Mid Century Mountain Home on 3 acres - 10 Minutes to DGO - AC-Hot Tub-Views
Our 5 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom residence ("The Wright House") sits on 3 acres and offers views of the Hermosa Cliffs as well as privacy and seclusion, yet is only 10 minutes (6 miles) from Historic Downtown Durango and 20 minutes (20 miles) north to Purgatory Ski Resort.
This is a unique opportunity to stay in a residence originally built in 1962 and designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wrights students. The residence was completely remodeled and finished in early 2023 by the new owner remaining true to the period and making it much more than your typical vacation rental. The luxurious home is furnished with high quality period furnishings, Smart TVs with cable in 4 of the 5 bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and beautiful deck with a fire pit and valley views. Central AC was also installed.
The residence is perfect for multiple families as it features multiple living spaces, a private circular drive and plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers. It has great outdoor space with an 8 person hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating, and on property walking trails with access to national forest. It includes a complimentary Level 2 Tesla EV charger that can provide a full charge overnight.
The home is less then a 5 minute drive to the newly renovated Durango Hot Springs, Dalton Ranch Golf Club as well PJs Market and a great liquor store. Additionally it’s located on Country Road 203 know as one of the best cycling routes in Durango with fresh asphalt, quiet country atmosphere, and rides that extend to great destinations.

There are also 2 single roll away beds that can be placed anywhere (Deluxe Diplomat Folding Bed with memory foam mattress) they are actually comfortable.
The home is not pet friendly. Please do not bring your pets.
Note are also two other small cabins (2 Bedroom) that are also vacation rentals on the property that is approximately 40 yards away - there are no shared spaces. All the properties can be rented together if additional space is needed.
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

We had a very good stay. There was an issue with the entry code, but the property manager was very responsive and we were able to resolve that issue quickly.Pots and pans could use a refresh as the non-stick surface is peeling off of many of them, but the house was clean and there was plenty of space for our group.

Family Vacay
We picked a terrible week to visit to play in the snow, but the vrbo was roomy and clean (save a mouse or 2) and the property management was very responsive.

Well Equipped and Comfortable Stay!!
My friends and I had a girls weekend here and it was perfection. Lots of spaces to congregate, a very well stocked kitchen (lots of plates, glassware, utensils, pots/pans, sharp knives(!!) griddle!), and really cool design!

The Wright Place
The home was well located with plenty of space for the family. We wished the trees had been trimmed to allow for a better view.

Great house with plenty of room for everyone! Had one little problem and they were easy to get a hold of and handle the problem quickly! Definitely would stay here again.

Perfect home nestled among the trees
The home is close to grocery stores but far enough out of town to feel secluded. The home was clean and had absolutely everything we needed.
Loved all of the flowers and the lighting at night was nice.

We took our extended family of 6 adults and 6 children for a weeklong trip in June. Rental easily accommodated everyone. Super convenient to town and to the ski resort as well as multiple hikes. Kitchen was well stocked. Hot tub was clean and provided entertainment for the kids. Would stay here again.

We stayed here in June with our extended family—6 adults and 6 children—and it was perfect for our group. The rental was spacious and comfortably accommodated everyone. Location was excellent: super convenient to town, the ski resort, and several great hiking trails. The kitchen was well-stocked, which made meals easy, and the hot tub was clean and a big hit with the kids. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

5 guys and thier motorcycles
Worked great for our group with 5 bedrooms and room for our bikes in the garage was a plus. Remodeled,clean and perfect for our needs. The "MILD HOGS" will be back.

This was an excellent experience for myself and five other friends. We had plenty of room to stretch out and have privacy while also enjoying meals together and hot tub time. Location was extremely convenient as we were close to town for restaurants and also close to the ski area. Very clean and super responsive hosts. Well stocked with supplies for cooking and grilling. Cant wait to come back.

I have no complaints on this house, except that it wasn't clear what the expectations were on me (there was no document that I could find online or at the house. Maybe I missed it. We are quite tidy anyway, so I hope there were no issues with how we left the place (we did vacumme, do a trash run, and take the sheets and towels down). Exlcellent place I would use them again for sure!

Pulling up to the home, trash was scattered outside between the 2 properties. Inside the home was very clean. The property details listed 4 showers but 1 was not working. No notification about this before hand. Most electrical outlets were so loose they didn’t hold the plug ins. Glass sliding doors weren’t marked and we had several run ins with those. Air conditioner unit was not working properly. Top floor had no air, middle floor was fine and bottom floor was freezing. Had to leave windows opened for air & circulation. The outside air conditioner unit froze up and we ended up having to turn off the air completely. The people staying in the next door unit left trash out at check out and we had a bad bear problem for the first 3 days. With several younger children, this was very unpleasant and inconvenient for our family to be outside on the patio, hot tub and getting in and out of our vehicles. When the cleaning lady came to clean the unit next door, she was very kind and called for trash removal and report the bear. We realize this is part of nature but, trash was left unattended and there are no fore warnings of bears. The growth in the landscaping was very unmaintained and restricted our vision of our surroundings. Parking says available for 3-4 vehicles yet it is very limited space and shared with another unit.The interior photos were somewhat deceiving of the flow of the rooms of the home. We would not stay here again.

This stunning property has been beautifully remodeled and comfortably fit our two families. The house is perfectly located between Durango and Purgatory Ski resort. Be sure to stop at Honeyville on your way back from the mountain! We enjoyed having our coffee in the sun room taking in the gorgeous mountain views. The kitchen was spacious and clean which made cooking together quite enjoyable. The best part was soaking in the hot tub under the starry sky with a glass of wine! The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, and I truly wish we could live here. We can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer to see what the summer has to offer! Until then, it’s the best winter getaway!
