House needs some upgrades

House does not have a beach view. The mattresses need replacing because they are broken down and lumpy, especially first floor. Only 2 TV’s worked at a time with the very basic channels; there is no ESPN or sports channels. Air conditioning does not cool 3rd floor. Unit had wet towels in dryer; floors were not properly cleaned. Pool are needed cleaning and do not look like picture. White fencing needed cleaning because it has huge rust stains from an improperly functioning sprinkler system. Waterfall in pool only worked occasionally.

Great Property nicely furnished for the money

We had 13 for Thanksgiving and the house was a perfect layout for our group. Beautiful pool, if it would have been heated we would have enjoyed it more. Loved the new 6 seater golf cart, and the use of the bikes. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped for our Thanksgiving meal. Loved the location and would consider renting again. The management company was very easy to work with as well.

Awesome place!

There were 14 of us staying here. Everything was as pictured. The rooms were spacious and beds comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The pool was absolutely the best! We had a couple of maintenance issues but the management staff was on top of it! Area is pricey though. Reservations needed for most places. All in all a great trip!

Beautiful property with a fabulous pool and great floor plan for multiple families.

The golf cart and bikes make it easy to get everywhere. The location has great access to both Destin and PCB for days when you want to amp up the action. Only minor repair items. We would definitely return. The kids were just crazy for the pool !

Great house, great location

Great house that had plenty of space for our group. The one thing is that there is an alarm on all doors that face the pool. There is no mention of this in the listing or in the communication we received once we booked the house. We weren’t instructed on how to use it so the alarm was going off. We had to use trial and error to figure out how it worked. Then the alarm on the 3rd floor door malfunctioned and it would not shut off. We called the property group but had some difficulty getting support. We attributed this to being Easter Sunday. We had to physically disable the alarm ourselves. Otherwise, it’s a nice, big house in a great location in Blue Mountain beach. Walkable to the beach and places to eat. It’s super close to the bike path so you can ride all the way to Miramar or Seaside beach.

Family vacation

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this house. There were things that were listed as available that weren't. These included a few beach items such as chairs, umbrella. The pool, fence and overall landscaping need some TLC. A pool skimmer would be handy for the leaves, pine needles. Some additional lounge chairs for the number of guests would have been nice. There weren't any side tables for drinks etc.. The large pool & seating & shallow areas were great. There weren't any family games etc. & these are a plus with families. Storage in the bathrooms was very poor. No drawers or place to put towels. Main family room could use a larger TV. Need a dining room table with seating to accomodate the large family that is staying in this large house. No extra blankets or throws anywhere. Downstairs mattress & pillows stained & dirty. The beach access was good but disappointing that so much of the beach was taken up by private rentals. This definitely made it more difficult for older adults & families with young children. The weather was perfect & our family had a great time. The white sand & blue water is the best.

Absolute disgrace

My family and I were under a mandatory evacuation order due to hurricane Milton. Upon arrival the house was very warm and filthy. There were multiple stains on every piece of furniture, every air vent was disgusting, the linens and bath towels had a musty smell, the pool had debris in it and the pump was making a loud noise due to the water level of the pool being too low. It was pretty evident the house had not been occupied or cleaned in quite some time. No internet available, even with us explaining we had 3 adults expecting to be working remotely. Not only was the house disgusting but there were multiple safety concerns. A 2x4 piece of wood was placed in the sliding glass door track as the way to secure the door. Southern’s solution was to place a “j hook” lock but a contractor never arrived to install. Balconies/porches and stairs do not have a gate as well as poisonous toads in the backyard and pool filter. They told us all of our concerns would be addressed within 24 hours. The only concern addressed in a timely manner was the AC. A one room/one night stay in a hotel with 7 adults, 7 children and pets at 9:30pm the first night was offered. They could not relocate us until a property manager went to the property. The property manager and maintenance staff arrived the next morning and agreed the house was unsafe and unfit for renting and would be actively looking for another property. However, the manager, Christopher (Destin office) declined us to relocate.

Fall Break

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was perfect for our family. Had a few small issues but they were handled very quickly. We have small children and the walk to the beach is a little hard with them but that is the only thing negative I can say. It was a very short walk but still tough for little ones.

Extremely disappointing

Worst vacation rental ever. First getting the call that our original house would not be available hours before arrival started the trip off. We were relocated to a unit that did not meet our needs. It was a five bedroom instead of a 6, units did not connect from interior. We had outlet elderly parents with us and it was a logistic nightmare. The pool was tiny with no shade for our parents. When we booked our stay we specifically looked for certain things in a unit. Number of bedrooms, bathrooms, layout, pool, and making sure we had a nice space for our parents. This house did not meet any of our needs. It was beyond disappointing. The property you relocated us to was not equipped for cooking. It is poorly stocked. There were many hazardous conditions 1. Posts cut down and left high enough in the walk way for a trip hazard. My mom fell several times. 2. The bricks on the back patio are raised and extremely uneven my father fell and busted his knee open. 3. In the basement the light fixture/fan was on and the light housing unit FELL on top of one of us, thank god it did not hit her in the head. ( it did not break, it is placed in living room for reinstatement evidently the screws were loose) To say we were extremely disappointed in this vacation is an understatement. We only take one vacation a year and save in order to do so. I will wait for your response, I feel we should be refunded. Gorrell adventure.

Pool was great. Pool light did not work. Gas grill was taken apart when we got there and dirty. New grill arrived on Wed. Half way through our stay. When the old grill was taken away they took my grilling tongs from home. Windows in master suite upstairs left open with no screen. Room full of bugs and spiders. Golf cart did not work which is why chose this property. Had to rent one which did not arrive until Tuesday. Hard water turned our whites yellow Need a water softener. Overall a nice property. Needs some updates. The access to the beach was great.

Torn, disappointed but could improve with lots of TLC

First off, Southern Rentals was very polite, kind and responsive. Thank you for that. However, they needed to be due to how many issues we had. This property needs some TLC and had a lot of issues w/ broken blinds, broken AC the first two nights (requiring us to stay in the basement 2 nights because it was cooler due to another AC unit down there), lightbulbs out, pool light out, filthy grill, Golf cart badly in need of a tune up, old/rusty toilets, a few stains on carpets, soiled couches and overall was a bit misrepresented on-line. It was dated and needs a thorough overall cleaning. The worst surprise was there is construction going on right behind the property on new condos, that if I had known, would not have rented here. It's tough to enjoy the pool or relax with hammering and saws going all day. The pros? Pool was really great, location really nice; close to restaurants and right down the street from the beach, wonderful glimpse of gulf from top deck, had ample space for big families and had two kitchens. If this property is overhauled and updated, I would come again (sans construction).

Great Beachweek

A few things were broken or not working at the house, but nothing too egregious and within the limits of acceptability for a beach rental. Overall, the house was great. We had everything we needed and the pool was fantastic. Would recommend.

Great Home- definitely would rent again!

We stayed at this beautiful home at the end of June 2020. Check-in was extremely easy and the house & pool were very clean when we arrived. The location was perfect. We used the golf cart to get down to the beach but it was also within walking distance. The house was close to many local shops and places to eat. The view from the top deck was our favorite as we watched the sunset every evening. Overall great experience one thing I think could be a great improvement is the response time of the rental company. I contacted them 4 times trying to get the propane tank filled. They said that someone would be out to fill it but they never showed. We then paid for the fill-up and contacted them again with our receipt. Because it was an automated system I'm not sure anyone was reading our messages. Finally, someone was able to give us a refund. This definitely did not wreck the experience because it wasn't something major wrong, just communication could have been better. Also if your looking to book this property make sure you take out the rental insurance. Two weeks after we rented we found out that Florida was an epicenter for the COVID virus and we were looking to see if we could switch properties or cancel. In their agreement, there are NO REFUNDS whatsoever. So just keep in mind! Overall would definitely rent again, It was a BEAUTIFUL property.

Good Property but some issues

My family and I rented this house for a week. There were eight adults in our party and five children ranging in age from 5 to an infant. The house is very spacious and beautifully appointed. There was plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable and have personal space and sleeping accommodations.The location is good. It is a couple of blocks to the beach but the house has a large golf cart which made getting back and forth to the public access easy. The public access is very nice and the beach is beautiful. The house has a private pool which is wonderful. It is one of the nicest pools we have ever had in a rental house.There is plenty of shallow area for the younger children and they had a wonderful time in the pool. It is well maintained and was serviced during the week we were there. There is also a very nice grilling area right by the pool with a great grill which we used several times. The kitchen is sparsely furnished. I was glad that I brought my own electric grill and 12 quart pot. All in all, I have to say that this was a good property for us to rent and to be comfortable in for a week. Having said that, there were a few issues that keep me from rating it as excellent.The personnel at the property management office were very pleasant but there were some issues with the house which either did not get resolved or took several days to resolve. There are seven tvs in the house but most of them either did not work or would not work if another tv was turned on. Someone from property management came out twice but could never get the tvs working properly. The tv in the main living area never worked.Another issue was with the dishwasher.Tuesday morning when I went to unload the dishwasher, it was full of water and was not draining. We immediately called property manager and someone came out Tuesday afternoon but could not repair the dishwasher and said they would have to call an appliance repairman. We called again Wednesday and Thursday. it was finally repaired late Thursday afternoon. With that many people and baby bottles etc. you can imagine that we use a dishwasher frequently. As it was, we ended up doing a lot of dishes by hand.When we checked in there were ashtrays filled with cigarette butts and empty beer cans all over the two outside decks. My husband and I own a property which we rent through VRBO and if we have problems that can't be solved immediately we always make sure that our renters receive some type of refund. Not so here.
