Enjoy an Acadian getaway on beautiful, Mt. Desert Island at Avigayil cottage! Minutes from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, this four-bedroom home boasts waterfront views of Kitteredge Brook inlet. Well-furnished for indoor and outdoor living, features include a brookside, wood-burning firepit, lounge deck, and patio equipped for al fresco with a gas grill and table seating.

Enjoy a variety of wildlife viewing right from your own backyard with eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and crabs all common visitors. High tide may also bring the occasional seal-sighting! The bright, updated interior is rich with contemporary comfort and plenty of space to spread out in comfort.

On the main floor, enjoy time together with a spacious, semi-open layout. The front family room welcomes conversation and group gatherings with a cozy sofa and futon. The full kitchen comes equipped with all major appliances, including a new dishwasher, a cupboard pantry, and a farmhouse sink - ready to handle family-style meals with ease. the adjacent dining area offers table seating for eight. Upstairs entertainment awaits in the game and living area. Challenge your guests to a few rounds of Ping-Pong or settle in for a movie on the flatscreen smart TV. A convenient kitchenette comes equipped with bar seating, a mid-size fridge, electric kettle, and water cooler.

Make the most of blue sky days with a backyard barbecue out on the patio or just head out to the deck to bask in the sun when it peeks its head out. As the sun starts to set, make your way down to the firepit for waterfront happy hour.

We had an amazing family vacation here. The house is huge, comfortable, and well-stocked with all the essentials. With plenty of bathrooms and extra bedrooms, everyone had their own space. The highlights of our trip were taking the kayaks out and roasting marshmallows by the firepit. It is in a perfect location for an easy drive into Bar Harbor and Acadia, plus Mother's Kitchen is just down the road and was great for breakfast and lunch. Even when we ran into a minor issue with a beehive on the porch, the host was incredibly responsive and took care of it right away. We would absolutely stay here again.

This is a great house for a large family. The back yard and deck are wonderful! Access to the quiet side of MDI is so easy and nice, and access to the busier side is 10-15 minutes away when that's what you're looking for. Host is very responsive and helpful!

Overall, this was a great place to stay, with lots of space, clean rooms, great central location on Desert Island, and easy check in. Our big complaint was there were dirty dishes put away, and some basic neglected property maintenance, including water filter on refrigerator needing to be changed, a very old and broken Adirondack chair in the back and a few other minor things. This property appears to be run by a larger agency and lacks some of that extra personal attention you often can find in other properties. I did send all this feedback to them directly and they apologized and said would address. Be good to see people who rent this after us if they see the changes or not. With extra personal attention it certainly can be 5 stars, but otherwise if this is how the property is going to be managed, then it should come at a lower price in my opinion.

Ideal location

This location was a perfect location. Only 10 minutes to Visitor center or Cadillac Mountain or a short drive into Bar Harbor. The property had plenty of entertainment options for our group. We loved the great room and the openness of the downstairs made meal time a great family event.

Comfortable stay for our large group

Overall really pleasant stay. We loved the fireplace tucked into the woods and the ping pong table. The house and rooms are really large, but they could benefit from adding multiple beds in some of the rooms so people don’t have to sleep on couches, and minor easy updates to decor throughout the house would make this property stand out. Really good proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Great location- centrally located on Mount Desert Island. Enough room for 10. Great fire pit, kayaks and forest behind house. The hot tub was not working.

bar harbor

property was nice and quirky but was not ready when we showed up an hour past check in time. other than that, the back yard is beautiful. lots of room and activities.

Family time in a great spot

We loved the spacious home since there were nine of us. Well stocked kitchen except for lack of dishwasher. We used all the amenities-- kayaks, hot tub, ping pong, fire pit, grill and had a a great time together. Lovely property by the river.

Acadia gem

This house is great for families including multigenerational families. We loved the tire swing, fire pit and hot tub. Having the high chair and pack and play was a nice surprise. Maybe you could add it to the home’s amenities so future families don’t have to rent them like we did. Great location to access the park and for excellent restaurants in bar harbor.

Nice proximity to attractions.

The house was relatively clean and the two service issues were addressed quickly. The house is right on the Main Street, so was very noisy with lots of traffic going by. We couldn’t use fire pit or hot tub because there were too many mosquitos.

Great for multi-family trips

We stayed with 2 families and 4 kids under 5yrs old. We all had enough space, enough bathrooms and loved the perks like the bunk beds, tire swing, hot tub and fire pit near the water. If I had to change only one thing, I would’ve loved to have had air conditioning in the bedrooms or in the common area near the kitchen. It was only 15 mins from lots of Acadia attractions and from downtown Bar Harbor. We would definitely come back!
