The view was great! We watched the nearby college students row their large row boats close to the cabin! All went well! We will stay here again. The river was clean and did not have an odor!

When initially checking in looked like no one cleaned with messy beds and dirty towels on the floor. Listed as 2 rooms but one room is completely open to the living room with no privacy. The bathroom and other bedroom do not even have door handles. Previous reviews noted no WiFi and broken TV in the living room and those issues were still there. Also multiple non working lights and outlets. Additionally the central heat was broken and the pellet heater had no pellets. The grill listed was rusty and dirty so was unusable. The river was nice and pretty views from the cabin but the “walkway” to the river is definitely a safety hazard with multiple loose steps. Messaged host about some issues but the responses were not helpful. The listing also did not include that they have security cameras outside the cabin which should have been disclosed. Over all disappointed in the stay, not usually one to complain but just so many inconveniences.

We had a great time. The home was very comfortable and the view of the river was wonderful. I will definitely stay at tis home again.

While an ideal setting for our intended use it was disappointing to find; no operable Wifi servcie including TV. As a rsult of no wifi, mobile telephone access was very poor, essentially no dressers for clothing, minimal flatware/dishes and uncomfortable living area furniture. Of particiular disappoinment was almost no shower water pressure- a trickle most times and minimal 'mixing' capability.There was also lack of clarity how to operate lighting and fans; I was unable to discover how to operate overhead lighting in main bedroom throughout the stay.All these items are very fixable and would yield from me a far more favorable rating.Because of the positive features of the setting I would consider re-rental if the above deficiences/issues were resolved.

Know that the property is very difficult to locate, especially after dark. The maps location was not accurate enough to identify the property, and when I contacted the host, I was essentially advised to look at the listing photos and match the carport to find the correct place. If you’re arriving at night, I strongly recommend having photos of the exterior saved and readily available.Privacy is also something guests should be aware of. None of the rooms had actual door handles. The bathroom at least had a latch, but one of the advertised bedrooms is really a sunroom with a screen divider providing the only privacy. The walls of the other bedroom des not extend all the way to the ceiling, so sound and privacy are limited throughout the house.The living room TV was broken when I arrived. I notified the host on the first day, but no solution or alternative was offered during my stay. The water had a very strong sulfur smell, and the shower pressure was virtually nonexistent.The house also has what seemed like roughly 20 light switches, many of which appeared to do nothing, making it surprisingly difficult to figure out the lighting. The only air conditioning I found was a window unit located in the sunroom.Communication with the host was responsive in the sense that I received replies, but the responses felt very generic and automated rather than personal or helpful. (Chat bot)Also, while yes, on the water, highway noise very prevalent directly across the river.

Relaxing time at The Nest!

Good stay - Convenience to area restaurants, shopping, and casino. Most importantly, VERY clean! Atmosphere is relaxing- wildlife watching- some traffic noise, highway across the river, but still pleasant. Bed comfort 3/5, & some sulfur smell in the water, but the host has done a great job updating the property- we would stay again!

Host was not returning any answers to my questions. Told my husband i do not feel good about this one. And sure enough 23 hrs before check in i get a message that our reservation has been cancelled. Now where are 4 people and 3 dogs gonna stay. Contacted another VRBO and she tried to upcharge use 400 because we were desperate. I get 10 days vacation a yr off from work and wasted 2 on this weekend that never happened. Thabks for nothing.

Clean, but many basics were missing- No door to the bedroom, no door handle on the bathroom, undrinkable water, wifi did not work, TV broken, etc - Definitely needs some TLC. However, the location is safe and covenient to Owego with cute stores and restaurants.

Not as advertised but not awful

We had a good stay here, the place is really clean and has everything you need. There were quite a few things broken that we informed the host about and the outdoor pics are not what is actually onsite. The highway is also very loud. It is very close to Owego and a great place if you want to stay indoors.

We had trouble with both tvs. One we couldn't find the remote, couldn't get it to work. The other died while we were watching it. The manager is not quick to respond or get back to us.

Decent stay for the price

Overall this is a nice place to stay . We saw many animals in the area which was great . We were comfortable and the view was relaxing . A toaster would be a nice additive and maybe a better coffee maker , especially if you drink a few cups in the morning. We did have some internet problems while we stayed . Normally wouldn’t be a problem except we were having to use extra cell phone data to compensate for the loss of Internet . Happy it was fixed but also had to be present for the spectrum people to come during our stay “ which took 2 hours “ .

Beautiful location but…

The deck and proximity to the river and park are perfect. Fireflies at night, but also a lot of road noise from across the river. There are holes in almost all the screens so by the 2nd night of sleeping with the windows open, we had insects inside. The house set up was open and carpets are new. The kitchen could use more supplies like a colander and baking dish. We left a new, larger frying pan. I appreciated the aloe and basil plants. Wish the bedsheets were cotton instead of synthetic sheets that are hot in the summer time. Overall, we had a great stay but with some inconvenience.

The interior was neat, clean and spacious. The kitchen was nice with all kitchen needs available. The Nest was listed as having AC, but no picture of the unit. I wanted AC. Upon arrival, there was one small window AC unit which was not as expected. The firepit view of the river was a selling point and the view was blocked by overgrowth about 8 feet tall. Not at all what was presented by the owner. The grass had not been cut in over two weeks. A message was sent to me that the grass would be cut, 5 days later still no grass cut. The Nest is not what is portrayed in the pictures. No response from owner when a message was sent on the day I departed. Nothing since either.

A Nice Place, Wished for More Transparency

This cabin was very beautiful and the amenities were lovely! We enjoyed the firepit and the cleanliness of the place (we stayed after another group had been there for 2 weeks, and you couldn't tell at all, which is amazing!). The space was pet-friendly which we appreciated and the table was spacious enough for some material-hefty board games! Unfortunately, there are no curtains in the living room or one of the bedrooms (making sleeping pretty difficult in those areas) and the second bedroom has no door. We ended up removing a shower curtain from the bathroom and hanging it above the frame for a semblance of privacy. Additionally, riverfront access was only possible if you wished to walk through a mess of tall grasses and weeds. I guess "venture in at your own risk" wasn't about swimming, but more about ticks? Overall, a nice space! Some small improvements would really take this cabin up a notch to something I could suggest to others.

The property was not ready when we arrived. Dogs or humans had peed on the sofa and carpets. The cleaners worked hard to address but not successfully. the previous guests had broken the TV, stole paper products, stole most of the cooking utensils and left a mess on the BBQ grill and cooking tools were left on the grill...used. The carpets were wet from the cleaners scrambling to address pee smell. New towels and curtains had to be purchased. The doors to the property are all warped and do not lock correctly. One of the bedroom doors is missing. This property needs work and I will be very careful to not just assume a VRBO property is a good one. This is the property owners fault not the cleaning crew. They were working hard to make our stay as nice as possible. There is also a stove/heater vent that is not up to building code. It protrudes one foot onto the deck walkway and is not covered which can lead to burns or fires in the building. This place needs a VRBO inspection. It also needs a County/Town Building official to check it out.
