This charming farmhouse was built in 1895 for the caretaker of the local railroad station. Since then this beautiful location has hosted gatherings of diverse sets of friends and family and we would be honored to host your next family trip or gathering. Located just minutes from a dozen local wineries, hiking trails and 6 miles from various beaches (or just feet from the year-round heated private pool and hot tub) this farmhouse is the perfect relaxing get away.

The property was easy to find and a short distance from the airport. Check-in was very easy. The kitchen was clean and had all the silverware, dishes, pots, pans, etc. we needed. The lemon press was fun to use.

A true gem!!!

Stayed with my family for a few days. Awesome place! Was easy to swim and enjoy everything with the open floor plan! Love the historical part, but as up to date as they come! Wonderful!! 5 stars! A true GEM of a house.

Things to Consider

Pros: Clean, comfortable beds, quick response from owner, close to San Luis ObispoCons: ZERO comfortable places to sit: couch is low to floor, uncomfortable, and needs replaced, & only 1 small hard leather chair and 2 other hard wood chairs with minimal pillows. (Disappointing that there is literally no where to sit comfortably with family/friends), road noise is loud and we had construction at a building on the same property the entire time we were there. Other buildings on the property affect ambiance of main home.

Family Vacation

The Edna Railhouse is a lovely property with wonderful amenities for family activities. It was very spacious to accommodate our family of 9 (three generations) quite comfortably. The property is also centrally located to SLO, Pismo Beach, and Edna Valley wineries. Pillows and beds were very comfortable and rooms included sound machines. Our host, Jeromy was very attentive to our needs and quick to respond to all of our requests.

Love The Railhouse!

This is our second time staying here . Our 3 kids go to cal poly & this home is wonderful to enjoy time together . The kitchen, bbq, pool & spa are always a hit for us . This year we celebrated our twins graduation from cal poly , we had friends & family for the big day & the home accommodated us very well . The owners are very responsive & fair. I’m sure we will be back :)

Wedding Guest Stay near Biddle Ranch

Great place. the wedding was at Biddle Ranch and it couldn't be closer. Had all the Groomsmen lounge at the pool before getting ready for the event. Perfect for this! Two items of note: 1. We were missing were hangers. Each room had a single hook so we had to buy hangers to use the hook for our dresses etc. and 2. The stairs are a bit steep to get to the bedrooms so probably not great for elderly. Minor details but good to know. Would definitely recommend. Lovely weekend!!

Excellent stay!

Everything about this property and our stay was fantastic. The main floor bedroom is very spacious. All the beds were comfortable. The room with the two twin beds has a good amount of space but the beds are small and the ceiling is a little low. It was not a problem for us because we had people under 5’5” staying in that room but may be an issue for tall people.There are no closets which again was not an issue for us. We did quite a bit of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. There are so many bathrooms and while the upstairs showers are a little small they were all clean and well maintained including the outdoor/pool bathroom. The main living area is large and bright. The outdoor area is amazing - clean, spacious and had sunny areas and shaded areas. The barbecue worked well. Some other reviews commented on noise from the highway and while you do hear it outside in the pool area, if you play some music it was enough to drown it out. We didn’t think the highway noise was an issue indoors. The location is about 15 minutes from downtown SLO. The house is off a busy road and the driveway sneaks up on you. We had a gathering for our son’s graduation and tied balloons to the mailbox so guests could find it easily. Our guests all commented on what a great find the house was. Questions were answered in a very timely the management was prepared and accommodating. The picture on the listing are accurate. I would highly recommend this property.

Comfortable stay with some issues

We had a lovely family stay right after Christmas. The house is large and clean with many pluses. The Edna Valley and San Luis Obispo area are beautiful and fun to visit with small wineries, great restaurants, and beautiful scenery. The owner was very helpful and made some excellent winery and restaurant recommendations. The house had some interesting and attractive features. The common areas (kitchen, living, and dining areas) were clean and attractive. Great to have a welcoming place for our dog. There were a few negatives. We were hoping to enjoy a quiet, bucolic experience at the house but were disappointed by the annoying busy highway noise which was most noticeable in the master bedroom and the pool/patio area. One of the bedrooms is sized for very small people - which was not a good fit for our tall adult son. We also were not able to get the sauna to heat up. But all in all a very pleasant vacation.

Great family reunion spot

Very comfortable. Some bedrooms and bathrooms are small but very functional. The pool, spa, sauna and bbq were perfect. We walked to wineries. The kitchen is fully equipped. The street is busy but it didn’t bother us. Easy to get an Uber and close to downtown and Pismo Beach. We loved our visit. We really felt on vacation. The departing instructions were very easy. Many times when we are in a rental they ask us to start laundry and do other chores We can’t wait to go back!

A lovely spacious space

It was lovely. Close to wine country and close to the airport if you’re traveling in from out of town. The rooms were clean the kitchen was great, the pool was lovely. The sauna sadly didn’t work and we really were all about that so that was a bummer but overall it was great.

Beautiful home in central coast wine country

We stayed here with a family of six - including teenagers and young adults - for Cal Poly graduation weekend. It was a great base for visiting campus as well as quick trips to the beach and SLO for meals. The pool/hot tub/sauna were really nice, great temperature and well maintained with nice outdoor seating. As several mentioned - the busy road just across the fence is an annoyance, but tolerable. The house is beautifully decorated and unique. The beds were extra-comfortable with nice linens and pillows. The bedrooms and bathrooms are small, but functional, and great to have 4.5 baths. Nice towels (bath and pool) and shampoo/body wash provided. Some shower heads with low pressure. Nice sized kitchen, well-appointed with plenty of dishes/utensils/pans to cook full meals. Some condiments/spices/oils available to use, plenty of paper products provided. Several previous comments about no TV - but there was one in the living room - which we never turned on! - too busy enjoying the pool! Great communication from owner. Would definitely stay again!

We had three needs for our mini vacation

We basically had three needs in the place we would choose for our mini vacation to a destination wedding. A space for four adults and two dogs (pet friendly) Close to the wedding venue ( it was maybe a. 1/4 mile), and close to the local airport (about a mile away) Bonus… is close to the ocean, and great eating places. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely stay in the country

Our families enjoyed this peaceful country stay with beautiful mountain views, pool and hot tub. Heated pool works great even with cooler weather. House is very spacious and perfect for families with kids.

It was quiet. A quick drive to town and the beaches. My kids enjoyed the pool.

It was nice and relaxing we enjoyed making lemonade with the fresh lemons just outside our front door.

Perfect Getaway

The house is so spacious and was perfect for us to lounge around. The outdoor dining g room is so elegant and daily pool lounging and nightly hot tubbing made it all a perfect getaway AND you are right I. The heart of the valley I think the farthest tasting was 1.5 miles away.

Amazing Experience

Our family of seven (kids age 10, 8, 6, 5, and 2) stayed here for three days. The house is beautiful and somehow feels both original and updated at the same time. We spent most of our time in the pool, which was just the right temperature. We also went to Avila beach nearby, which is only a twenty minute drive and is a great place for kids. But it’s also close to shops, wineries, and more, all while feeling like you are in the country. The views of the hills and sunsets are beautiful. Also, Jeromy was helpful and communicative throughout. Overall, a great experience, and we highly recommend it!

Family Vacation

My family and I stayed at this wonderful home for 5 nights! It went by way to fast. Location was key close to everything! The home was so comfortable, pool was awesome and what a charming touch with the lemon and fruit trees, beautiful Mountain View’s as you swim and the goats and cows grazing in the distance. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back to visit again!

Great Stay

Great property.....love the modern minimalist decor with European flair. Our family/kids had great time exploring local sights and coming back to soak in the wonderful pool/spa. Definitely exceeded all our expectations and we hope to be back!

Fabulous Edna Valley Retreat!

OMG! What a fabulous and rustic property (fully renovated) in the heart of Edna Valley near San Luis Obispo. Our large extended family thoroughly enjoyed the stay of three nights at the historic farmhouse that used to house a local railroad caretaker more than a 100 years ago. From the impressive mountain views (with the fog rolling in) from the two upstairs bedrooms, to a fully appointed kitchen and spacious master bedroom downstairs, and the heated pool and jacuzzi--oh my! Jeromy (the host) was such a delight to deal with and very prompt in answering questions before our arrival. He checked on our satisfaction periodically. All of us enjoyed the amenities and the vintage orange crusher in the kitchen (there's a fruit orchard in the huge property). The property is undergoing some landscaping upgrades, but the inside was squeaky clean and tidy. All in all, I'd strongly recommend this place for an extended family vacation with a short drive to the beautiful beaches of Pismo Beach. I look forward to renting the property again in the future.

Lovely getaway

Charming house in a beautiful setting. Something for everyone with the beach so close and wineries, too. Or just stay in and enjoy the pool. Perfect spot for meeting up between LA and San Francisco. The house had everything we needed, and plenty of nice spaces for hanging out or dining outside.
