Lovely get away

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was the perfect amount if room for our party of 7. It is a great place to stay when you want to unplug!

Very quiet with plenty of space.

The location is far enough out of town to be peaceful but close enough to go into town if that's your thing. Would recommend and would stay again. Host is very nice. Thanks for a nice stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Black Mountain. Lovely, spacious cabin, well stocked and comfortable. A bit of noise and activity, including shooting from the rifle range at the nearby boys summer camp but we still had a great stay.

Peaceful mountain retreat

What a beautiful place for a vacation! This is our second time staying at the Albers, and it hasn’t disappointed. This cottage isn’t fancy, but it’s clean and comfortable, and you can’t beat the natural beauty and interesting history. The owner was also super nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the area and its history. We’ll be back!

Husband’s 60th Birthday

Amazing property with plenty of space and rentals for everyone who wanted to celebrate with us. Property has a cool history and was beautiful. Tucked away, yet close to everything. Leigh was great, and answered all my questions.

Home and property were as described. The grounds were really, really beautiful. Close to everything but very much in nature. Plenty of room for our family to stretch out. Would love to stay longer next time.

We had an amazing time at the Alber’s Cottage! It had plenty of space for our 3 teenagers (plus a friend) and the boys didn’t even have to share a room which they appreciated! We had exactly 35 hours to spend with our daughter who is a camp counselor close by and this place made our short visit with her even more enjoyable. We spent a lot of time by the fire pit behind the property and it was well stocked with wood which made it easy to build a fire. Finding the cottage the first time was a bit tricky but if you follow the instructions on the arrival instructions you will be fine. There is an open air barn on the property with a ping pong table and corn hole which was also a lot of fun. We were able to be outside even when it was raining. We watched fireworks from the property for July 4th that are set off by a boys camp next door. We even did a little fishing on the property. The sunset over the pond was beautiful! We spent a day exploring Black Mountain which was also a lot of fun! Such a cute little town! Lee was great to work with and made our stay even more enjoyable! We wouldn’t hesitate to book here again!

Great oldhouse

Very relaxing. Excellent wooded location for walking dog. Icemaker broken minor glitch. Well provisioned with toiletries garbag bags etc. cozy place. The kids enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs bedroom.

Rented this beautiful little cottage for family for daughter's nearby wedding. Absolutely charming and peaceful; lovely break from wedding stress. Daughter and bridesmaids were able to get ready for ceremony here as well. They loved the large open great room. Family said beds were all comfortable and they loved the beautiful surroundings. Perfect size to enjoy one another's company without being on top of each other. Very clean, great provisions, close to Asheville and Black Mountain. Overall excellent experience! I will definitely reach out again!

Beautiful mountain gateway

Great location , very clean house , loved the experience hiking around the house and felt very safe . The manager was very kind every time I needed . We got to the house late in the day which made hard to find it . Other than that no other issues . We definitely would stay again

Great cabin

Everything about this cabin was excellent. We especially loved sitting on the front deck in the evening sun and spending time in the older, more historic part of the cabin with the old stone fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped. Art and decor showed great individual taste - we would have done it in a similar way! There is one en-suite bathroom for the bedroom to the left of the door and another bathroom accessible from the dining area that serves the rest of the cabin. That worked well for us.

Lake Eden

Issues: the ceiling fans had cobwebs on them, the AC vents on the lower level had dust in them that was visible from afar, lightbulb out on lower level was out , attic access door in family room closet was wide open, key ring would not stay fastened so we replaced the ring so that we wouldn’t lose a key. Bright spots- Craig the property manager was great. Location to our extracurricular activities was great. Just Wished we knew ahead of time that we had no access to lake activities other than fishing.

Thank you for staying with us and providing the feedback which we passed forward to housekeeping to make sure they check the fans. It is part of their regular service to check bulbs but sorry we missed one. We keep a stockpile onsite whenever guests let us know of one that goes out. We did try to make clear the lake rules when you asked during the booking process but are sorry if somehow it wasn’t clear.

Black Mountain Getaway

Prof. Alber's House is a really cool place to stay. Very unique setting of the professor's house on an old wooded and meadowed college campus. I can only wonder what it was like in its heyday! The house was just as the photos show, everything was clean, neat, and organized. Lots of books to read. We had plenty of room and loved sitting on the back deck listening to nature. Leigh was very attentive to our needs, personally checking on us with Remy dog, batteries for the remote and having the lights on for our after-sundown arrival. In Black Mountain, numerous shops and restaurants and some live music. Looking forward to coming back to Lake Eden Retreat/Black Mountain College.

Property in poor condition

The property, while historic, was well past cabin shabby chic. The property is dilapidated and in need of a full renovation . The photos and price do not give a true representation of the dis-repair. The deck is rotting, baths are falling apart, doors are rotten and let in bugs. It has s potential, but truly should not have been up for rent in its current condition.

We are sorry this guest did not enjoy their stay. They did contact us via email about a bathroom faucet that had come loose which we apologized for and immediately sent a repair person to address. After multiple attempts to reach the guest again were not answered we were unaware of their dissatisfaction. The photos on this listing are all recent from within the last year but we will certainly take a close look at items mentioned to see if there are other repairs needed as none of our other recent guests have let us know of any issues and have not been identified during our regular walkthroughs and inspections. We care about our guest experience as our other 4 listings on this service all with many positive reviews hopefully relay.

Fantastic Stay in the Mountains with Family

We had a wonderful stay at Albers Cottage, which was inviting and warm, nestled in the woods and we enjoyed the privacy. House had extremely sturdy furniture with colorful rugs and art abounded and in terms of that all was perfect and the wifi worked pretty good. The kids shared they would have liked a bigger tv. We enjoyed time with family and that we were able to dine at the huge table all together. We all struggled with finding the cabin and the map made sense once we knew the lay of the land, but to be fair part of the charm is that it is tucked out of the way. We would definitely stay here again or maybe in one of the glampers at Eden Resort. One thing I especially appreciated is that typically we stay at cabins and they offer starter toilet paper etc..but we had enough toilet paper and dishwashing supplies etc. for our trip provided. Even fatwood to start a fire and nice pots and pans were in the cabinets including cutting boards, which we enjoyed when we cooked up our freshly caught trout. Thank you again, Leah and Eden Resorts! We will be back!

Awesome

Absolutely beautiful scenery and location. We had 5 adults and 2 children, and had plenty of space! Only issue I had was there are no smoke detectors or fire extinguishers, other than that it was a great place to stay!

90th birthday

Beautiful place and great location. Because we had two 90 years old we had to pull up the area rugs. I have to admit I slipped on them too. But other than that we enjoyed the rocking chairs, the fire pit every night and the moonlight. This place is very clean and a wonderful place to have our small gathering. Thank you
