Mahalo for a great vacation and super accomodations.

Excellent property, very private and spacious. Great neighborhood with good walks. Best nearby beaches.Good value for a large group - we were 9 and could have had more. We did not use the Ohana which would handle more folks. Pool much better than we had expected - it is one of the best small pools we have experienced. Bring USB adapters.

Great family space

This rental was excellent for our extended family with plenty of room for everyone to be together or have private space. The pool was wonderful for the kids and we were in and out of it multiple times a day. The nearby beaches were great, both sandy ones and reef/rocky areas. Lots to see and do. The property is older and a little worn but plenty of character and perfect for our group.

Wonderful stay in paradise

This house was an amazing place for our group of seven to stay. We had three separate family groups that could separate into their own areas. The pool area is fabulous. The kitchen and dining areas are great. Beach towels, chairs and umbrellas were available for our use and that made the beach much easier. The support staff is amazing. We all want to stay here again!!

Excellent customer service and cleanliness

The house was immaculate and spacious for 8 people. The property managers provided excellent service. Only thing was the queen bed in the pool house was a futon or a pullout couch. Would definitely stay again without hesitation.

Awesome Property

This property has 5 bedrooms with baths which are private spaces for large groups. We lived in the pool lanai area as it was so peaceful and comfortable. We used the grill and ate outside every night. Also, beautiful mango's from the tree every day.The location was perfect for us as we love the Kohala coast beaches, exploring Hawi, Waimea, Hamakua, and over the saddle road to Hilo. I love this home and can't wait to return.

Beautiful home!

We loved this house! So much space for a big group. Comfortable outside seating options which is where we hung out the most. Very well stocked with kitchen items and beach chairs, etc. The location is great, not too far to get to many spots. The best snorkeling we found during our whole vacation was the access spot across the street from the house. We saw turtles, eels, and manta rays. We would definitely return to this house!

Big iIsland Puako 59 Honu Ohana

A great place for a big family stay! We would stay again! A few items may need replacing (e.g. tea kettle, soap dispenser in bath by washer and dryer, vaccuum doesn’t work well). There were wasp nests and a banana spider in the outdoor dining area. Wasps constantly visiting pool were friendly! We worried about glass-topped tables with our kids—wood would be better. Stairs to unit above garage have loose posts attached to handrail—could cause a bad fall.

Amazing home - great for family stay

What an amazing home. The layout was perfect for multiple family groups to each have privacy and the pool was perfect for cooling off in the Puako heat. We had a little trouble getting some of the air conditioning units to work - maybe door sensors not lining up properly - but didn't really miss them. The point of being there was being in the hot weather, not in the cold mauka wind of our daily lives. There is a security camera that watches the common area. We plugged it back in when we left for the security of the property but since we didn't leave the house unattended we didn't think it needed to watch us.

It's great that you were able to enjoy the warm weather and not miss the air conditioning too much. Thank you for sharing your feedback about the security camera. It's always a good practice to ensure the security of the property, and it's considerate that you plugged it back in when you left. It's understandable that you didn't want it to watch you while you were inside. It sounds like you had a memorable stay, and if you have any more questions or need assistance with anything else related to travel or accommodations, feel free to ask!

Spacious, quiet, and clean

We had 7 adults in our group - 3 generations between the ages of 29 and 84. We all found the perfect bedroom for our needs. The bedrooms have A/C splits, and the common areas are cooled with ceiling fans and open windows. There was a quiet place for each and every one of us to relax, read, or work, as well as plenty of space for us to gather for meals, games, and conversation. There are two separate washers and dryers, which made it easy for us to keep up with laundry. The main kitchen has lots of pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware, plus cleaning supplies. There are two smaller kitchens, which are great for refrigerator/freezer storage and for the use of a second oven, which we used for Christmas dinner. We also enjoyed the pool, which is nice and cold - a perfect place to cool down on a hot day. We had a couple of minor issues arise, and Eilis was responsive and took responsibility. We would recommend this property to any family wanting to stay close to resorts and beaches.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that our property accommodated your group of seven adults, spanning three generations, so well. It's great that each person found a comfortable and suitable bedroom, and that the various quiet spaces allowed for relaxation, reading, or work, as well as communal areas for meals and activities. We're glad the dual washers and dryers, well-equipped main kitchen, and additional smaller kitchens met your needs, especially for your Christmas dinner preparations. It's wonderful to know that the pool was a refreshing spot for everyone to cool down. We appreciate your acknowledgment of Eilis's responsiveness and responsibility in addressing the minor issues that arose. Vacation in Hawaii for 10 people

The propery is spacious and clean. Accomodations are basic not luxurious. I received the property access code via text at 4:11 pm from property manager. Code was not available on guest portal. There was plenty of room for 10 people. House was excessively hot on arrival and everyday during the afternoon (daily temp 80-85F) but cools off at night. There is no A/C just ceiling fans. There is a nice pool but requires much daily cleaning due to abundance of leaves. There was no hot tub despite one being advertised. The lanai was a nice place to hangout. As others have commented, there was a fair amount of construction noise Mon-Fri from next door. There is shore access close by but shore is quite rough and rocky in this area. Sunsets are spectacular from shore. Whales could be seen from shore.

House is nice but ...

The house is generally as described. It is roomy and beautifully landscaped with a wonderful pool. We had plenty of space for our party of 9. All of the bedrooms except one are air-conditioned so that was pleasant although the rest of the main house got quite warm most of the time we were there. There were two kitchens and two washers and dryers. The location is nice. You can walk to one beach and it's a short drive to the very beautiful Hapuna Beach. So it was an easy place for us to stay. Unfortunately, we encountered a problem on the last night there. There were signs of bugs in two of the beds, including blood spots. We called the property manager who was unable to secure a pest inspection until 2 days later. In the meantime, the property manager asked us not to change the sheets on the beds. Rather than sleep in beds that showed signs of insects, the people sleeping in those two bedrooms went to a hotel for the night. The other bedrooms were unaffected.Gather Vacations notified us 2 days later, after we got home, that there were not bed bugs in the beds but they did not tell us what the issue was. They refused to help with the cost of the hotel and told us we had left voluntarily, which was true although we saw few options, and that because there were not bed bugs per se, we were not eligible for any relief despite the fact that they failed to provide that information until after we were gone.

Thank you, Linda, for your feedback. We're glad the home’s spacious layout, tropical landscaping, and great location made it a comfortable fit for your group. You reached out with a concern on your final evening, and while a same-night inspection wasn’t possible, we scheduled a professional assessment immediately after your departure and shared the report with you right away. The licensed pest company found no signs of bed bugs, and the markings were consistent with mosquito activity. While part of your group chose alternative accommodations, others remained comfortably. We’d love to welcome you back with Gather for a smoother, more restful stay.
