As you may have inferred by the name of this rental, our antique house comes with a lot of creaks and quirks that we love because it speaks volumes to the120+ years of memories that people have made in this living piece of history.

Our home is located in an ideal location that is walking distance to downtown Mount Airy, aka: Mayberry, close proximity to many highly rated wineries in the Yadkin Valley, 3 North Carolina State Parks, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The newly renovated house features 3 bedrooms including 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds, and 1.5 bathrooms. There is a great desk area upstairs that would be a perfect place for someone looking for a remote workspace. Finally, there is a great game room that is stocked with many family friendly games.

Beautiful home great stay, BUT if accessibility/ADA are an issue please be aware ahead of your stay as I was traveling with seniors, accessibility is a mainfeature when booking. There are two large sleeping areas on the ground floor so the inside home is not an issue, but actually entering the home may be an obstacle. First, the front door near the road, is not accessible from the outside, you must drop off individuals while they wait for you to pull around, park, go up the steep staircase, enter, go through the entire home and let them in the front door, which is what we did. The other issue was that both entrances for the front yard have stairs. The one near the curb, has fewer stairs, but no hand rail, so elderly had a harder time stepping up There is a second set of stairs beside the front porch, with a hand rail, but more stairs. They typically chose this one due to the hand rail. The back entrance has high steep stairs to access the back deck where you enter. Again it is doable but can become cumbersome on seniors.Overall the home is spacious and nice and a good place to stay. The owner was pleasant and responsive. The kitchen area had all the utensils and such to cook meals. Washer and dryer are provided as well. The upstairs doormer room was a nice space to sleep and work and have your own space away from others. The neighborhood was quiet but the road has fast traffic. It is aptly named creaky memories as this home talks to you throughout.

Creaky Memories is convenient to Downtown Mt.Airy as well as grocery stores. I would consider it an easy walk to downtown but it is fairly hilly, however, there is free parking close by (under 5 min drive). The check-in process was easy & straightforward. The property was clean and as described.

Every step was creaky.. nice place…only one tv..lots of stairs…not for elderly…nice it was close to Main Street.

We are renovating a home near by- we would’ve stayed longer if available. Very private lovely home. Wood floors are beautiful and we didn’t need a thing.H&L

This place is exactly what I was looking for. I flew down to North Carolina for my sons world wide scout Jamboree and it was located only 15 minutes away from the camp ground. Communication was quick and access to the home was simple. The home itself was very clean and the neighborhood was quiet. I would definitely recommend booking this home and hopefully in the future if I do visit I will book as well.

Very relaxing, comfortable home

This property was the perfect place for us to stay while exploring Mt. Airy. It's so convenient to downtown and in a very quiet neighborhood. Everything was bery clean and well organized. The rooms were large with comfortable furnishings and not overly decorated. We would definitely stay here again!

Sofa was worn out and very uncomfortable, bed was very uncomfortable and night time through the windows look like daylight, curtains missing and the back room and kitchen Location of house was great but not worth the money's charged

Pleasant Creaky Memories

The floors do creak, but enough to let you know you are in an older home but not a bother at all. With 1 1/2 baths and up to six guests staying it would be nice to add mirrors to each of the downstairs bedrooms to facilitate getting ready, in our case it was for a wedding. We would stay here again.

This house is over 100 years old. The floors, the doors, even the beds creak. It was charming! The kitchen was well-equipped and the location was great. We could walk to Main Street, restaurants, and the Andy Griffith Museum. We had a really fun time.

Great place

It was great. We loved the place. It was clean and had lots of space. The only thing is we were not told that the only way in was a flight of steps and my dad had a hard time going up and down the stairs. It’s not handicap approved. But other than that it was great.

Amazing!!

The house is soo pretty and clean. It’s much bigger than we thought which was a nice surprise. Everything about the house was just perfect! Definitely recommend this wonderful house; if I’m ever back in North Carolina I will stay here again :)

Second time around

This was our second visit to Mt. Airy after having such a nice time last year. Decided to bring 87 year old mom with us this time. We loved the house and how convenient it was to the sites and attractions. It was very clean and comfortable but needs mirrors in the bedrooms. Had a lovely stay.

LOVED! This little home was so comforting and reminded me of home!!

Y'all this home was an absolute love!! The old home reminded me of the old farmhouse I grew up in! With every step throughout the home, you have that creak of the floor that tells you that she is old but still as strong as she can be!! We really enjoyed this home away from home while our house was being fixed from the flood that we had over Christmas Eve!! I would most definitely stay there again if we ever have to be displaced from our home again!
