Take the ferry to Tangiers Island, explore the cute shops in Kilmarnock, check out the local wineries, or just relax at the vacation-oriented house with water views to the front and rear. Listen to the waves and birds from the wrap-around deck. Three levels with full bathrooms and a queen or king bed on each floor. Large public beach with swimming nine miles away at Vir-Mar beach. While the house easily accommodates six, it is also ideal for two!

We (Parents 1 child) had such a wonderful time! Great views and quiet neighborhood. Our host made check-in and check-out a breeze! We spent our days at local events-Fairfield’s Pig Roast-EXTREME BOAT DOCKING Competition @ Buzzard’s Point Marina, Eating at Leadbelly’s on the water, DairyBarn serving Pizza/sandwiches/ice cream, Newsome’s, Breakfast at Little River Market(cooked to order pancakes!) plus breakfast biscuits! Everything was within 10 minutes from the house.

Unique Property

Fantastic location for a reunion of old friends!

We arrived to find this home very welcoming and beautiful. The location was perfect--quiet with the sound of birds and waves from the Chesapeake. The house itself was very comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with necessities. We were all very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely home!

Bay House

We rented this house over the 4th of July weekend with 2 other couples. The house was absolutely gorgeous! The cleanest house we have ever stayed in and very well stocked with everything you could need. Bedding was amazing! Very nice clean beach and shaded picnic area with plenty of picnic tables. We will definitely rent again!

Wonderful get away

It was what was needed , very relaxing house and beautiful place to stay. Wish we could have enjoyed the private beach but I understand why we weren’t allowed there. Still from the porch you were able to still enjoy the water and sounds.

Romantic Getaway

This is a unique and beautifully decorated home steps from the bay. The neighborhood is quiet and you can sit on the porch and listen to the waves crash. The owner has the house fully stocked with everything you need. We slept in the master suite and the bed was very comfortable. Owner is great to deal with and very responsive!

Beautiful Home

A beautiful, well maintained, well equipped home in a very Eclectic neighborhood. However, the exterior has been neglected for years. The yard is overgrown and the wraparound deck and stairs are in need of serious repair and staining. The stairs to the second floor master bedroom are very narrow winding staircase.

Thanks for the five star rating. We like the natural look for the garden and like the plants to grow naturally. We have hired a new gardener who is going to help repair the grass that has been damaged by summer heat and excessive mowing. He is also going to "lightly trim" the plants instead of the heavy trimming previously employed that we did not like. We recently planted a new bed of plants near the stairs. The deck was stained and treated a few years ago.. it is real wood. The circular staircase to the second floor is very sturdy - but we suggest not suitable for the elderly or very young!

The house is beautiful. Lots of natural light through all the windows and great views of the Bay across the way. Big deck for sitting out in nice weather. (Bring camp chairs as there is only seating for 4 on the deck). Well appointed kitchen with everything you'll need. The front yard is under construction and needs a little attention. The community beach is small and crowded, so plan to venture elsewhere. We traveled to Hughlett Nature Preserve beach near Kilmarnock and it was lovely. We took the Tangier Island Cruise and enjoyed the boat ride, but could have done without all the trump flags and merchandise at the island. Thanks for a fun family stay!

Nice house, cool neighborhood, isolated area

If you want to get away to the beach and just hang out this would be an ideal spot. If you want dining options, shopping or anything other than a view of the bay you may wish to look elsewhere. So depending on what you want to do, I’d either recommend it highly ot]r not at all. Key tip. You will need to bring most of what you wish to eat with you. The nearest grocery store is 30 mins away. There isn’t even a nearby convenience store. There are only two restaurants in town, and you may or may not get in.

Hi Kevin. Thank you for the four-star rating even-though the rural setting was not what you were looking for. Our welcome flyer suggests stopping at one of the two Food Lions nearest the property for fresh provisions prior to arrival. The two restaurants in-town are very popular, and it is helpful to have a reservation. The closest Food Lion is 15 miles from the house - and there is no traffic! Kilmarnock is the nearest major town about 20 miles away.

Excellent get-away

The octagon house was a wonderful get-away. It was just across a gravel street to the beach so it was perfect to be close enough to easily walk to the private beach but not pay the 'beach front prices'. We enjoyed a view of Chesapeake out of several windows. The little town of Reedville offered two excellent restaurants (Crazy Crab and Market) as well as an ice cream store and a very nicely done Fisherman's Museum. We had only allowed ourselves an hour for the museum and I would have liked at least 2. The house itself was clean and well furnished with extras such as soap, olive oil, ice, etc. The beds were comfortable and it was nice and cool when we arrived on the 95+ degree day. Parking was easy. As this is near a beach, the swimming was great, the water was warm, and bugs minimal. Lots of space to spread out and I appreciated that there were 6 seats for eating as well as enough dishes for a family of 6. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Fantastic property in a beautiful location.

The house was in great condition and was well stocked. Each sleeping area was on its own level which afforded the three couples enough privacy to enjoy the weekend. The home was closer to the water than the pictures led us to believe which was wonderful. You can enjoy water views from the main living area and the upstairs bedroom. The stars were amazing because of the low level of light pollution. Our host was extremely accommodating for our group when we had a special request.

Friendsavary

We met for a long weekend to celebrate being friends for 50 years. The house was beautiful and super clean. I have stayed at many VRBO’s. This house was so stocked with everything you may need. Very peaceful place to stay. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. This is a place to come for down time and relax. Perfect place for 3 couples to meet and spend a long weekend together. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a den area. I love this house. I would highly recommend for relaxation.

Relaxing spot and beautiful home

If you are looking for a unique home with beautiful sunrises, this is the place! John's place is spotless and has everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. We brought our paddleboards and kayaks to explore the area, swam at the beach and lounged on the deck. We stayed 5 days and had plenty to do. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Beautiful and relaxing getaway

The house itself is gorgeous. It had everything we needed and was perfect for the six of us. The sunrise over the water was beautiful. And John's recommendations for dinner and brunch were spot-on. We had brunch at the Tides Inn and it was absolutely delicious. We spent the day on Tangier Island (with the ferry leaving only 15 minutes away from the house). As mentioned by another reviewer, several houses have signs mentioning they do not want short-term renters as you drive in the area. The people we met were friendly. Plus, if you like bird and turtle watching, all you need to do is stand on the back porch of the house overlooking the water. The private beach with the picnic tables is also very nice and practical and wasn't crowded.

Birthday fishing trip

Nasty weather cut our fishing trip short, but we had a fun weekend anyway. The house is clean & cozy. The location right across the street from the bay is fantastic. The Property Manager is friendly, responsive & professional. We'd never been to Reedville before but loved the area & will definitely be back! Thanks John!

my family really need this weekend away

My family needed a get away because we just lost our pet Kobi (5yrs old). This house was amazing. It reminded us of all the lighthouses in Nags Head where we have travelled for over 30 yrs. The house was fully stocked with everything you need for a weekend getaway. Sleeping areas were great. The water was amazing, and the community was very nice. It was a little frightening in the beginning when we saw signs that said no short term rentals allowed but the neighbors ended up being very nice overall! We loved the weekend away and how accommodating the owners were. Thank you! Stovallclan
