Moani Heights Mauna Kea Resort - Huge Pool, Sunsets Perfect for Family & Friends



When Laurance S.Rockefeller opened the Mauna Kea Resort in 1965, it was a new level of luxury for its hotel guests and now the guests of residential homeowners. Times have changed! At that time, Trent Jones Sr. was challenged to build a course on lava bluffs, but met that challenge and was honored by his son, Trent Jones Jr. decades later with an update to his father's design. Later, Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay stepped up to the task by creating an 18-hole course at The Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel now known as the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, a part of the Mauna Kea Resort.


Welcome to the Mauna Kea Resort!

Enjoy this beautiful relaxing vacation home in the exclusive gated community of Moani Heights.  It is geared towards kids and family who are wanting to explore the Big Island and perhaps take advantage of purchasing resort access and amenities through the membership of the homeowner.

This home offers a complete kitchen with updated cabinets, new applicances, granite counter tops, appliances and working desk to page through a local recipe book.  With ocean views from the kitchen, living room, and dining area, the lanai doors open to casual seating, lounge chairs for bathing, a BBQ and rattan dining set all flanked by a huge pool and hot tub. Heated pool and hot tub available at a daily fee.

This 3 bedroom, 3 bath home is situated on an acre providing a grand presence within the neighborhood. Each master king (2) offers a private full bathroom with shower, soaking tub, private toilet room and walk-in closet. Step outside through the lanai doors where you will have a private lounge area or a straight line to the massive hot tub.

The 3rd queen bedroom has an adjoining shower bathroom, and overlooks the entrance courtyard lined with plumeria trees. All bedrooms and two bathrooms were recently updated with new flooring.

The spacious media room with its own stand-alone air conditioning is where the fun will be, leaving the formal living room for those who want quiet while watching the spectacular sun rise and sun sets! The media room sleeps an additional 2 people and is a great place for the kids! High ceilings, tile floors, ceiling fans, and a large flat screen TV with cable is where everyone will want to be at the end of the day. Plenty of books and games for the entire family!

It is our sincere hope that you will build a tradition through the years, making the Mauna Kea Resort your home away from home through one generation after the other.

Effective April 2024 to November 2024 the Mauna Kea will be enhancing their hotel. They are still open. Full beach and amenity access still prevails. The Westin Hapuna Golf Course remains open, while the Mauna Kea course is getting a make-over. Daily fees are published under house rules. Rates are updated annuallly.

The house was gorgeous, beautiful layout, and immaculate. The pool and spa clean, warm, and so fun to swim in and star gaze at night! The location and access to the resorts was amazing. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough! We'll be back :)

This is our second stay at Hikialani. It's our favorite house on the island. Lots of room for everyone with a large pool and hot tub. We used the amenities at Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea everyday. We like to visit Waimea, Honokaa and Hilo. We had everything we needed at the house. We even used the cooler so we could keep our food cold from the Hilo Farmers Market.

Perfect location for a stay in paradise!

This home had everything we could need or want. Conveniently located next to some of the best beaches on the big island. We enjoyed excursions including snorkeling at the reef by the Captain Cook monument as well as hanging out at this home’s pool and hot tub. Beautiful sunsets each night. Would definitely choose this property again!

Gorgeous home! Loved the pool and beaches!

This is an amazing house and location. The pool is perfect and the ocean views from the pool/hot tub are breathtaking. The kitchen has everything you need and I loved the separate dining and living rooms. We did the beach club and enjoyed access to all the resort pools and beaches as well. We're already planning our next trip!

Great house in a beautiful, peaceful location

We loved staying here and hope to be back as soon as we can! Lovely house on a small hill with beautiful landscaping and views. We had a great time with the pool, as well as access to the Mauna Kea resort and its perfect beaches. Donna was very pleasant and responsive to communicate with.

Perfect big island home

Christmas Vacation

The house was everything Donna promised! The location and the view made it the perfect choice for our family! Being able to relax and enjoy the pool with the ocean view was on the Christmas wish list! Communication with Donna was great and she made sure we had everything we needed! Even gave told us how to make our Costco run a quick trip! The house has everything you could need! Loved it.

Excellent location & glorious views

This property was in great condition. It had everything we needed for our stay. The home was organized & it had a detailed check-in & check-out. We loved the pool & hot tub and used them daily. Donna was very communicative & responsive. The beaches at both resort properties were worth every penny. We'd love to visit again!

Peace of heaven

The house was even more beautiful than the pictures. I enjoy resorts - this has changed the way that I will vacation in the future. The house was so clean and the pool & hot tub was wonderful. Donna answered every question within moments of me texting her. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking essentials. Wonderful Home!

This was perfect! We had 5 adults and 3 eleven year old grandchildren and it couldn’t have been better! The kitchen was extremely well stocked, the layout for this large family was perfect, the pool and lanai was wonderful and what a gorgeous view! We all HIGHLY recommend this home!

Awesome Big Island Stay!

Donna was amazing to work with and attended to all of our needs. She was responsive and helpful with all of our requests. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful property. Gorgeous property in serene location

Our home away from home on the Big Island was lovely and we enjoyed it very much. The house was beautiful. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, and glassware. The view from the house was amazing and the area was private and peaceful. The pool was a great addition. There was enough space for our party of eight to live comfortably for the week. Thank you!

Great Stay at Moani Heights

The house was perfect for our vacation, it accommodated our party of eight very well. The kitchen is well equipped and the house is comfortable. Only drawback is that while the house sleeps eight people, it does not have a dinning table, inside or out, that accommodates eight people comfortably. Having access to the Mauna Kea Beach Club was key. Overall the house works well and we will look to rebook it next year.

Wonderful Relaxation

Donna was great to deal with as we had 7 fun filled days of beach, golf and greats eats. The house is laid out well as the 2 Masters bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house. Kitchen was stocked of everything as we went to the store in Waikoloa Village for 4 nights dinners. Went to Merrimans and Bamboo otherwise and Manta. Wonderful memory and we will return. Thanks Donna!

Great house to stay in Hawaii

Our family really enjoyed this house. There were four of us, and we had plenty of space with bedrooms and bathrooms for each of our adult children plus us. We enjoyed the pool. Initially it wasn’t heating but after messaging the host it was fixed quickly. We enjoyed the view from the house. It was well supplied. Instructions were clear. Place was clean. Area is very quiet. We would gladly stay here again.

Great Family Vacation

This house and it's location was perfect for our family of four. We used all the amenities that both hotels offered as well as having our own pool. When you first walk in, the view of the pool and the ocean just blew us away (the photos don't do it justice). We enjoyed the sunsets from the patio and the star gazing was incredible (you can see the Milky Way and shooting stars). The snorkeling at Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach were fantastic. We also saw the Manta Rays at night at Mauna Kea. We drove to Hilo (1.5 hours), Kailua-Kona (30 minutes), Waimea (15 minutes) and the top of Mauna Kea (1 hour). I wish we had more time to explore! Donna was extremely responsive with any issues that we had. We are definitely coming back!! Mahalo!!

Perfect house for relaxing with family

This is my fourth trip to the Big Island and I was a bit apprehensive about staying in the Mauna Kea area as I thought it might be a hassle. I was DEFINITELY wrong! Such a great location to launch from! This listing does not do this home justice! It’s 100x’s more inviting and gorgeous in person. Completely private and you feel like you’ve got your own slice of paradise. We had two adults and 3 kids ages 17, 15 and 12 and we all had plenty of privacy and room. The pool and hot tub are fantastic! It really doesn’t get any better than this place. Donna was a great host and immediately addressed any questions/ concerns we had. Definitely going to be our new go to place to stay and VRBO people to rent from!

Amazing Big Island place!

This place was amazing! Was fully stocked with EVERYTHING from cleaning supplies to laundry supplies, towels, pool and beach toys etc. There was nothing we had to run out and get, it was all there! House was clean and comfortable! Having two master suites was a huge bonus! Plenty of room for the 7 of us! A huge part of what made our stay so memorable was getting the access to the Mauna Kea Resort! Highly recommend getting that! It’s only a 5 minute drive from the house (20 minute walk). The resort looks brand new and has a great gym, pools and one of the best beaches I’ve ever seen! Our only issue was the hot tub was not working while we were there, but Donna (owner) has promised to make that right. I cannot wait to go back to this place! Amazing!!!
