And yes — that view! I have known it for years and I still never get tired of it. Waking up in the morning with the shutters open and seeing the lake from bed is one of my favorite things about the house, and I love your description of the lights across the lake at night looking like Christmas. You captured exactly what makes that little balcony so special. I’m also so happy that you enjoyed Brienno and exploring the lake. One of the things I love most about staying there is that you can spend the day visiting all the beautiful towns around Lake Como, have dinner by the water, and then come back to the quiet of the village and your own little corner of the lake. And your idea of the perfect afternoon — sitting on the balcony for hours with wine, cheese, bread and a book — sounds absolutely perfect to me too. Brienno is a tiny historic village built into the mountainside, so there is definitely some climbing involved, and we always want guests to know that before they arrive. The village itself is indeed very small, which is a big part of its charm and tranquility. For guests who want to explore the lake extensively, a car can certainly be convenient, although it isn’t essential, as Brienno is also connected by bus and ferry to many of the larger towns around the lake. Dining options in the village are limited, so exploring neighboring towns for meals can also be part of the fun! Thank you again for choosing Chalet Lilia for your Lake Como stay. Sitting in the garden with a book and listening to the church bells sounds just about perfect to us. October is such a beautiful time to be on Lake Como. The villages are peaceful, the summer crowds have disappeared, and the fall colors around the lake make everything feel even more magical.
