We’re a North Carolina family who loves the mountains, rivers, and the kind of relaxed adventure that only this part of the world can offer. We built The River Bed as a retreat for families and friends who want to unplug, fish, hike, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy the sound of the river. Hosting gives us the chance to share a place we love—designed with comfort, nature, and connection in mind.

We chose this spot because it feels like a hidden pocket of Western North Carolina that hasn’t been overrun. The property sits right on the South Toe River, with private trails, mountain views, and no neighbors in sight. You can fish out the back door, float the river, or just sit by the fire pit and listen to the water. It’s quiet, wild, and still just a short drive to Burnsville or Mount Mitchell. For us, it’s the perfect balance of seclusion and access.

The River Bed is set up for people who actually want to use the outdoors—not just look at it. You’ve got direct river access for fishing or floating, a massive hot tub backed by a boulder amphitheater, and private hiking trails that start on the property. Inside, it’s mountain-modern with all the comforts—huge TVs, double masters, and a bunk room that sleeps a crowd. Every bedroom has porch access and mountain views, and the whole place is built for groups who want to connect, relax, and get outside.
