We do wish you would have reached out to us about any concerns with cleanliness or curtains, we would have been happy to address those immediately during your stay. We're also looking into adding curtains to the front porch window for future guests. Regarding the bear activity, we understand this can be unsettling, but we want to note that bear activity in rural Colorado, especially in properties near a river like this one, is very normal and something we monitor closely. In fact, we sent an email the day before your check in, which our records show was viewed, letting you know we had seen recent bear activity in the area and asking you to be bear aware during your stay. We're disappointed to see this review, especially given the advance notice we provided. This home has consistently earned countless 5 star reviews from guests who loved their stay, and we'll continue doing everything we can to make sure every guest feels informed and comfortable from the moment they arrive.

To help guests prepare for arrival, we send an automated message on the morning of check-in reminding guests to download the property address and check-in instructions in advance, as cell service becomes limited as you get closer to the home. We also provide detailed driving directions with photos in the check-in instructions to make locating the property as easy as possible. Regarding trash disposal, the code for the shed is included in the Guest Guidebook, which is available through your Boarding Pass link throughout your stay. We wish you had reached out while you were here, as we would have been more than happy to help you locate the information or answer any questions. As a pet-friendly home, we kindly ask guests traveling with pets to keep them off the furniture to help maintain the home and its furnishings for future guests. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the location, creek access, and proximity to Vallecito Lake and Durango, but we’re very sorry for the issues you experienced. Cleanliness: We apologize for the condition of the rug and any odor you encountered. This should have been addressed before your arrival, and we’ve scheduled a full deep cleaning and rug replacement. Rodents: We understand how unsettling this must have been. While the cabin’s mountain setting makes mice more active in colder months, this should not affect guests. The home currently receives bi-weekly pest control, but we are upgrading to weekly service to address the increase in activity. Bed, Linens & Kitchen: We are replacing the queen mattress, adding new linens and towels, and updating cookware. We apologize that sponges and cleaning supplies were missed—we normally provide these essentials and will ensure they are fully stocked moving forward. Transparency: We do disclose in all listings that “Guests will be sent a vacation rental agreement by Durango Colorado Vacations to e-sign at the time of booking.” The damage waiver or vacation rental insurance is separate, automatically included in every reservation, and provides coverage for accidental damages during a stay. We apologize for any confusion this caused. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve. With these changes, we’re confident the cabin will provide a much more comfortable experience for future guests.
