Nestled amidst the lush gardens of the property’s quaint & quiet private courtyard, you’ll find your cozy cottage perched just a few** steps above the (proverbial) ‘Dock on the Bay’. With views overlooking the bay and back dropped by the eponymous SF skyline, you’ll be hard-pressed to determine whether or not to perch-out under the serene Sausalito sun while watching the tide roll-away, or, lounge the day away with a good book and cool breeze to keep you company. Had an amazing trip, such a beautiful location with great views, very clean and cozy and the host was extremely friendly and helpful. The entire atmosphere and experience was just perfect, couldn’t have asked for better.

Bit of a challenge lugging luggage up to the property but the host helped and it was a very charming place overall, and so close to town, which was what we wanted.

We loved Charlie’s little guest house. So quaint and well cared for with great views and walking access to downtown Sausalito. Loved the little porch out front and watching the swirling summer fog in SF. Charlie is very friendly and easy to reach by phone. Make sure you pack light and can walk up a lot of uneven stairs.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights with our 1 year old Jack. The place was absolutely spectacular, with breathtaking views of the bay and SF from all the windows of the house. It's super walkable to town, and we really enjoyed all the nautical decor. Charles and his family were very accommodating and even carried our pack n play up the steps for us. Would definitely stay here again.

Charlie's communication and accommodations made our trip even more charming! Fabulous views and walking distance to numerous venues. We had everything we needed for our stay. We'll be back!

I booked this property because my mom has cancer and needed radiation in San Francisco.When I explained that there was no way she could climb the stairs, no offer of a refund, even partial was made. The description did not give warning.

My sister-in-law and I stayed for 2 nights at this magical, beautiful, welcoming, ideally-located place. It felt like a week. Our host, Charlie, made everything very easy and comfortable for us. You can’t beat the views. Would stay there again.

Facts: Host identified a "few steps" in description of property, upon booking host states 50 steps- fact more than 80 steps with rope as handrail. Parking host implies "unlikely a problem", City parking signs identify 2 HOUR parking 7:00 AM-6;30 PM. Fact: car must be moved every two hours. Public parking lot cost 18.00/hour. It required 1 hour to locate initial parking to check in. Host identified available to be reached, check in time, 4:00 PM, host was called however host did not respond until 9:30 PM . Host was argumentative, very unprofessional and unpleasant.

The cottage is located at a very beautiful area.We can watch sunset n sunrise in the cottage. There are plenty of excellent restaurants/shops in walking distancefrom the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Charlie was very nice and the checkin was seamless. Highly recommended.

My Favorite New Sausalito Getaway

This beautiful bungalow is an absolute gem! It's perfect for a romantic getaway, solo writing escape, or a long weekend in a beautiful California town. We loved absolutely everything about this place, and the host was so friendly, helpful, and a very cool dude. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great location and views

Property is in walking distance to downtown Sausalito and many shops and restaurants. The property is high up on the hillside, with great views of the bay.

Cozy Getaway

Small cozy quiet property located just off the water overlooking the bay. Clear view of the bay bridge. Heater works wonderfully for the chilly Bay Area breeze and the little wood burning fireplace works wonders when the fog rolls in. Owner of the property even helped us bring our bags all the way up. Very friendly, would recommend!

Beautiful Stayover

We had to fill a gap before our flight for two nights and this was a lovely spot. beautiful view from the deck, lovely patio, privacy and close to the market and coffee bar. And on the quiet end of the waterfront in Sausalito. Just fit two adults upstairs and one teen on the downstairs pull out. There are lots of stairs up, which was not a problem for us. Charming.

Do not ever stay at this property unless a helicopter lowers you to the front door from the sky. Even if you don’t need to park a car and drag your luggage from god-knows-where you will still have to contend with 90 steep, dangerous, slippery steps to ascend and descend from this place. Bring groceries, don’t bother because the kitchen is hardly equipped. Toilet paper? BYO. I could go on but believe me, this place SUCKS!

It’s a great place to stay, but need to fix the wifi

Th space and the location is great. My biggest issue was no WiFi connection in the space. I couldn’t do any work at all. Reaching out was a struggle, Charlie did eventually respond and offered me to use the WiFi in his apt. Unfortunately, I can’t bring everything back and forth in the dark. I want to love my stay but it was just to sleep. It was tough.

Comfortable cottage above the beaten path

Don't let the 86 stairs and parking challenge keep you away from this quaint cottage on the hill above the bay! Beautiful million dollar views of both the bay and Sausalito skyline from your private deck where you can enjoy morning coffee as the sun rises over the bay. A short walk away is Golden Gate Market, a convenient neighborhood market with friendly helpful staff and surprisingly well stocked with groceries and delicious prepared food packaged for take-a-way meals. The Italian restaurant Aurora is also within walking distance - fabulous food, friendly service and away from the crowds. I loved the location of this property as I felt more like a Sausalito local and less of a tourist but if it's the tourist's experience you desire it's just a scenic walk away down Bridgeway along the bay. Best of both worlds.

Charming hideaway in a fantastic location. Walk to everything in Sausalito. Wonderful views. However, there are some caveats. The cottage is accessed by a series of 60 irregular steps. Do not book this if you have any kind of mobility issues. Same concern with the bedroom stairs - steep with incomplete railing. Also bedroom and stair ceilings are very low so not great if you're 5'9" or taller. Kitchen was a little disappointing. Microwave had dried-on food. No dish soap or cutting board. In spite of these challenges, the cottage is a fun stay for an adventurous couple.

Great landlord! He does need to include that there are 55 stairs leading up to the cottage. Terrific views of the Bay. He was very hospitable to us and generously helped with a few problems. The price is really understood since he allowed us to bring our two large Golden Retrievers with us.
