Blue Bayou: Canalfront, 2 screened porches - near beach

New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

This adorable single-story home will become one of your favorite Hatteras Island getaway spots. Canal front but tucked away behind the Koru campus, you can enjoy all the perks of the island while still feeling a bit remote. Just across the highway, you will find public access to the Avon pier and miles of beach. Also within walking distance and a short drive are several restaurants, shops, and additional amenities the village has to offer. Drive further and explore all the wonderful villages of the island and beyond, such as Ocracoke and the aquarium in Manteo, just to name a few.

Inside the home, you will find two lovely screened porches for your convenience and comfort. You will enjoy sipping your morning coffee or evening cocktail in a mosquito-free environment. There is also a dining set on the front porch for those al fresco meals. Everything you need is provided in the fully equipped kitchen, including a dining table. Gather around the living room and play games or watch a favorite movie. Outside you will find plenty of space for fun and games, a fish-cleaning table, and an outdoor shower to help keep your bed sheets sand-free. Sleeping options include three comfortable bedrooms with new mattresses for the 2024 season and additional conveniences like TVs and ceiling fans.

Please Note: As a barrier island, Hatteras is constantly changing. Beach conditions, dunes, and access points may vary due to erosion, restoration projects, weather, and other environmental factors.

Great location with minimal stairs out front.

We chose this property because there were only 8 steps up from the vehicle and my husband just can’t do lots of stairs. Plus it was just one floor and it was just the two of us. Beds were very comfortable.

Great stay at Blue Bayou

My family and I had a great stay at the Blue Bayou. The house was located in peaceful neighborhood, located, near restaurants and walking distance to the Avon Pier. The house was clean, and it had a fully stocked kitchen, with everything we needed. Nice A/C, spacious, and it also provided towels and bed linens. All in all, we had a nice stay, and I would book the Blue Bayou again.

Great house!

This was the perfect little house for us. Very clean, everything is modern and up to date. Completely private next to the cove. We loved everything being on one floor and not having a ton of stairs. We will definitely be back

Great Place

We loved the layout of the house and the location! It is within walking distance to the pier and local eaterys. The only issue we had was the comfort of the queen and full size mattresses. They were extremely firm and uncomfortable. We'd love to stay here again but would need to know that the mattresses were changed before that happened.

Quiet and Peaceful!

This home was so spacious and clean! Right on the canal, we were able to catch our own bait to go fishing with! The house has everything you need. Made life so easy! The dish detergent and laundry detergent was so helpful as we forgot to bring that stuff. We will certainly be back.. very soon!

Overall good, but some items weren't cleaned. Cudhions from porch and place mats. Some provided kitchen items werent in usable condition.

Great house on a quiet street

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue Bayou. The location is perfect as we choose to drive out on the beach instead of walking. There are several beach ramps and sound access ramps to drive out on. The house was centrally located to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend trying The Froggy Dog. The house itself is much larger inside than it looks from the outside. The screened in porches were fabulous and the outdoor shower was great for washing sand off of my 5 year old. He also enjoyed watching the minnows in the canal. Overall it was a great stay!

Fishing trip

Nice little place at the end of the street, rented the place for a fishing trip. Got some live bait out from the canal so we didn't have to buy any. The only downside to the trip was having a realtor show up with a working code to the door lock while we were away. We got back before she could try her code and she said she wasn't informed that the place was rented for the wee. We enjoyed our stay besides having that realtor show up.

Nice house, no internet

Greatbhouse and location, very clean. No internet upon check in. I had to troubleshoot the issue for an hour. Called customer service and they made me repeat the same troubleshooting to verify. 3 days later, with constant calls each day finally had internet so we could watch tv at night, and use our laptops for work with 2 days left of our trip.

Quiet,Quaint, and Cozy

This home was perfect for our little family getaway in Avon. Located at the end of a small side street. Highly recommend Tavern on12 and The Froggy Dog for food. Home is far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to run up to for more shopping and sight seeing. The home is well equipped in the kitchen. Bedrooms are spacious with comfy beds. The bunk bed was a little hard for my kiddo as the ladder is metal and rounded step rungs which hurt their feet climbing up (it's an older bed) but overall worked well. King and Queen in the other bedrooms with comfy beds (bring extra pillows) The home was overall clean ( other than the couple of roaches in the kitchen which I hear is common at the coast and cigarette butts on the front steps) TV's with streaming services that you will have to log into, we stayed busy so only turned the TV on once. Washer and dryer did not work properly. There were instructions to hold the broken door latch closed while you started it so that it would function properly, however, the spin cycle did not work at all. Very thankful it was just one hoodie I threw in to attempt to keep a stain from setting. Had to ring it out by hand and attempt to dry it in the dryer, which was also struggling. We asked for early check in but not allowed. There is plenty to do while you wait though, even in the off season. We would stay here again as the price is affordable and the space suites our family.
