Overall it was ok. The host was very responsive and supportive with our requests and needs. The space itself is good for short trips and people that are out most of the time. We didn't know that there would be people upstairs. While they were not intrusive, they were extremely loud most hours of the evening making it difficult to relax and sleep at certain points. The place is in a convenient location near shops, restaurants, and public transit.

My daughter and I needed a place to stay while she had an externship in DC. This studio was an extremely good value. It was a 10-15 minute walk to the Rhode Island Metro Station, giving easy access to NoMa and downtown. There was also a grocery strore and several food options in easy walking distance. The host was also flexible with me when I needed to check out later than the indicated time. Only issue of note was that the garbage had not been taken out. The previous person staying there may have neglected to do so. Otherwise, we had a very good stay. This is definitely a grest option if you are looking to visit DC on a budget!

A Great Space

Welcoming, thoughtful host. A good sized space for DC, very well appointed. I'm accustomed to living in the sticks, never stayed in DC before. I was shocked at how quiet it was. If I return, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Would stay again

I would stay again here if its available for my next visit. Quite location in the middle of DC. Walkable distance to metro and variety of stores. Quality-brand new amenities. Nice private parking in the level of apartment which is easy to bring stuffs in and out. Responsive host. Visitors need to mind that this is a small basement apartment and a bit narrow entry for parking but not a deal breaker.

The studio apartment has everything you need and expect from a VRBO property and our host Nicolas was very attentive and excellent with all communications and questions. We were very comfortable in the accommodations. The only thing I regret is not checking on the distance from the metro (or from IAD) when arriving late at night. Nicolas made it as easy as possible but we would not have found it walking with our bags from the station. Thankfully we did use Lyft and arrived safely.

Budget friendly

The bed and couch to sleep are comfortable. Kitchen is new and stocked with basic needs. Laundry worked great. The furnace/ac unit is loud next to bed. Small car can fit in parking and house is in walking distance (15 minutes) to grocery store and metro.

Quick get away

Overall, our stay was underwhelming, and confusing on how to enter the space. The first night, the host had friends over and played loud music. The space was clean yet seemed to be Th down together.

Amanda, this is very unfortunate because days before you checked in I asked if you received the checkin details from Vrb and you responded yes. I am new to the platform and i thought it sent you the specific checkin details. Moving forward i will personally send the checkin details to each visitor so that there isn’t any confusion. I’m sorry you had a bad experience I let you come into my personal space a few times because of the confusion. As far as the music you are correct. I was seasoning up some food and played some music for about 10mins while i did that as you checked in. I will be more conscious of that in the future. Safe travels.

Cute little studio near Red line

This is a great little studio that's convientely located near the Red line (15 minute walk). The walk is up a hill, so if you're not feeling up to that after a day of sightseeing, you can take the D8 bus. The neighborhood is safe-ish, never had a problem walking to/from the apartment even late at nights, but you may have some people ask you for money. You're also very close to a Giant foods, which is handy. The host was very accomodating and even had bottled and sparkling water in the fridge when we arrived. The kitchen is well stocked and you could easily cook full meals if you wanted to. We recommend you stay here if you're coming to visit DC!

Nice extra long weekend

The coffee maker was a little dusty and around it was also dusty and there was open drinks in the fridge but everything else was clean! A review said it was cold, but I thought it was warm! (Maybe consider a fan to go with the heater) but I am hot natured. Not hot enough where I couldn’t sleep though. The location was good. We enjoyed the walk to the metro station and 7/11 is literally right down the street. Door dash and Ubers didn’t mind driving to the back alley. The neighbors were very nice and the host was helpful in answering all my questions and being available during my stay. I would definitely stay here again! Reasonable stay with a good price!

Would not recommend

Run down, dirty, worn, poor communication with host. NO HOT WATER. After informing host of no hot water (after leaving it running for 8 minutes) was told HE had hot water(upstairs). Host did not offer to walk down a flight of stairs to address problem, but that I should adjust the temperature on the heater. Bathroom; in addition to no hot water, no towel bar, broken toilet top, faucet on sink not attached. In addition the place had a “creepy “ feeling as the host access to the basement is via a glass door looking directly into the upstairs. Host lives upstairs and every footstep came through the ceiling very loudly well into the night. In addition, the air conditioner unit for the house is in a closet 2 feet from the bed and cycled on and off all night long, with no way to adjust the temperature. . In all, an unpleasant experience. When we informed the host we were leaving a day early, there was no response. BE WARE: deceptive advertising.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, but I must clarify that several statements in your review are not accurate. Regarding the issue with the door, it was unfortunately jammed due to mishandling by a previous guest. I communicated with you both via text and through the Vrbo platform before your arrival to make you aware of this and offer assistance, but you chose not to respond. As for the other concerns, the property is consistently maintained to a high standard, as reflected in the numerous 4 and 5-star reviews from other guests. The water system is uniform throughout the property, and no previous or subsequent guests have reported any issues with hot water. I strive to be a responsive and attentive host, and I always aim to address any concerns promptly. It’s disappointing that you left the property early without allowing me the opportunity to make things right during your stay. For future guests, I want to assure you that the property is accurately described and well cared for. I take all feedback seriously and use it to improve the experience for everyone who stays. Best regards, Nick

This guest was problematic from the moment of arrival. She did not read the clearly outlined check-in instructions sent well in advance, showed up at the wrong entrance, and then claimed she felt “unsafe” without making any real claims to Vrbo. The unit was clean, secure, and fully prepared—just as it has been for every other guest who left glowing reviews before and after her stay. Rather than communicate or ask for support, she left and initiated a credit card chargeback, effectively ghosting the reservation and causing financial damage. This guest abused the platform and the host-guest relationship. She should not be booking on Vrbo. I would strongly advise fellow hosts to avoid this guest altogether.
