Welcome to Cloud Nine: A Spacious Home Off The Blue Ridge Parkway. Where every season offers something special.

Cloud Nine is perched on top of Groundhog Mountain where you will enjoy gorgeous views of the piedmont and Pilot Mountain from our two large decks (one on each level). The view is equally mesmerizing at night when in addition to the stars, you can see the lights from Mount Airy and the twinkle of lights from the farmlands below.

Although there are numerous activity options nearby, the house is also an ideal setting for simple pleasures such as hanging out with friends and family, writing, reading by the fire, playing board games, morning yoga on the deck, wildlife watching, remote work, and general relaxation.

Our quiet neighborhood consists of a small enclave of homes surrounded by nature and wildlife. It is like living inside a park. You will have plenty of privacy without being totally isolated.

--- THE PROPERTY ---

Inside, you will find a light-filled and airy 2300 square-foot home with cathedral ceilings and a captivating view. Although the view is quite distracting, once you look away you will find a fully equipped kitchen, high speed internet, two gas fireplaces, multiple living areas, and a dedicated office space with a desk that faces the view. If you need to get away, but still need to work, this is an ideal place.

Although the upstairs is spacious enough to enjoy each other's company, the downstairs offers a second living space including a second living room with another smart TV, gas fireplace, covered deck, deck swing, two bedrooms, full bathroom, activity table, and wet bar which makes it easy for everyone to find the space they need to unwind.

Outside, you can enjoy the spectacular view from two spacious decks. You will feel like you are living in the clouds from our south facing top deck. The lower deck has a ceiling, making it a perfect spot on rainy days to hang out on the swings or one of the rocking chairs and enjoy a shady sanctuary.

Although the property is in a rural location, we are just a 20-60 minute scenic drive to so many different adventures! We will provide lots of information on these options when you book, but some of our favorite excursions include:

**Biking the New River Trail in nearby Galax, VA
**Hiking the many trails at Pilot Mountain State Park, Hanging Rock, and Rocky Knob
**Enjoying the shops and restaurants 30 minutes away in charming Mount Airy (Mayberry)
**Listening to the famous Live bluegrass on Friday nights in Floyd, VA
**Exploring the nearby wineries (Chateau Morrisette, Village Appalachia, Iron Heart Winery, and the Yadkin Valley wine trails)
**Golfing at the Skyland Lakes Golf Club, Old Mill Championship Golf Course & Resort, and Primland Resort
** Shopping for antiques, local art, and artisan creations at the unique stores in Meadows of Dan, Fancy Gap, Floyd, and downtown Hillsville.
** Coffee at Primitive a local coffee shop in Meadows of Dan and shopping across the street at Concord Corner Store and Poppys.
** Coffee at the famous Red Rooster Coffee in Floyd before hitting the Saturday Farmer's Market.

Have fun exploring the BRP and see why they call it America's favorite drive! Don't miss nearby Mabry Mill, the most photographed destination on the BRP! Did you know? The parkway is America's longest linear park, 469 miles of gorgeous scenery, overlooks, and extraordinary vistas throughout. Take your time cruising the road at 45 miles per hour and explore the exits to take in the art, music, and culture of the region.

This is truly a place where you can choose your own adventure or simply sit in a rocking chair basking in nature and enjoying the view. Either way, you will leave refreshed and restored.

--- GOOD-TO-KNOW INFO **PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING** ---

We are in a beautiful and rural location in the mountains. They say beauty has its price and the small price we pay is a lack of some conveniences. The nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away, and you can't get a pizza delivered. So, we recommend that you bring food in with you so you aren't stuck without dinner on your first night. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide spices, cooking spray and oils, aluminum foil, saran wrap, dishwashing tabs, paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, and laundry detergent.

Another thing about mountain life... We happily share it with lots of amazing wildlife including black bears, deer, bunnies, foxes, skunks, raccoons, groundhogs, bobcats, wild turkeys, snakes, newts, mice, birds, spiders, bats, and insects. You will encounter some or all of these native creatures during your stay. Needless to say, If you freak out when you see a bug or a bear, this might not be your happy place.

We have two, 50-inch smart TVs (one on each level). There is no cable service, but we do provide Netflix, Peacock TV, Paramount+ and a variety of free Samsung Channels. You can also sign into your own streaming accounts.

We are fortunate to have high speed internet in the mountains! It is typically very reliable and outages are rare, but they can happen. My husband and I have worked for months from Cloud Nine without any issues---dueling Zoom calls and all.

**For health and safety reasons, we are a 100% smoke-free property. This means smoking/vaping is not allowed inside, on the decks, or outside on the property.

**We love kids! Unfortunately, due to the height and nature of our decks and the steepness of our property, it is not as safe as we'd like for young children. We welcome children 12 and older.

** We have a Ring video doorbell at the front door. This is to monitor check-in traffic, the weather conditions, deliveries, and wildlife activity. The camera only captures activity from the driveway to the front door.

** We also love pets, but this is a pet -free rental out of respect for our family and guests with asthma and allergies.


Linens are provided: good quality bedding and towels

We have a washer and dryer on the lower level. Laundry detergent provided.

We have 2 Keurig coffee makers which will be stocked with a variety of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate pods for your enjoyment. We also have a reusable pod for ground coffee. Sugar and half and half are also provided.

Bathrooms: We have two full bathrooms, one on each level with separate vanity areas. Both bathrooms have modern showers, but no bathtubs.

There is driveway parking and plenty of room for 4 vehicles. This is uncovered, paved parking. You do not need a four wheel drive vehicle to access our property or the neighborhood, but if you are visiting in the winter months a four wheel drive does come in handy on the mountain roads if it snows.


After you request your reservation, we will send you our Cloud Nine Reservation Agreement via DocuSign to review and digitally sign and upload a copy of your government issued ID. Both are required to finalize your reservation and access the property at check-in.
