The open-concept layout keeps everyone in the same orbit, with the kitchen, dining area, and living room flowing together so no one gets stranded in another room. The full kitchen handles it all, from a fast breakfast before the lifts to a proper group dinner, and the dining table seats six for the kind of long, unhurried meals these trips are made for. A dedicated laundry room means you can pack light and stay a little longer.

Outside is where Bear's Lair really comes alive. Decks wrap the cabin on multiple sides, giving everyone room to fan out — an outdoor dining setup for meals beneath the trees, lounge seating for that first cup of coffee, and a front-row view of the pink-and-gold Sierra sunsets people travel for.

As for getting around, you're close to nearly everything that makes the area worth the trip. Northstar California is just minutes away for skiing, snowboarding, and summer mountain biking, while the galleries, shops, and railroad-era charm of Historic Downtown Truckee are a short drive off. Donner Lake's beaches and famously clear water are near enough for a spontaneous afternoon, and the north shore of Lake Tahoe — along with the storied terrain at Palisades Tahoe — sits an easy, scenic drive south. Powder season or peak summer, this is a true four-season basecamp.

Home Truths:
- Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in this home. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval, there is a fine of $500 per pet.
- The Northstar community has communal dumpsters.
- Near The Rec Center, offers a full gym, multiple pools and hot tubs, tennis and pickleball courts, and kid-friendly programming.
- Just three doors down is an access point to the TMT trail network that stretches 26 miles through Northstar and Martis Valley.

Parking Details:
- The property offers 2 parking spaces. Garage access is not available to guests.

This is a smoke-free property. Violation of the no-smoking policy will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, a $300 smoking fee, and liability for any fire or property damage costs.

As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation.

Events or parties are not allowed without prior written approval and an additional fee. Any unauthorized parties or events will be shut down and a fine will be assessed. Please inquire for more information about our event policies and fees.

There is nothing more important to us at AvantStay than the health, safety, and experience of our guests & staff. We've enhanced our cleaning and sanitation protocols and are taking extra care to disinfect all surfaces between reservations with hospital-grade disinfecting solutions.

As a reminder, we do work with 3rd party vendors to maintain the property, and although we adhere to the strictest CDC guidelines and advise all contractors to wear PPE equipment, we can not always enforce. We strongly advise guests to please deny access if any vendors fail to meet and adhere to these standards.
