Wonderful house so close to kepuhi beach! Small but spacious, with comfortable Queen bed and plenty of dishes, pots and pans, cooking tools, and small appliances. Lovely decor and lots of puzzles, plus some games. Beach chairs were a huge plus! Charcoal grill worked well, and there was even some charcoal here to use. Layout is a little funny, with the twin room being on the other side of a big, open bathroom that also houses the laundry facilities, but there were only 2 of us and we didn't use that bedroom. Could have been awkward if traveling with more guests. This has been one of our favorite lodgings on the north shore, and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again!

Always Beyond expectations

The location is just fantastic and Kauai Vacation Rentals is extremely responsive to whatever needs you have. We have been staying here since 2010 can't imagine staying anywhere else.

The Beach is right out front

Great location and house

We really enjoyed our stay. the house was much nicer than the photos, a pleasant surprise. It was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. it was light, bright, and comfortable. we love being able to walk to Tunnels. the rental company was very responsive and helpful.

Classic Kauai Gem

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Classic Kauai home, beachfront with spectacular Mountain View’s behind it of Bali hai mountains. Expect the Northshore to be windy with some intermittent rain. The beach out front has a rocky reef shelf sheltering it from the big outside reef waves, making for good, though more experienced, snorkeling. To swim you can walk towards the beach colony for more sand and a safer entry. The house was clean, well stocked, quiet, and classically furnished. It’s hard to find a midcentury classic house on the beach these days and we loved it! Don’t expect contemporary luxury but something more authentic and special and you’ll be happy.

Great place to relax

Reviewer Comments: We are two seniors, and this is a great place to go and just relax in a area that is close enough to town for convenience, but far enough to be quiet and away from things. General condition was knocked down one star because the bathroom sink needed some maintenance. I had to reach under the sink to operate the drain stopper in the main bathroom. Initially electrical outlets in the bathrooms did not work, but few days later we found a circuit breaker turned off. Cleanliness was knocked down two stars because my wife was not impressed with the overall cleanliness of the place, particularly the cleanliness of the bathtub. However, we would not hesitate to rent it again.

On the most beautiful beach

The listing pictures do not do this house justice. The beach beyond the house is right off the yard— you can watch sunsets looking west along the coast and walk to tunnels (30 min) along the beach. The neighborhood is quiet, beautiful, and friendly. The house was incredibly well stocked (more so than any other Vrbo we’ve used), including beach chairs and a cooler. If I had to say anything negative it would be the lack of a full wall on the master and the 2nd bedroom was a little snug for our 11 and 13 year olds, but the listing pics are accurate. Thanks for an incredible stay!

It is now a regular part of our annual rhythm.... a place of peace, beauty, refreshment. The amenities are complete but simple...which is just how we would want them. Every morning at dawn, I take my cup of coffee to the beach and watch the sunrise. Almost every late afternoon, we walk west along the beach for the sunset. What can we say except that we have no desire to stay anywhere else!

They really showed the integrity and competence of their organization through this pandemic when flexibility was so important. Now on to Waiohonu... honestly, for what my wife and I want in this time of restoration and refreshment where we want the sea...we want mountains... we want privacy and simplicity with all the comforts... this place is perfect... this must be our tenth time here. The only reason we would stay anywhere else is because we had to. It is the perfect spot on the most beautiful island.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked this property on a whim because it was one of the only available on the North shore for spring break. There weren’t many photos, or a ton of reviews, but we decided to just go for it choosing location over being in love with the property (or even super confident in it). We ended up loving everything about our stay. The house is adequate, but not fancy. Perfect for getting a real island vibe and not a touristy/resort experience. We LOVED leaving the louvered windows open at night to hear the waves, and waking up to the birds in the morning. The views of the ocean and palms out front, and the lush mountains behind the property are great as well. This is our 4th trip to Kauai and by far our favorite stay!

OK, but a hotel would probably be a better value for price

The location is great. Until you realize this property description doesn't mention another rental property 25 feet away on the same lot that looks directly into your living area with no privacy wall or dilineation. In fact, property host goes so far as to manipulate the photographs to hide the property. Very Deceitful. Incredible that no other review exposes this fact. Found the property neglected (landscaping, dirty outdoor grilling equipment, cracked porcelain sinks, dangerous shower plate glass door, non-working entertainment gear, motion alert alarm present but nonfunctional), and when I did communicate with management they expected me to know the nickname of the house although I gave them the exact address and my name. They offered no resolution. Not very aloha, nor professional. The adjacent property not shown had a family of 5 staying with 3 screaming toddlers that got us up every morning at 5:30 a.m.. To add injury to insult we had a theft at the property while we were present. Found old barbequed meat in the Weber kettle outside. The gas BBQ was nauseatingly dirty and way past its prime. Do your homework people.

The Road to High Adventure

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have vacationed on the North Shore Kauai since the mid 1970's. Waiohonu was a perfect location for our stay. We enjoyed privacy, comfort, walks on the beach, and beautiful sunsets during our stay. We enjoyed cooking meals in the well equipped kitchen or going out to many of the local restaurants. The customer service was outstanding. I receive a phone message from the management alerting me to an upcoming temporary power outage early the next morning due to electrical company maintenance for our general area.My son and his friend went on a hike to Kalalau for a few days. The trail is less than a mile from the house. My wife and I went ocean fishing and caught dinner for quite a few days. Hanalei is flush with Hawaiian culture and food. The Tahiti Nui, Kalypso, and The Hanalei Dolphin were our favorites. In the past visits we drove to the south side of the island, but we did not want to spend that much time away from this beautiful property. We frequented the restaurant Opakapka that is walking distance from the house. Very good food including fresh fish. At the end of the day we looked forward to sitting on the beach in front and watching some of the most beautiful sunsets.
