Nice, quiet location with a short drive to many beaches and restaurants. It was great to have designated parking and a garage. The AC works well and cools quickly, but is quite loud.

There were a couple maintenance issues before we arrived, and those were communicated with us and taken care of promptly. The beds were comfortable. The house was in a convenient location for all we needed, and the beds were comfortable.

Booked this for a crew of workers that had a job in Laguna Beach. Conveniently located for our team and a comfortable spot to rest heads between shifts. Unfortunately we weren't there to enjoy Dana Point but our stay was nonetheless enjoyable. We mistakenly stayed an extra night and the owner was very gracious about the mistake. Thank you!!

This is a great condo with a paved courtyard in the back. It was perfect for the baby to play in while the adults visited. The place was perfectly clean and well stocked with everything we expected. Groceries and coffee were about a 15 minute walk away. We only used air conditioning if we were going to be home for a while, otherwise opening the windows and screen door provided a nice breeze. It was a great value and made our vacation so pleasant.

We stayed in this place for 1 week. It was a family trip. The house was perfect for us. Evelything was very clean. The beds are ver confortable. The kitchen was full equiped. There was a problem with wifi conection, but the host assisted us very wickly and the problem was solved by the next day. The Neighborhood was very nice, the beach is 5-10 minutes by car, and It’s only a 5-minute drive to restaurants and shops.

This property felt like a budget vacation rental. Within about a day there was a major leak from the air conditioner to the base of he stairs. The kids kept slipping in puddles while we waited for it to be repaired. The manager did work to repair it quickly and sent us extra towels. It was difficult to cook here. The grill didn’t light properly and wasn’t easy to use. The cutting boards were all plastic. Pans were all non stick pans. The French press was plastic with a crack in it. Knives had some sort of black coating on them. No scissors. The lack of a vacuum was very difficult due to the sand brought in from beach days. All the boogie boards were broken. There were beach chairs and working umbrella. We couldn’t find any lights for the patio to sit out at night. One lamp or light bulb didn’t work. Most lights are blue lights. No curtains over the blinds meant we had a lot of light shining in at night and in the morning. We had 7 people staying here which I wouldn’t recommend due to the fact that there is only one bath/shower. The location was great but the house did not feel luxurious at all.

The pros: nice size condo, well stocked kitchen, lg dining table, outdoor space, convenient location, plenty of parking, comfortable beds, 1.5 bathrooms, beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler, boogie boards, a pack n playThe cons: having lived in DP myself for many years, the location is not in a desirable neighborheood - but NOT unsafe. The price reflects this. The Internet was unreliable and slow and info given to log in was incorrect. Communication was slow. It's a great spot for a girls or guys trip, people with older kids, or adults only. The tile floor made it hard with a 7 m/o and a 3 yr old, but easy to sweep up sand. It feels and looks like a bachelor pad, it could use a few homey touches. There were exposed cords everywhere, pictures clearly had been moved, but the walls left with big holes. You can see some effort, but could use more. The patio furniture outside is lower quality than what is listed online, so that was a bit of a disappointment.A few simple improvements I would recommend: placing a basket out with a clean kitchen sponge, extra paper towels, dish towels, higher quality trash bags, extra toilet paper in each bathroom etc. Making sure there's light bulbs in all the lamps-there wasn't, and working batteries in the remotes-there wasn't. Lastly the dishwasher is covered in soap film and smells really bad. It needs a proper cleaning. We did not use it because of this.

Two weeks in Dana Point

The property has many maintenance issues. The location is heavily residential and there are many vehicles. The units are clean and nice, but the television is Netflix only. The pool and gym are down the road at 24 hr fitness. Maintenance issues aren't responded to promptly and usually take several days to gain attention. There are many beach items, such as boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. There are two private garages plus two outdoor parking places.

Gary very unusual. He clogged the sink and tried to blame it on us (hence the “maintenance issues”). It was stuffed full of carrots and potatoes so it was either intentional or gross negligence. He was harassing the manager every hour with new complaints that didn’t make sense. One of his complaints was that there weren’t enough plates. When the manager brought him more plates she found there were actually plenty of plates already there. When she showed Gary the plates that were already there he acted as if he knew already. That’s when we knew he was making stuff up so we stopped responding to him.

Worst stay EVER

I don’t have enough time in the day to tell you about this most horrific experience. Came from NJ with my sister and Mom(senior) to visit a sister that lives in the area. I had to phone the host at 4:45 for instructions and at first she didn’t even know who I was and that I was due to check in.. that should have been a red flag from the start. It actually went downhill from there. We couldn’t stay the 1st night due to the uncleanliness of the place.. contacted the host and they order the cleaning services to return the next day to clean again (we have pictures). Just a few points of interest we reluctantly returned the next day (yet again bringing in all our luggage for a 2nd time) and it was better.. at least we thought. My sister refused to stay here so it was just me and my mom. Beds were horrible(squeaky) air in the rooms turned off and on all night.. noisy. The next day we noticed tiny ants in different parts of the house… kitchen counter.. around the tub.. on one of the beds..and coming in through the sink in the master. They had raid in the cabinet so I masked up and sprayed all around(had to have my mom leave the property). We did actually sleep here 3 of the 8 nights due to unavailability at local hotels and the expense. This is just a few of the horrific experiences we incurred at this property. I will be registering a complaint and would like to be compensated in some way.

We believe these guests were making stuff up and being extremely dramatic unreasonable. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and are known for it. We’ve hosted thousands of guests over many years and have hundreds of 5 star reviews on Airbnb. We’ve gotten good at recognizing when people are acting strange. We believe VRBO agrees with us as they only asked to send the cleaners to calm them down which we promptly did. The guests were complaining that the shower and number of bathrooms were different than listed but they’re exactly as pictured, among many other things that didn’t make sense. We think this may have been some type of manipulation to break the cancellation policy. You can see the reviews immediately before and after this guest are glowing 5 star reviews.

Nice accommodations

Property was as described, but a long walk to downtown and any restaurants. Big plus is the garage as it is in a very populated area with no street parking available. Extras such as cooler and beach chairs was much appreciated. Property owner was very responsive and addressed some maintenance issues. Dana Point is a beautiful area.

Great spot for families

We stayed for a week on a family vacation, 3 adults and 2 little kids, and were overall happy and would recommend this place. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us, nice features (TVs in every room; board games, books, and movies available; beach stuff in the garage), and a great location (5 minute drive to the harbor, a short walk to the trolley stop on Golden Lantern).

Hi Dawn, Thanks again for staying with us. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are confident that the damages came from your group. We check the unit immediately after each guest to prepare for the next guest who arrives later that same day and it’s unlikely we missed this damage. The damage looked like someone stepped on the inside of the fridge to reach a higher shelf. Perhaps one of your children caused this damage and is not admitting to it. Best Regards, Shore Thing, Dana Point

Great Dana Point beach rental

We enjoyed our stay at this rental in Dana Point. The check-in process was easy and hassle-free, and the location is safe and ideal - a short drive to beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, anything you could walk. The property is stocked with thoughtful amenities - plenty of towels, extra bedding, restaurant and local area guides, and even beach supplies like chairs and boogie boards. The host is super responsive, as well. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Dana Point.
