Step back in time with this quiet beachfront getaway in undeveloped South Ponte Vedra Beach. The SeaTurtle Retreat House is a classic Florida a-frame with a nautical-themed open layout and ample room for up to seven guests. Two downstairs bedrooms (one with a queen bed, two twins in the other) sleep up to four guests. The ship-like ambiance includes portholes and skylights for natural lighting. The light and bright upstairs primary bedroom offer ocean views, vaulted ceilings, and a private main bath.

Sip coffee at sunrise on the patio and watch for dancing dolphins, diving pelicans, and even hatching sea turtles. Savor peace and quiet as you stroll along the unspoiled cinnamon sand beach. Spend the day surfing, fishing, sailing or simply unwinding with a great book. Relax and enjoy the rich colors of the evening in the spacious and comfortable living area with floor-to-ceiling windows. Even the kitchen has a clear view of the waves. You'll be minutes from award-winning oceanfront dining, with a spacious open-layout interior and high vaulted ceilings. This home is also adjacent to Guana River State Park. SeaTurtle Retreat is located in the relatively undeveloped Old Florida community of South Ponte Vedra just north of Vilano Beach. St. Augustine and the world-class Sawgrass Golf Resort are just 20 minutes away. Other nearby attractions include Marineland, Castillo de San Marcos, and World Golf Village.

Basic supplies were good. Place was neat and clan. Kitchen light switch needs work. Deck needs tlc. First floor register needs replaced. Vision onto the highway NEEDS to be enhanced.

The property definitely needs some updating, but overall it was great! The location and private beach access, made it all worth it!

This house has a beautiful location but needs a major renovation. Nearly nothing works or is the very cheapest version of furniture, appliance, etc. The couch was so dirty that we felt uncomfortable sitting on it. The kitchen light only sometimes turned on after hours and when we called the management company to fix it they sent someone to fix it who said we can't fix it without the owner's permission - and then we never heard anything back from them and the kitchen light was never fixed.

Great stay, needs a little love

Great stay with beautiful views. Not the best place for kids 2 and under due to stairs, and unsecured porch (kids can crawl under the bench and fall), but we had two kids under the age of two was not a non issue with good supervision. I would stay here again.

The house is in need of a lot of upgrades. They were dead bugs in the floor. The landscaping was so overgrown you could not see to get out of the driveway and was a safety issue. There must be zero insulation in the house because you can hear every single car that goes up and down the road.

A+ Beach

Yes, we read the reviews! Our expectations were at a moderate level. The house is in need of ALOT of help! I could spend a while picking it apart, but despite all the things that I saw and experienced that I would have to change if it were mine….We loved it! The view of beach, the sound of the waves crashing, the shells, sea glass and sharks teeth were exactly what we wanted and needed! If we ever decide to visit that area again, we’d gladly stay there again. Book it and enjoy!

I would never recommend this poorly maintained property to anyone. First day overhead light not working in dark kitchen. Owner left a lamp & small round push on lights used in closets on the front door deck. Apparently the ceiling light was not fixable. Same day handle came out of the wall in the shower & water gushed out with firehose force. My friend rammed the faucet back into the shower wall. I didn’t have the strength to make that happen. This was an emergency. A plumber came the next day. I can’t remember it was traumatizing. Secondly when showering upstairs water seemed to be running down behind the walls heard in the downstairs bathroom. The deck was weather worn, not maintained & I didn’t trust sitting for fear of splinters or collapse. Outdoor beach shower was replaced but when used 2 days later the glued joint came out of the connecting sleeve. So not functional. We put bedspreads over the couch which was worn & dirty. I would like to request compensation as the price for such property was a total rip-off. Disappointed, angry, embarrassed & traumatized. Depressing experience for a 7 yr reunion with my best friend from San Francisco SincerelyJulia Howell

Great view

For the money I can’t complain too much. The freezer has no ice maker but several ice trays and an ice bucket. The house is very close to the road so you get a lot of traffic noise all day and night so bring ear plugs. Adequate pots and pans to cook with as well as dishes. The pillows on the beds are quite thin so you may want to bring your own. Adequate towels for the two of us. The couch is quite disgusting and should have a cover on it that could be washed.

Cute as a button but…..

Cute as a button and loved the location and coastal motif but there are many safety things that need to be addressed. No outside working lights on Oceanside, decking in poor/dangerous condition, water abnormally hot/scalding. Only one lightbulb working in first bedroom, only two in master bedroom, master toilet has to be pumped after each flush - even itine. We did appreciate having sheets, towels, toilet paper, and starter cleaning products. Overall nice, just wish we could have enjoyed the Oceanside deck. PS: those steps need major attention too.

Lots of Potential, but Lots of Problems

This is my first negative review on VRBO. Woo hoo! The good news is that the back deck is a stone's throw to the Atlantic. The bad news is that the house is poorly maintained and the property manager (Vacasa) was unable or unwilling to address the issues we encountered. A quick breakdown: - the oven never worked - we notified Vacasa on day one and they sent out two repairmen but ultimately never resolved it and never offered a discount our assistance in any way - the refrigerator kept throwing a breaker - we eventually got it working by not using some of the lights -one of the deck chairs was broken and unusable - we requested another several times and never heard from vacasa -contacted vacasa about a broken step but they never addressed it -asked vacasa to relocate us due to the numerous issues but they refused -i really cannot overstate how poorly Vacasa's customer service was - we reached out many times in the first few days and they did next to nothing other than send auto responses swearing our stay was their highest priority...lol In addition, the overall comfort of the beds, the lack of cleanliness and musty, pet smells, etc. made this potentially charming house a bit of a dud. Vacasa's awful customer service made it worse. I would strongly advise not renting from Vacasa properties if possible. So, if you are looking for a cheap, dumpy beach house, it was just that. Honestly, it's a shame because the location is quite magical, but I'll pay extra to avoid Vacasa and to get the basic amenities described in the property posting.

When we arrived there were dead bugs all over the floor. We found a live roach in the kitchen. The bed upstairs was so hard that we couldn't sleep and I kept waking up through the night with my entire body hurting. I like a firm bed, but can't imagine asking a guest to sleep on one that hard. My daughter ended up sleeping with us because her bed was also extremely hard (it felt like a box spring with no mattress). The air filter looks like it hasn't been changed in years. The house is outdated (which is fine), but I wasn't expecting everything to be so dirty. There was no ice maker. The house would be very cute with major updating and the view of the ocean was beautiful. I would not stay here again.

Outside front railing loose, bathroom had no toilet paper, floor dirty, refrigerator rusty and the temperature control knob was not working properly so everything was freezing. pans in the oven drawer were greasy, Oven was dirty, kitchen coffee cups were not cleaned, had stains in them. The inspection certification was expired and for another address all together. Living room: curtain rod was rusty and held up by a rope, vent behind couch and before the steps was disgustingly filthy. Extension cord going from the bottom floor to the top floor landing connected to an appliance. Railing from bottom floor to the top floor was loose. The blinds and ceiling at the top floor landing had black mold on it, Unit desperately needs upgrading. plants and bushes on lot needs landscaping, very challenging to come out of the lot onto the road. Stairs going up to the front door is rotted and very loose, defiantly a safety hazard for older adults who needs to use the railings to go up the stairs. It was a lot of money for a place that was in such poor condition, We have pictures of proof. I am requesting a refund for some of the expense. If I had known this place was in this condition I never would have rented it.

For the most part, it was a pleasant stay. There was an issue with the kitchen light not working, however, they sent someone to replace the fixture. I would suggest placing rounded mirrors at the end of the driveway, as you can't really see when traffic is coming,(and they drive at high speeds). We found a lot of nice shells. Seen quite a few dolphins and a bunch of pelicans. They should name that stretch of beach, "pelican alley". We had daily visits from the geckos while we were sitting on the deck. The couch could use a good steam cleaning, but it was comfy (we used blankets to cover it). All in all, it could use some updates, but the view and serenity of the ocean was well worth it.
