When you first pull up to Sunshine Daydream, you will notice the quaint beach cottage that brings you back to early Topsail. The charming feel of this beach home is sure to set the tone for your vacation. Upon entering this retreat, you will see the kitchen immediately on your right, and then the living room in front of you. The dining table is located between the living room and the kitchen. The kitchen is an open L-shape with all the items needed to cook a great meal. The dining table is located directly off of the kitchen in front of a large oceanfront window. The table can be pulled out to seat four and the ocean can be seen from the dining area. This ocean-view living area has a TV and DVD player. Walk through the living area onto the oceanfront deck. You can also walk around the outside of the house to access the deck.

Quiet little home with good vibes. Overall clean and cozy with the exception of trash on the dunes next to the house. Disappointing that the city has built up a dune which limits direct Beach access. No cell phone service in the house. Overall a good experience.

Perfect Location, pet friendly cottage with character

This cottage is perfectly located steps from the beach. Close to amenities a short drive away yet far enough from the action to be quietly relaxing. Many attractions and restaurants nearby. Coffee in the morning on the deck with perfect views, afternoons on the sandy beach in the sun. Large windows across the beachside of the living room are amazing. Primary bedroom with new windows that open, wrapping around three sides was lovely. Cozy flat top cottage adequately furnished, great A/C and appears to have upgrades in the works. Perfect size for small family and pups.

A cute and cozy get away!

All in all our stay was amazing! Cute and cozy little house right on the ocean. When we arrived on our first night we soon found out that there was work being done on the beach and our section of beach was closed until the day before we left. The workers out there stated all the owners were communicated this, just wish we were as well. Our 1st night was loud as they worked through the night extending the beach. After the 1st night they moved down the beach and we had better rest. Our last day we were able to enjoy the beach with no big equipment. Amazing! There is no need to bring a coffee maker or hair dryer as both are there. The house was stocked with everything you needed from cooking, towels, silverware, etc. No problems with the bathroom drain or any smell as others have said. The only thing to bring extra is a softer blanket to have while sitting in the living room watching tv. All in all a great little place to be back and loved we could bring our dog with us! We will sure to be back! being done on

Sewage smell

The house itself, except for a bathtub that took many hours to drain, was fine and as advertised. However, there was an unfortunate stench of sewage so strong that it filled the house, even with all the windows closed. We had beautiful 62 degree and sunny weather for the first day, but had to keep the windows shut because of the nauseating smell (which still found a way in). A scented candle helped, but only a bit. The biggest issue, however, was the lack of response from Vacasa after we informed them of the bathtub problem. I emailed Vacasa the morning of day #2 of our 4 night stay and sent a followup email the next day, also requesting more coffee filters. Keep in mind that you will only be provided with one coffee filter per day for the coffee maker, so either don't plan on ever making that second pot, or bring some 8-12 cup basket filters with you. Everything is rationed - you will get 2 pods for doing laundry, so bring detergent if you think you will need to do more. I feel sorry for the owners to have such a poorly managed vacation rental. We've stayed in many over the years and have had great success with getting quick replies whenever anything has come up. We've still not received a single reply from Vacasa, and it's been over five days now since I sent the first email. We will not be returning.

Great view

This property has a great view for sure but definitely needs ALOT furniture, kitchenware & simple fixture upgrades. I saw another review from some time ago about the gate in the deck needing to be fixed and the management company reply that they would let the right people know. It still is a mess so if that’s important to you there really is no gate. Just some wood and looks like and old baby gate tied to the post that doesn’t lock. The tub was filling up with water so we left a day early so we could get proper showers. We did not report it while we were there since it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and weren’t going to complain and have someone on call to fix it. We did have a few questions and vacasa was excel what responding quickly. We did love the view and location. We probably would not rent this specific location again to be honest. It’s an older home with a lot of charm for those that don’t mind the datesness if the inside items.

Great little beach house

Great little house on the ocean, with the only exception being that the mattresses need to be replaced. Otherwise a lovely little cottage, perfect for a couple or small family.

Great space to rest and reset.

We loved the location of the property and the coziness. The age is showing in some spaces, while giving some character to the home it does require some adjustment on the residence part. The views were lovely, with the decor of the home being calm and relaxing. If you like the Grateful Dead, you will be in heaven! We were slightly disappointed with all of the empty puzzle boxes. I really wanted to try that wooden turtle puzzle. We will be back with our pups again soon.

Loved that so many details were covered....no need to pack extra toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher pods, linens, or even hair dryer! The only negative is that the gate off the deck is in shambles....possibly something that guests have patched together? Really rattletrap and unacceptable!

One of our favorites

This was our 7th stay at Sunshine Daydream. We love its proximity to the beach. This time there were new little touches that made our stay even nicer; the supply of soap, shampoo, conditioner and TP, cleaning supplies in the kitchen, the goodie bag for our dog. We enjoyed the new living room furniture

Great getaway spot

The location of the house to the beach was perfect. Plenty of room in the house. Good sized deck. Only contention was no full length drapes in the kitchen. Didn't like the feeling of being seen at night from the road. Other than that, I loved the huge window in the living room overlooking the ocean. Will definitely stay at this house again.

Nice, quiet, clean, oceanfront single home

You could sit on the back porch and watch the dolphins everyday and the way the house was set up, there was no wind on the porch, which was great for our January 60-70 degree trip!!

Classic Topsail cottage
