Studio on the water's edge of Penn Cove with hot tub and sauna spa area

The studio is in a separate building from the main house in this little slice of paradise that is a part of Ebeys National Historic Reserve and is on a beach right at the water's edge of Penn Cove. Nature abounds on this unique property, with eagles, hawks, gulls, owls, herons, oyster catchers and so many other birds showing up on the shores. You will often spot harbor seals, and the occasional otter and orca, too. Whether you are looking for a romantic and peaceful escape from city life, or an active few days exploring the numerous state parks, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, boating, antiquing, wine tasting at nearby island wineries, tasting locally produced ales, getting fresh produce from local farms, enjoying the quaint town of Coupeville, there are many options. The studio has a stove and refrigerator, so you are able to prepare light meals. There is an outdoor, under cover picnic area. There is also a cedar hot tub and sauna available for use. The use of the spa area is included in the quote, but you can opt out of this option, if you want. This property falls into the rain shadow and is south facing, so we often see sunshine when a lot of the Pacific Northwest is under cloud cover or rain. Located a few minutes from the town of Coupeville, and with Oak Harbor a few minutes in the other direction, State parks nearby, this studio located in a rural private enclave right on the water offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Please note that either myself and my husband or a caretaker will almost always be staying in the main house during your stay, so if any issues arise, would be able to address them as soon as is feasible.

For a limited time, we are also offering a basement suite in the main house with a separate private entrance that has a kitchen and its own separate hot tub and firepit area. See VRBO rental # 2989661. The availability is from August 4th to August 9th, 2026

We stayed for 3 nights on a trip with a motorcycle; the accommodations and hosts were amazing. They let us park our motorcycle safely in front of our room under the port. After a day of riding the hot tub was amazing to come back to. The chickens and ducks were fun to have around, always checking on us. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if we are back out this way.

Such a great little studio! Everything was lovely! The place is right on the water, close to town, and a very comfortable place to stay. The chickens and ducks were the highlight of our stay. Debbie was so kind, warm, and welcoming. Highly recommend.

What a great weekend at the Penn Cove Studio. The welcoming party were several colorful ducks and chickens! Adorable! Debbie and John were so kind and also welcoming, but they also gave me some nice privacy. The hot tub and sauna were excellent and the studio was charming, the bed was awesome. Right on the beach I wanted to stay longer. Thanks for your hospitality. Highly recommend

This was a beautiful stay right on the water. We loved the room, the hot tub, and the rocky beach walks. Everything was so nice and clean. My wife and I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the host even gave us some nice flowers and a card. Very responsive to questions and as helpful as could be. Whidbey Island is beautiful and is close to so many great sites. It’s a very quiet and peaceful spot.

The studio was great , the view spectacular. The owner on site and and doing yard work right around the house for our whole stay there, took away alot of privacy.

Even though it was a studio unit with two chairs there was really no place to sit & eat or play cards or a game except the bed. One of the chairs was broken, The support between two of the legs was not connected to the legs on one side so my husband put it back in place with his fist so it could be used. There were dishes and pans available and a nice stove to prepare food but the only place to wash dishes was a small bathroom sink. You were required to wash, dry and put away any dishes used but with no convenient sink it deterred you from using them. In the bathroom the sink was under a window but the mirror was over the toilet, so that was also rather inconvenient. The unit was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The view was beautiful and it was a very quiet location.

Hi Cheryl: I apologize for the problem with the chair. The previous renter did not report an issue and we did not notice it either. If you had let us know immediately upon discovering the problem, we would have taken care of it right away. Some guests have used the two chairs and one bedside table as a chair and table set. Most enjoy the outdoor table and seating in the spa area, which is under cover and has a great view. We have tried to make the most of the space in the studio to give guests the best possible experience. Since your stay, we have co-incidentally added a bar stool under the table in the small kitchen area, and one could use the second bed side table as a second bar stool, if needed, to multi-purpose. We have tried to show photographs of the place that reflect the reality of staying here, so as not to misrepresent what you see when stay here. The grounds and the studio were absolutely beautiful and the hosts were discreet yet so warm and inviting when we crossed paths! Such a cozy and perfect stay. We have another property we have been renting out in California for over ten years now on VRBO, so are very familiar with the requirements of what makes happy renters. We love to create space that is inviting and comfortable and pleasing to the eye. We look forward to sharing our little slice of heaven with you.

Location, location, location. No nearby neighbors and right on the water in a reserve. A few minute's drive to towns and shopping and also state parks. Relaxing and calm with a very comfortable interior, it is a wonderful place to unwind from city life.
