A Short's Walk - Sandy Lakefront with Spa / Hot Tub and Kayaks!
A Short's Walk is a gorgeous newly remodeled home right on Bass Lake in hip and trendy Elk Rapids! It includes a private sandy lakefront, large lakefront deck, NEW YEAR-ROUND SPA / HOT TUB, 2 kayaks, 2 bikes, a bonfire ring, a 1-car garage, and a gas grill. Plus high-speed Wi-Fi and live streaming television! Gorgeous lakeviews from inside! Grassy yard for kids. Washer and dryer. Also just a short approx. 150 yard walk from the famous Short's Brewery where you can drink and relax!
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The home is just outside of downtown Elk Rapids on Bass Lake. It is very close (approx. 150 yards) from the famous Short's Brewery in Elk Rapids, where you can dine and enjoy Short's famous beers. It's just a short drive (less than 5 minutes) to downtown Elk Rapids, which has a fun collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars. There's also a very nice beach on Lake Michigan at the end of the downtown area.
Outside of Elk Rapids, the cottage is close to the famous Torch Lake, Traverse City, Charlevoix, and Petoskey, all of which provide a myriad of things to do and see.
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests have access to the entire house, including the garage.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
(1) HOT TUB: To keep the hot tub clean, smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited while in the hot tub. If the hot tub is left excessively dirty, guests will be charged for draining, cleaning, and refilling the hot tub.
(2) FIREPLACE: Please note that guests are not permitted to use the indoor wood fireplace.
(3) PET POLICY: Up to 2 dogs are permitted at the property. If bringing 1 to 2 dogs, please make certain that they are included on the reservation and that the pet fee is appropriately paid. More than 3 dogs is strictly prohibited and any pets other than dogs are also strictly prohibited.
(4) AIR CONDITIONING: Please note that the property does NOT have air conditioning. As such, it may get warm in the house during the summer if it is warm outside.
(5) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.
(6) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.
(7) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

The property description was very accurate. The property was very comfortable, the view was great. We loved taking advantage of the hot tub and kayaks. The house does not have AC ( which we knew before hand) but the nice breeze off the lake and shade around the property made it comfortable. We would stay there again!

The house was very clean. Tabitha was easy to work with. We stayed in July & the lack of AC made it miserable to be in the house. Which was okay since there is only comfortable seating for 4 people for our group of 8. Things might have been different if it was a cooler month.

The house was great, the hot tub was a really nice but the star is the lake. I was out on the kayaks twice a day. Kitchen was fantastic for us as well. Location made it easy to walk over to the big lake and a short jaunt to downtown Elk Rapids. Which is picturesque as well. Only small issue was the yard was not mowed when we arrived but the host reached out and told us the lawn people would be there the next day. It made the backyard much more accessible and enjoyable. Bring some bug spray.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Elk Rapids. The host was very responsive. Access to the home was easy. The home was clean, had comfortable beds and the lakefront view was fabulous. We could fish and float/swim right off of the front of the house--the area is a sandy bottom, which was very nice. There are two kayaks provided, which was awesome and we enjoyed using those on the lake. They also provided several bikes, so we could bike into Elk Rapids and around the area, which was fun. The beach across M31 on Lake Michigan is very close and a great place to enjoy a beach and catch a sunset. Furthermore, you have close and easy access to great places to eat and shop. The hot tub is an extra bonus for sure! We would stay again!

This was a great stay for me, my partner and my two dogs. It was stunningly beautiful on the lake. Even in the cold weather, we really enjoyed the views and the hot tub. The home had pretty much everything we needed and was well thought out. Highly recommend!

Very close to lots of things to do, but still felt secluded. We loved the hot tub and the matress was very comfortable to sleep on. We enjoyed our stay.

The manager is great. Check in was easy. The kitchen is well appointed. Master bed comfy. However this property is not well maintained. No ability to lock sliding door at night. No blinds to block the sun which shines through the back all day. Consequently with no AC it is upwards of 80 degrees in the house. There was garbage from prior tenants in the trash can. There is plastic all over the back yard. The main shower and vent need to be replaced. The closet door in master is broken. The couch is stained and there is really no place comfortable to sit. Second bedroom has no lamps or nightstand. This property could be so nice with a little investment. Upgrade the fixtures. Clean the gutters and siding. Get some locks, blinds and better furniture. For the price we paid I expected a more updated property.

When we called for check-in to the property, the property manager told us that the house was extremely warm and there was no AC. She stated that she had taken an AC from the garage and put it in the upstairs window. Thankfully, we were near Big Rapids, and we stopped and got an additional AC unit (100). .When we arrived at the property, the smoke alarm was going off. We contacted the property manager who told us that it probably was just a battery. Nobody stopped by the property to ensure safety. In addition to this, the room that my children were staying in had a blood pressure medication pill in one of the dresser drawers. I am glad that my children are educated enough to bring medication to me, as that could’ve been a safety issue. Lastly, when my husband tested the hot tub, the chemicals were off. We contacted the property manager who stated that she checks the chemicals and there is no way the chemicals were off. They were, you could tell by the smell and the look of the water as well as the chemical strips stating it was off. Perks to the stay was the access to the lake and kayaks and the short walk to Shorts. Will not stay here a second time, as it’s too costly for what you get.

A great vacation destination!
From the beautiful view to the comfy beds to the cleanly hot tub, this place is definitely a spot to return to! All appliances work and were clean, check in process was a breeze, and the grounds were gorgeous.

This was our second visit and we loved it just as much as the first. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. We also got to see another deer this year on our last morning. Such a beautiful view. Another success fall trip north and staying in this home. We will be back.
