Guests should note that the slope from the lifts to the back door is on the steeper side, so skiing in is easy, but climbing back up requires a bit of effort. For future guests considering 16 Forest Road, we would like to provide some additional context regarding the items mentioned in this review. This home is located in a mountain environment where encounters with wildlife, including bears, are a natural possibility. While bears were observed on exterior areas of the property during this stay, no bear entered the home. Guests staying in this area should be bear aware and follow standard wildlife-safety practices, particularly regarding food and garbage. Regarding the home's windows, screens, ventilation, and temperature, these are important considerations for summer guests. The property's windows are not designed to accommodate traditional screens, and some windows have limitations in their operation. Additional fans were provided when concerns about the temperature were brought to the attention of the property care team. We have also documented the additional feedback regarding the windows, screens, furniture, vacuum, and deck for review with the appropriate parties. We encourage all guests to contact Mountain Vacation Lodging promptly during their stay whenever they encounter a maintenance or housekeeping concern. Andrew arrived late and reported a lack of heat. The boiler had shut down due to a fault. When reset (by Andrew), the fault was overridden and heat was restored, but this caused a pipe to leak (not burst), and the water did not present itself until after everyone went to sleep. After awaking to wet floors on the lower level, a plumber was immediate dispatched and isolated the leaky pipe immediately. The isolation of the leaky pipe caused a lack of heat only in the living room, which has a large wood burning fireplace. The lower level floors were dried out. As Andrew as noted, we were responsive and resolved issues as quickly as possible. The boiler system is not old, but was inspected before the winter season began and was found to be in good condition. The issue was not something that could have been predicted, but it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The ski in ski out is illustrated in the photo gallery. Intermediate to experts can ski in literally right onto the back deck and ski out via a short set of steps up then traverse sideways through the trees. Fortunately for beginner to intermediate skiers, or early / late ski season visitors, and as Andrew has noted, the location and short walk between the home and the Gondola quite the positive feature.
