise

Coconut Castaway is the perfect place for a family getaway. From picking us up at our dock with our golf carts and transporting our bins and bags to the house was the perfect start. The rooftop view was a favorite of our granddaughters and of course us as well North Captiva is such a memorable relaxing place we will for sure be back again and Coconut Castaway will be our first call. What a treat.......

Coconut Castaway is living in Paradise...what a beautiful House. We stayed for the whole month of July 2025 and didn't want to leave. The house is beautifully renovated and decorated. Nothing is missing. Every single detail was thought of. We only had one little hiccup with the Gulf Cart the first day, but Bill and Trisha took immediate, very professional care of it. Bill and Trisha's communications with me were prompt and always very helpful. I plan to rent Coconut Castaway again towards the end of the Summer, if possible. It deserves a 5 out of 5-star rating.

paradise! we can’t wait to come back!

This house is truly paradise! They thought of everything when they redid this home. What an easy place to visit with our family. The two golf carts are a bonus as they didn’t have any available on the island. Renting this home with the carts made our stay so much easier and enjoyable! The manager is great and met us at the dock, helped us unload and was available for anything we needed. The house has a beautiful setup with the balcony and porch! There is plenty of seating to enjoy dinner, coffee or even lounge in the sun! We even had speakers outside to enjoy music and watch the sunset from the house! The house was perfect and spotless! We will be back again this year! Don’t think twice just book the house! Best family trip we have had!

A wonderful getaway!

We had a wonderful time on North Captiva Island while staying at Coconut Castaway. We were there for a 7 night stay. The house is very well appointed and is a short 2 minute walk to the beach. The screened in porch was perfect for meals and general socializing. The roof deck had a great view of the ocean and sunsets. Bedrooms were very nicely done and the property was perfectly clean. The kitchen has almost everything you could want to cook full meals! While we were there the golf cart for the house at 2 flat tires (which were fixed rather quickly) and the property manager was unable to secure a second golf cart, but it wasn't a problem as the island is very walkable and it was good to get some exercise! The property manager was quite responsive while we were there and was helpful in getting acquainted with the house, the island, and transportation on arrival and departure. Of note, the North Captiva Island Club has kayaks that were easy to use, but the bikes were mostly unusable so if biking is desired I would recommend renting one from Boats N' Fun or bringing your own. Bill and Trisha (owners) were helpful in answering questions prior to arriving at their lovely home.. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would return again in the future!

Coconut Castaway DELIVERS BIG !!

We stayed with Coconut Castaway 2nd and 3rd week of August. I feel that Coconut Castaway has the “IT” dialed in…we were very impressed. The unit was the CLEANEST Vacation home rental we have ever seen in Florida. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were well appointed with TV’s in the bed rooms, usb chargers, clean furniture updated comfortable linens etc. There was plenty of stock for the essentials like dishwashing pods/laundry pods/Toilet paper /paper towels etc. The living room area and dining area were large and the furniture and decor was nicely done and very CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and comfortable. The kitchen appliances are all brand new it appears and very nice.! The kitchen was spotless. The kitchen had everything we needed, nice cookware, knives and dishes and lots of different spices etc. The grill is a Webber and it was clean, heated quickly and worked great. The home is beautiful and the location is awesome. We watched the sunset most nights from the top deck and other nights we walked the short distance (3 houses away) to the beach for sunset then jumped into the new awesome Hot Tub. Tortuga is the owner’s property manager and they were also excellent. They were on top of communications from the start. They picked us up on time at the dock and gave us a quick tour of the island on our way to the unit. There was a very small issue with the provided golf cart and Tortuga was very responsive and handled the issue quickly to our satisfaction. We used Tortuga via “Dumpling” for the groceries and the shopper was on top of things; very good communication (offering alternatives)and excellent service overall. Our groceries were stocked and ready for us when we arrived. A+ for Tortuga a nice perk for Coconut Castaway guests!!! The Island club membership was a big plus also, There were two pools and good service from the Bar area. We used the free bicycles and free kayaks etc. All of our interactions with staff at the club were with out instance. I had some dialogue with the Coconut ownership along the way to booking etc and they were also very responsive and very nice to speak to as well. They also reached out and followed up with us post visit and again when releasing the security deposit etc.! If you are wrestling with which unit to book, you will not be disappointed here. I really cannot say enough how nice it was there, so I will simply say we’d definitely stay there again without hesitation. A++ for Coconut!!

Love this place. Hope to come again. It was us 2 families including 3 teens, 7 total. Plenty of space for everyone. The golf carts were in great condition, they had everything we needed; coolers, chairs, beach towels etc. They were super close to the "calm water side" of the island and the even closer to the rougher water side with shells to be had. Everyone had a great time, it felt very safe, clean, and beachy. Love love love them. The host were great and the property management company was easy to deal with too.

another beautiful stay....

We have rented the property already 3 times, and each time it is the most beautiful getaway there is. The house is gorgeous and the location magical. Hosts Trisha and Jim are extremely helpful and responsive ..... we would go back there anytime, any minute.

Perfect family getaway

We’ve stayed on North Captiva a few times and so far this has been one of our favorite properties. The owners were exceptionally helpful and the house had everything we needed and then some! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering a visit to the island.

North Captiva first visit

We had a great time. It was our first time to the island, next time would def pack less. Easy walk to beach, club pool was fun and good food.
