Communication with the host was great up until check-in, which was smooth and easy. After checking in, I messaged because a remote was missing upstairs and asked if they knew where it was, but never received a response. Saturday morning I messaged asking for checkout instructions so we could prepare for the next morning, but only received the scheduled automated message a few hours later. Nothing major happened during our stay, but the lack of communication was frustrating.Cleanliness was our biggest complaint. There was mold in the top of the Keurig, and we found utensils and a cup put away dirty. The upstairs shower has no hair catch, so previous guests' hair collects in the drain and the tub fills while showering. The downstairs bedroom AC isn't sealed properly, allowing MANY bugs inside. Ourast night I taped paper towels around the seals to try and keep the bugs out. We also found a few dead bugs, one in the freezer, so it was clear cleaning was not very thorough beyond bathrooms, bedding and towels. There's also a property across the shared driveway that appears abandoned and unkept. This may be outside the host's control, but as six women arriving, it was unnerving seeing at check-in.We appreciated the early check-in and complimentary firewood. However, due to the cleanliness, overall condition, and lack of communication after check-in, we would not stay again. It felt more like someone's lived-in home than a professionally maintained rental.
