Marvelous Mackinaw

The view from the house was beautiful. We didn’t have the best weather, but it didn’t matter. Every day was great!

WONDERFUL stay! The location provided easy access to all the places we wanted to go in Northern Michigan and the UP. The house was clean and beds were comfortable and we felt right at home. STUNNING views and just steps to the beach. The hosts were incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming. 1000% would stay again.

Perfect lake side cottage!

We absolutely loved our time at the cottage. Beautiful views of the water and a lovely beach. I spent much of my time reading in the deck; which was the perfect place to hang out. Kids loved the kayaks. Very quick drive to Mackinaw City. And visits from Ellie were the best!!

Knotty pine cottage on the lake

Our stay was amazing..the location is everything! Sue and Gary are so kind and full of knowledge on local places as well as travels to Mackinac Island. The cottage was equipped with all the necessities and outside of an unusual bathroom set up..it was perfect.

Great beach!

Loved our few days on the beach! Gary and Sue were so helpful and the house was comfortable and cozy. It was a perfect time to read, walk the almost deserted beach, and enjoy the calling loons.

Another wonderful stay!

This was our second stay. We enjoyed it so much we booked another stay in 2024 as soon as we got home. The cottage is cozy and warm and the view of the Straits from the cottage is stunning. Sue and Gary are wonderful hosts. Can’t wait to go back!

This lil knotty pine cottage is magic!

It truly is magic! The view of Trail’s End Bay from the cottage and the beach right outside keeps us coming back. The sunrises and sunsets are glorious and the cottage is cozy. The night sky is full of stars. And Susan, the owner of the property, is a delight to work with. We love hiking at Headlands and Wilderness State Park. Can’t wait to return!

Mackinaw

We had a fabulous stay. The host of the property has a plethora of information to share with her guests. Which makes it l easy to tour and see things in and around Mackinaw. The house is a great location on Michigan Lake with sunsets that are absolutely stunning. We would definitely recommend this cottage to our family and friends. Thank you, Susan and Gary for helping to make our stay so memorable.

Beautiful setting, gorgeous sunsets, peaceful, natural environment

The cottage was just as charming as we had imagined -- away from the crowds, yet close to everything: dining, shopping, ferry to Mackinaw Island, parks (Dark Sky), and airport at Pellston! It was clean, cute and had everything we needed for a wonderful week's stay. Sue & Gary were perfect hosts. The list of places Sue suggested we visit did not disappoint! We hated to leave!!

Cottage retreat

Nice and Quiet

The cottage was very clean with everything we needed. The private beach was clean with lots of room for little kids to play. This was the perfect spot for a family with small children. The mosquitos were rough in the front of the house outside, but the beach area was big free. We will likely be back.

Peaceful retreat

Gary and Sue are wonderful hosts offering a lovely cottage. It had everything we needed including comfortable beds and sharp knives! For those of us who like to cook, sharp knives were a bonus! The area is peaceful and the beach is perfect. There are great places to take walks, ride bikes and to just relax and read. It’s a great place for all ages and we look forward to our next visit! Thank you Gary and Sue!

Peaceful and relaxing stay.

Wonderful communication with owner. Everything as advertised. Great location to beach with a short easy walk to it. Beach was beautiful and relaxing. Kayaks and bikes for you to use. Cutest cottage with beautiful porch! We had us, our two grown children, and our little Westin dog and had plenty of room. Very dog friendly and thoughtful of your pet. Certainly recommend!

35 anniversary

Charming little updated cabin with a fantastic view. This was a color tour and it was prime. We went on day trips on the iffy days and read books and played cribbage and studied my chess and took beach walks. Watched swans, plovers and pipers. Saw Taylor Swift at the movie theatre and ate a lot of good food. Saw an awe inspiring rainbow in the mist over a brilliant turquoise sunlit bay!

Awesome week on Lake Michigan!

Gary & Sue are gracious host!! They’re very nice, very friendly, answered questions about hiking trails. Cottage is as good as advertised! The master bedroom, lay in the bed hear the waves. The dog loved it as well, he laid on the bed just stared out at the lake. The outdoor porch is beautiful, you can just sit and relax, watch the beautiful sunsets. If you’re bringing your dog lots of trails at Headland sky park & Wilderness State park plus a nice one behind the cottage. Or just walk up & down the beach! If you’re looking for ESPN or live sporting events, ABC, NBC, CBS couldn’t get it. Lots of streaming services. But you’re on vacation, who needs to watch a lot of TV, right?

Charming Cottage

My family really enjoyed our stay at this charming cottage. The owners, who live next door, were helpful, accommodating, and friendly. The location was great, with a beautiful spot right on the lake overlooking the dark sky park to the north and Wilderness State Park to the south. Not far from town at all so it was convenient to go in to town for a meal or a little shopping. Plenty to do in Mackinaw City or Mackinac Island or if you venture out within a couple of hours. One day we went into the UP to Tahquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point. My favorite thing to do was sit on the sofa looking through the wall of windows at the sunset and the big ships going by way out on the lake. Just about everything you could need right at the cabin but if you're the type of person that needs luxury and everything to be brand new you'd be better off staying at a resort in town. The cottage and and most of what's inside it is older and it's tucked back in the woods outside of town. That's what gives it it's charm, though, in my opinion. Really enjoyed it and would love to come back sometime!

This cottage was built by the owner’s parents. We have built a new cottage next door and will be on-site for additional assistance. This is a very quiet, sandy, and private beach. It is part of the Trails End Bay Property Association. Owners are outdoor folks that can direct or lead you on hikes (trails across the street) or kayak trips. It is close to town and the dark sky park.

Good morning. Please be aware that there is a glitch in Google maps (I definitely can't fix). The address is 6659. It show 6659 on VRBO and google maps but when you click on it, it spits out a different address. So write it down please.

Beautiful natural surroundings, with amazing sandy beach and numerous outdoor and other activities. See Mackinac Island on a day trip and come back knowing you have a much nicer beach and place to lay your head. Great restaurants. Dark Sky Park around the corner.
