This house is exactly as described in the listing. It was charming. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, there is plenty of seating, the backyard and lakeview were beautiful. The separate bunk house is a fun addition. We found the location to be very convenient for the areas in Maine we wanted to visit. Communication with the owners was excellent. Just a note, the bedrooms are upstairs and the only shower is downstairs. It was not a problem with a half bath upstairs.

What an amazing place! If you are looking for a place that is right on a lake with spectacular views that guarantees a re-set with unforgettable memories, this is the place! We had such a wonderful time fishing, kayaking, exploring, sitting by the fire and just spending tine together! Thank you for opening your home to us!

Our family loved our summer vacation at the lake. The property was just beautiful and the waterfront was awesome. Entry into the water was over the rocks, which was a little trickier for some but we managed. The kids were fine with it. The variety of seating and lounge areas was fabulous. We had a snafoo with the lockbox when we arrived and then it took some time to reach our host. Once we connected, we had access to a backup key, and they even offered to extend our check out time. Everything was handled very well, once we got in touch. We like to try now lakes around Maine but we all agree that we would go back to this gem again!

Porter Lake House

Wonderful location, away from it all. Super accurate listing, hosts had everything ready to go and everything you would need - bring your grocery staples and enjoy the lake, property and surrounding area.

Lake house retreat

Fantastic place with thoughtful owners, beautifully designed and well appointed. Fabulous views and lake access, private dock, and a charming boathouse renovated as a bunkhouse. Couldn’t be more charming.

The house was absolutley spotless, in wonderful condition and well stocked! We had everything we needed to enjoy the beautiful location. The lake was warm, the view was great! Hosts were lovley.

What a lovely home! We enjoyed our stay. It was by far my most relaxing vacation. We used the kayaks, canoe and the paddleboard. I spent most of my time swinging in the hammock. The bunk house was perfect to get out of the sun and to watch the sunrise in the morning. The house was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the puzzles and the 80's & 90's movie DVD's!

Lake Week

Had a wonderful time on Porter Lake. The house is clean, equipped with everything and anything that you could possibly need and perfectly decorated! Quintessential lake house. Loved it!

Perfect with so many places to relax

What a perfect place. So nicely set up for maximum relaxation. Fishing was great. Not a lot of fish but when they hit they were monsters. First one landed was a 5.4 llb smallmouth!! We bright way too much stuff because they had everything we needed right there. We’ve been renting for over a decade and this is a house we’d return to. Thank you Paul and Jen!!

Great house

The house was immaculate and homey, there was room for everyone and even spaces that we never touched simply because we had no need to. There are 3 tables inside the house alone, another table in the little shed/house, and another table in the netted gazebo structure. Bathrooms feel like luxury in a lake cabin in Maine. The backdrop is stunning, with mountains in the background and the beautiful lake. The beach is a 5-10 minute kayak ride away and is large with a floating dock to do some cannonballs. We had a great time, thanks for the memories!

Mountain Lake House

We are a group of 6 Ages 19-54 and stayed for a week. The house and property are very well maintained. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in the property. They thought of everything you would need for a vacation at the lake. They even went as far as to supply us with spring water due to heavy rain that could have affected the water. They supplied everything needed for the charcoal and gas grill. Wood for the fire pit. The lake water is clear and clean. Unfortunately we could only enjoy the lake a day and a half, because of the rain. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. The boys loved sleeping in the bunk house right on the water. We used the screened porch to eat and play games due to the weather. Easy check in and great communication with owner. I would highly recommend this property.

Perfect Lake House

From the moment we saw this lovely property on VRBO we thought it was too good to be true -/ but happily, in our case, the actual property lived up to the advertisement. Plenty of room for me, my husband, and two teenagers plus a swim off dock and kayaks and a paddle board to use at will. There was even a “he~shed” where my college bound high school Junior could work on his portfolio. The house was clean and well-appointed: Every time we thought ‘it would be nice to have X’ we would look and — voila! X would be there. Nice area for strolling, perfect temperature of water, lovely lake to look at and the sound of the loons every night. Cannot say enough good things about this house! (Only detriment was that it was advertised as having a lobster pot but it didn’t have one — we borrowed from my aunt so all was well — that’s why 4/5 stars for “as advertised”) Can’t wait to come back next year! Thanks Jenn and Paul!

We loved our restful week at this beautiful property. We are a family of 5 and the house was the perfect size with plenty of space for gathering and privacy. Our older kids loved the bunk house, it was like they had a camp of their own. We often found ourselves saying that the house had all the things that we would want in a lake house rental...multiple boats for paddling, huge screened porch, hammock, bunk beds, dishwasher, good knives, good coffee maker, multiple bathrooms, fire pit...it was a hike to go out for things we needed but we didn't find ourselves doing that much! We were excited to try a new area in Maine after renting in more populated areas, and we loved this area and hope to return.We paddled a lot, especially to the nearby island with a rope swing and small campsites, and further into a cove where we observed a lot of beaver activity. There were boats on the lake but they generally stayed quiet and slow during the weekdays. We took a trip north to near Sugarloaf at the Narrow Gauge Trail and went biking and river swimming. My husband caught plenty of large fish in the lake with his fly rod. The property is so cozy and we spent most of our time outdoors. There are neighbors close by so expect to see and hear them, but it wasn't anything that bothered us much. We had an excellent experience dealing with this host and are hoping to come back!

The house was exactly as described and the pictures accurate. The hosts had everything you needed and so many outdoor activity options. It was a lovely vacation spot. House is beautiful. Only complaint would be that the mattresses on the queen beds are incredibly firm, but if that’s your preference it’s perfect. Kids loved the bunk house.

Really relaxing well equipped property

This house is fantastic has everything you could ask for even the shower gel was really relaxing. You feel really secluded on the property even though there are some houses around you barely notice anyone else. Sleeping in the bunk house with the screen door you feel like you are sleeping on the lake. The house is equipped with everything fishing rods kayaks and paddle board and all the indoor and outdoor games you could need. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating areas for everyone to find there own little slice of tranquility right beside the lake. The lake itself is quiet crystal clear and beautiful. A++

Comfortable quarters and beautiful location

We loved the separate bunk house, all the seating options, 2 screened areas for "outdoor" meals. Cooked out on the grill almost every night, and loved having fires and music at the fire pit! It was also great to have so many options for getting out on the water! All in all, a great property with many amenities... no complaints at all!

Gorgeous and peaceful

We had a wonderful 2-week stay! The house is very well appointed and perfectly suited to the beautiful lake and view of the mountains. We never got tired of being in the water and hanging out on the porch listening to the loons. Even the neighbors were sweet and invited my son to play in their grandson's sandbox whenever he wanted while we were there. Be aware that you'll need all-wheel drive for the dirt roads around the property, there was a rainstorm while we were there and we were glad to have the extra control on some washed-out areas! But nothing you wouldn't expect in the woods of Maine.

Fall family gathering

We had nice fall weather which was excellent for enjoying this property, with all its outdoor features: the boathouse, screen porch with dining table, fire pit, paddling and swimming in the lake. The house and lawn were nice and tidy, with plenty of linens etc. Although there were other houses close by, it was quiet and peaceful. Nice stargazing at night! All in all we were very comfortable and enjoyed our little getaway.

Wonderful property

We were so lucky and grateful to book this property! The house was extremely well kept, cozy, and stocked with amenities. The owners were great communicators and the view was fantastic! We would definitely recommend the property!
