Beautiful retreat in the Adirondack Park

Our two bedroom cabin is located on Horseshoe Pond in the town of Duane, NY. The cabin has been part of the Harwood family for many years, and now we are excited to be renting it out to family and friends to enjoy this space as much as we have over the years. The cabin is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to get away from the busyness of every day life. Here, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful Adirondack scenery that surrounds our cabin. Access to numerous outdoor activities including boating, hiking, and sightseeing. Short drive to historic villages of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, and High Peaks region.

Amazing

We had a wonderful time. The cabin is so cozy and felt like home away from home. We wish that we could have stayed longer!

Once again, this little hidden gem did not disappoint! We caught fish right off the dock within an hour of arriving. We even saw a rainbow! It’s such a peaceful place to rest and recharge. Everything you need is there, and things you didn’t know you needed (or you forgot) :) I will miss my sunrise coffee and yoga on the dock.

Peaceful Getaway

This was our second stay and was just as amazing as the first. Wonderful host with great communication. We got to hear the loons on the pond every day! Did a good amount of kayaking and hiking. If you love to be in the outdoors this is a fantastic place to stay. Cozy atmosphere of the cabin made us feel right at home. Hope to return in the future.

Cozy and perfect

Wonderful, homey property with a warm welcome. We will be back! (Again!). Hosts haven't overlooked a thing. You feel like a member of the family when you stay in this lovely cabin.

Wonderful and quiet week

We had a wonderful week at this quiet and secluded cabin. The lake is beautiful and we enjoyed kayaking and canoeing, fishing and just drinking coffee by the dock. While here we hiked nearby Debar mountain and made a day trip to lake placid where we also hiked Mt Jo. The cabin is sweetly rustic and the screened porch was a favorite place to relax and play board games. This was exactly the quiet, relaxed and unplugged we were looking for!

Peaceful Haven

If you are looking for a stay away from everyone, this is the place for you. We were on the lake every day. It was extremely quiet and peaceful. The loudest thing was the beautiful sound of the loons. The cabin has a homey feel that make you know that they didn’t build this cabin just to rent it out. Everything that is provided is top notch from the towels to the mattress. We will be returning and we’re just a little sad to say good bye. Amazing place.

PEACEFUL AND RELAXING

We had the very best time here as a family. Communication with owners was prompt and the check in process/tour by Barbara and her daughter, along with the goodie basket and a note for us was a nice personal touch! We felt very welcomed. The kids (teenage girls) did puzzles, canoed and kayaked. My husband and I canoed in the rain (fishing) and saw an otter swimming towards us, it felt a little magical. It was peaceful, quiet and private. The only thing I wished for is that we could have stayed longer. We had quite a hiccup with the washing machine but Barbara was very helpful and quick to respond :)

Another beautiful trip.

This Cabin that the harwood family has opened to us has been amazing. This was our second year staying and we booked 5 nights this time. This year was just like last with all the amenities and the temperature was perfect in mid September. The privacy and relaxation that is here is something special. I will definitely be back for a third trip!

Perfect retreat

This was our second visit to the Cabin on Horseshoe Pond and once again we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. The hosts make sure that everything is warm and welcoming and the setting is beautiful! We will be back.

Great place to unwind

The place is just as described and pictures. Cana and Jim where great to work with. They answered all my questions quickly. We really enjoyed the outside of the property. We took advantage of the kayaks and paddled everyday. We went to Deer River flow. My husband and son caught lots of pike and bass in the pond. We enjoyed the fire pits and the breezeway. I went on a run or walk everyday on the private roads to the property. The cabin had every comfort you could want. We were worried about no A/C, but even in the beginning of August the cabin stayed cool enough. We appreciated being able to create memories at your family cabin!

Amazing

My family had an amazing time at the cabin. We loved the use of the kayaks for exploring the lake. My husband took us out in the rowboat to do some fishing. Waking up to the serene view of the lake and wildlife was relaxing. Enjoyed coffee on the best, most cozy porch ever! We don't usually visit the same vacation spot twice, but are seriously considering renting this place again! The Harwood family was very nice and helpful with everything we asked.

Adirondack getaway

The cabin and property is even more beautiful in person! This was the perfect trip to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. We enjoyed kayaking and sitting by the dock taking in this little slice of heaven.

Perfect getaway!

We were impressed with the amenities offered, including kayaks and a paddle boat to use. We enjoyed paddling around the pond and hiked a couple of nearby mountains in Saranac Lake (30 min drive). Communication with the owners was great, 100% would recommend.

Relaxing, cozy cabin!

We spent most of our time out paddling around on the water, or relaxing on the porch! If you want to have a nice, quiet, peaceful stay somewhere with a great view of the water this is a perfect place for it! They have just about everything you could need. Only thing that could have been helpful to have would be a microwave, but stove and oven worked fine to reheat things. Thanks so much for the goody basket and sharing your wonderful cabin/property with us! Stacy and Justin

Very private and beautiful

This Cabin is a mile set back in off a private road so if your looking for privacy there is no shortage here. The view from the front porch and the lean to just breathtaking. The cabin is very campy but nice and cozy for a relaxing getaway. The local area has alot of hiking opportunities and outdoor recreation. There are plenty of kayaks, canoes and even a couple boats. We used the fire pit out at the lean to every night it was amazing. The hosts provide just about everything you need besides the things they recommend you bring. I had an awesome little welcome basket which had coffee in it. That was a life saver since I forgot to bring it. The cabin feels very homey since it is full with the little gifts and memories that are created over the years. I will be reserving this in the future and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice private gateway to the northern Adirondacks.

a little piece of heaven

This property is just perfect for a relaxing get away. The cottage is right on Horseshoe Pond- a scenic little Adirondack pond perfect for kayaking. The owners have thought of everything inside the cottage and were very helpful though out our stay. We will definitiely be back next year!! Thank you to the Harwood family for sharing this beautiful place.

A relaxing getaway

I awoke to the sound of a loon drifting in the bedroom window from nearby Horseshoe Pond. I got up and watched from the screened porch as the sun rose and the fog pulled away from the water revealing the bird diving and calling out to his mate. Soon the coffee the owner provided was ready and my son and his friends were up and pushing the kayaks (also provided) quietly into the water in the search for another big bass or pike. That's the way our last day at the cabin on Horseshoe Pond began - much like the others. My son and two of his friends joined us for a much needed respite with nature. We hiked nearby trails, paddled from Horseshoe Pond to where it connects with Deer River Flow, cooked on the grill, and sat around the two fire pits. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. James did everything he could to ensure we felt welcomed. I look forward to returning next year. If you are looking for sometime away from it all in comfortable and beautiful surroundings, you can't do much better. Tom
