Quiet and attractive part of the Marais in the 4th Arrondissement

Location: Paris Arrondissement 4, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (Saint Paul Metro-1 minute away)

Accommodations: Apartment-2 Bedrooms (1xQueen and 1x Option of Twin beds or Queen) – 1.5 Baths – (Sleeps 4)

Our apartment has the most amazing, convenient, sought-after location in the heart of Paris on the quiet side of the beautiful Marais district. After living in Paris for 5 years previously, in many different locations, this is truly one the best in terms of position.

Close to the Seine, Bastille, Opera, Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame, the Louvre, several open markets, Metro stations, buses, fashionable shops, and restaurants. All are within walking distance.

Since we purchased the apartment, it has been completely refurbished to create an elegant, stylish and highly practical space for short-term holidaymakers wishing for a distinct Parisian experience.

All the typical Parisian features of this 1850s apartment have been preserved: original oak floorboards, clay tiles, marble fireplace, and classic French windows opening to a calm, spacious courtyard.
Perfectly located on the 2nd floor WITH ELEVATOR this 55m2 (590 sq ft) space has a functional floor plan optimally redesigned.

The apartment is in rue Charlemagne, right next to metro Saint Paul in the Marais. It has a separate kitchen and separate WC. The kitchen is fully equipped and accessorized with classic glassware, cookware, and new white goods. It is a joy to cook the local market produce and you will save an enormous amount by being able to prepare your own meals.

The bathroom, which is large by Paris standards, has been completely remodeled and re-tiled with a second toilet so that the apartment comfortably accommodates 2 couples or a family. VERY FEW Paris apartments have 2 WCs. Included in the bathroom are a washer and a separate dryer.

There are 2 bedrooms. All linens, bedding and towels are provided. There is a queen-sized bed 160cm x 200cm (63 x 79 in) in the Master bedroom and 2 King singles 90cm x 200cm (35 x 79 in) which can be joined together to make a King double, in the 2nd bedroom. (The apartment is ideal for 4 persons.)
Minimum rental is 5 nights.

The rue Charlemagne neighborhood is quite special, in the heart of the Marais and on the peaceful side of Rue Rivoli. The closest Metro is on Place Saint Paul where the Line 1 Metro stops. On the other side of rue Charlemagne is Village Saint Paul with art galleries, antique shops, the Seine and Isle St Louis. In front of the Building doors is a street leading directly to the Seine where you can walk or ride a bikes to many sights.

Continuing on rue Charlemagne is the remains of the historic wall built by Philippe Auguste (before he went to the Crusades) as well as the impressive Lycee Charlemagne. It is a typically Parisian area inhabited by Parisians.

Beautiful Flat in Paris

This flat was beautiful. It was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Also it was close to so many attractions. Enzo was very pleasant to work with, and made sure we had all the information we needed. We will definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay in Paris

The apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. Specific directions on operating appliances were very helpful. Comfortable beds. Nice shower. Quiet street but easy walk to many tourists attractions and metro. Good restaurants and boulangeries within walking distance. Enzo was very helpful and accommodating. Good communication. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Such a great location!

Everything was super smooth with someone waiting to let us in (with bread in hand), even though our flight had arrived late and we took a long time to get in. The location was perfect with a lot of awesome shopping and restaurants right behind us as well as a metro entrance. The space was a perfect fit for my husband and I and our two kids and they were so great to work with after leaving a stain I was very worried about. We'd definitely stay here again if we can make it back someday!

A Quiet Respite from the Hustle of the City

My wife, daughter, daughter's friend and I stayed at this apartment at the end of July and it was wonderful. Two bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths were perfect with two teenage girls. The apartment is on a quiet street and it is on the courtyard side of the building so it is especially quiet. The apartment is conveniently located a block from the St. Paul metro station on the No. 1 line, which is one of the main lines on the Paris metro which let's you connect to virtually every other line on the system. So it is extremely easy to get around the city from the apartment. It is also only two blocks from the Seine which allowed us to take several lovely evening strolls along the river. The neighborhood is very safe and has a lot of shops and restaurants. We never had to venture more than a couple of blocks to have wonderful meals at sidewalk bistros. But our favorite restaurant was Ches Mademoiselle which is actually in the same building as the apartment. Very convenient after a couple of bottles of wine! The apartment was exactly as advertised on VRBO, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped, the bathrooms modern and fully equipped. Stephen and his wife have equipped the apartment with all the comforts of home and they conveniently provided written instructions on how to work all of the European appliances, including the full size washer and dryer! They were extremely easy to deal with, responsive to all of our question and emails and they provided a comprehensive Welcome Book packed with info on the apartment, the neighborhood and Paris. As owners of two condos we list on VRBO we appreciate the small things that make for a truly comfortable stay, and this apartment had the small things and the big things thoroughly covered. We will definitely be back! Thank you Stephen and Wife of Clown, Mother of Four! (You will have to rent the apartment to understand what that means!)

C’est super!

The perfect place to stay while exploring Paris. Our family of 4 were extremely comfortable and found the apartment to be perfect for all our needs. The apartment is conveniently located to the metro, shopping, and close to the main streets for exploring the city. Catherine & Steven are the consummate hosts and were helpful in answering any questions we had from the initial booking to our final departure. I will book this apartment again on my next trip to Paris!

our lovely stay

We were 3 friends spending a week in Paris to celebrate a milestone birthday. This was a perfect spot for us. The property is in a lovely building with an open courtyard and is perfectly located in the neighborhood. In spite of the very high temperatures in Paris, our apartment remained cool and comfortable with a great cross breeze and the fans provided. The building and street were quiet and the apartment was well appointed. We had everything we needed and more. I highly recommend!

Lovely apartment in an old building with charming courtyard

Everything was easy, lots of communication. Apartment had everything we needed included the always desired washer and dryer. Two full bedrooms and a comfy couch if needed for sleeping.

Fabulous location

Our teenager had her own room and 1/2 bath. We had a toilet, sink and shower and a bedroom. Nice living room space. Kitchen and bathrooms were adequate. Elevator and windows over the courtyard.

Perfect family vacation in Paris

This was a fantastic apartment and just what we wanted for our week in Paris. -excellent location near multiple metro and bus lines, and easy walking distance to cafes and sights -elevator to help with luggage -separate bedroom with twin beds for the kids -ample closet space -washer and dryer -second (half) bathroom -many nearby cafes and shops - we loved Paul, Manon, and les petites bouchees -grocery store and pharmacy next door -courtyard exits on main street but the apartment is very quiet -easy communication with owner A real gem - we would definitely choose again!

Christmas vacation

The apartment was perfect - just the right size for 4 people. We had easy access to the metro and shops where we could buy food, wine, cheese, chocolates, fresh seafood, etc. It was so nice to be able to explore Paris and then have this wonderful apartment to go to at the end of the day. I highly recommend it.

A Great Paris Stay!

The perfect Marais apartment!

We absolutely loved our stay at Steven and Cathryn’s apartment in the Marais and would highly recommend it to others looking for the perfect Paris experience. Our hosts were wonderful to work with, and the apartment was very well appointed and immaculate. It was like staying in a luxury hotel with the added bonus of a comfortable lounge and kitchen. Shops and the Metro are just steps away making it the perfect home base for exploring Paris. We would definitely stay again.

Charming apartment, ideal location

Ideally located in a quiet street steps away from two different metro lines in the Marais. Apartment stayed cool during our August visit and was perfect for our family of 4. Super organized owners made the process so easy. Highly recommend.

Beautiful apartment in the perfect location to explore Paris

Four of us stayed in this lovely apartment while visiting Paris. It is on a quiet street but so close to shops, bakeries, restaurants and the Metro. We were there during an unseasonably hot week but the apartment was very comfortable with just a few fans and the windows open. Cathy, the owner was so helpful in providing recommendations for activities and was immediately responsive to us when we needed help,with the television! Would definitely stay here again!

Very comfortable and convenient rental close to the Seine, Notre Dame, and the wonderful Marais

I highly recommend this rental! We found the apartment to be very clean and the bedding comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for everything we needed during our stay. The apartment has some fun amenities such as an XBox, (the kids loved) games, and helpful books and ideas for the area. The location is truly ideal. Close to the St Paul stop on the metro and my personal favorite convenience was a fantastic pastry shop on the corner to stop for a fast breakfast before a day in the city. The owners were very prompt and friendly with communication. A top experience!

Location, location, location!

This apartment was perfectly located for our holiday week in Paris.  We stayed over 2017 New Year's Eve for our 1st visit to Paris. It’s centrally located in the charming Le Marais neighborhood, near tons of great shopping, restaurants, markets and cafes (as well as the metro).  But it’s also located inside a courtyard, on a relatively quiet street, so you deal with almost no street noise.  So it’s the best of both worlds! Communication with the owners was prompt and easy, and the home is well cared for and in excellent shape. The owners also  were extremely helpful with recommendations for dining—it made our New Year's Eve even so much better! Getting reservations on that night is next to impossible if you don't plan ahead. Having a washer dryer in the apartment was also a big plus.

My name is Steven Bishop, I am an Australian Clown/Artistic Coach working for Cirque du Soleil and Palazzo Theatre, currently waiting to resume performing in Asia and Europe with Cirque's new show BAZZAR. My wife and youngest son join me on tour whilst our other 3 children are working professionally in Australia. I have been traveling and working with Cirque since 2005. Our children grew up with the Circus and it was our family home for 10 years. (Slight hiatus for 2020/2021 due to Covid but we will be back entertaining crowds very soon.)

For many years, Cathryn and I had dreamed of owning an apartment in Paris. When a friend called and said she had found this gem in rue Charlemagne, we knew our dream had come true.

Our apartment in Paris is our 'pied de terre' whilst we tour with Cirque. It has been renovated with our large family in mind and the result has been beyond our expectations. We have used our extensive touring experience to equip the apartment with the essentials desired by short-term travelers for quality living. As we continue our touring experiences we have great pleasure in bringing back to the apartment a few of our favorite things which we collect along the way.

Paris holds a significant place in our hearts. We have many good friends and mentors here. Both, Cathryn and I spent a very important part of our growth and development as people and performers in various regions of France. We learned to stilt walk in Paris, “dorter des onions”, and cook a mean couscous…..we learned the art of “la joie de vivre”.

It was in Paris, on the right bank of the Seine, on a warm June day, before a crowded passing “bateaux mouches”, that I proposed to Cathryn. My wife and I have since brought our “fabulous four” children to Paris and in turn they too have each discovered a part of themselves here.

It was also in Paris where I discovered my clown at the Ecole Jacque Lecoq theatre school. How could I have known that performing this clown with Cirque du Soleil, touring all over the world, would one day help bring me back here to a place of my own?

This is my story of Paris. For wherever I go I take it with me, as it is my “moveable feast” and the place in which I feel both at home and inspired.

Located in the heart of le Marais surrounded by cafes, boutiques, and markets ensures a unique Parisian experience which is, believe it or not, getting harder and harder to find in Paris.

And when you want to be a tourist and visit the museums, sights, and spectacles, you are in the hub for metro, bus, and bike routes. The central location provides for the needs of all members of a family or group with different interests. Being 'close to everything' means you can leave and return easily at your leisure, instead of having to pack for a full day out and about.
