The Dugout- Proposal Rock Inn Unit #128

Neskowin is a walker’s paradise, whether you’re strolling through the quaint village, beach-combing your way down the shoreline, or heading to the Hawk Creek Café for wood-fired pizza.

It’s all in easy reach of The Dugout, a single-level ground-floor condo that fronts on Hawk Creek and boasts views of Proposal Rock and the Pacific Ocean. Its queen suite has an extra twin bed, a microwave, a mini-fridge and a TV, making this home an easy space to share with guests. The living room has a traditional sofa and chairs, a large flat-screen TV, and a gas fireplace; the dining table looks out over the creek to the ocean. A beautifully updated kitchen has a glass-tile backsplash, stainless-steel appliances and a pretty quartz breakfast bar for informal dining. A balcony over the creek has a bistro table and chairs perfect for a glass of wine as you watch the sun set behind Proposal Rock.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was immaculate and super cute/comfy! Beach access is not “direct” but very easy once you know where to go. You must leave the parking lot and go across the bridge to get to the path (about a 2 min walk). It’s very close but we walked the opposite way at first so it took a bit to figure it out. The Provision store in the parking lot is very nice and has great breakfast items! The Hawk Creek cafe in the parking lot is also very nice- service there was great! We were able to get a drink to go that we enjoyed on the porch. We had debated staying in Lincoln City and after seeing that area we feel we hit the jackpot with our cute little quiet condo in Neskowin. We easily traveled north to Ecola state park and as far south at Depoe Bay from this property. Everything about our stay was perfect just wished we had more time! The ONLY improvement that I feel could be made is the addition of a deadbolt lock to the door however the area is very safe and quiet so we didn’t feel unsafe- it just felt odd to have a regular lock and no way to secure the door more for when you’re sleeping.

The floors were very dirty and the carpet needs a thorough cleaning. They left us a used kitchen sponge in our set of dish/laundry pods which was gross. The screens were missing from the windows in the living room. The closet door in the entry way was broken when we arrived, I contacted the management company to let them know it needs to be fixed. They were quick to respond about this issue and offered to send someone if it was urgent. There are no hand towels for the bathrooms or kitchen which was inconvenient. A broom would have been nice to be able to sweep up sand that inevitably gets tracked in. If you are staying more than a few days, make sure to pack trash bags for yourself. There are a lot of improvements that could be made to make this better worth the cost. Overall, it was fine but for the price we paid I would've expected it to be cleaner upon arrival. If I were the owner of this unit I would not be very happy with whoever is doing the cleaning.

The missing hand towels and broom, the dirty floors and the incomplete soap supply kit are things you should not have needed to worry about during your vacation and I can promise you this is being address with the housekeeping team to prevent any recurrence. The maintenance team has repaired the door and will look into adding screens in the living room windows. We appreciate the thoughtful feedback and will use it to improve.

Great place

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay here. The Murphy bed was great to use and put away during the day. Wish there was some ceiling fans to circulate and cool off the space since there was no AC and we were there during the heat wave. We brought our own fan and it helped, with having the windows open. Great place and location.

Coast is always fun

Great location. Nicely remodeled property. Had one issue and the handy was there quickly and fixed the issue. No secure internet connection is always a concern

Beautiful

It was very nice and we'll be back There was a moldy coffee filter In the coffee pot and the neighbors across the way were rude in that they slammed their door so many times it was startling but other than that it was clean and beautiful . Hawks creek cafe was convenient and the provisions . Are their laundry facilities ? I couldn't find them Thank you we will be back

A super cute one bedroom unit with a murphy bed!Everything was very clean! The decor was very nice!One of the recliners didn't work well. As the feet of the chair, wouldn't stay in place and kept lowering, on it's own.The beds were very comfortable! The kitchen was stocked with everything I needed to make a meal!The oceanview was amazing from the porch!The people upstairs were very noisy, especially at 2:30am. But that has no bearing on my rating.As everything else was just perfect! We would highly recommend the stay!!

Annual End-of-Summer Trip

This comfortable unit worked well for us with our 3 grandchildren. The additional daybed made it very workable for sleeping arrangements. The convenience to beach access is appreciated when you are lugging all the beach gear! The kitchen was in need of better (adequate) pots & pans and a colander. A hairdryer would be a good idea, too.

Beautiful spot, modern kitchen

I had a wonderful time! Everything was quite comfortable, especially the reclining couch in front of the gas fireplace. From the chair or the table you can see the ocean, watching tides come in and out. My favorite thing was the kitchen which appeared recently remodeled. It was well stocked with equipment, but make sure to bring everything else (no salt, pepper, oil, etc.). Local photography and fun art made it feel homey while very clean housekeeping gave it that desirable hotel feel. I’d stay here again.

Disappointing housekeeping. Almost felt like whoever had stayed previously had just walked out. Beds were roughly “made” (see photos). Trash overflowing from previous guests. And a stack of used take out recycling on counter. When someone rents a weekend space, they anticipate/expect it to be all the way clean, a blank slate. Nice enough condo, but shoddy housekeeping made it feel less than welcome.

Family Vacation

We enjoyed staying at Proposal Rock in very much. It was a beautiful location and very easy to access. My children loved playing on the beach and exploring the area. The room was a great location to explore the Oregon coast. The team at Meredith Rentals were easy to contact and helpful. The only thing I would note is the room could of been cleaned a bit better. When we told the rental company of the mess they offered to come over and clean up right away. The rooms could also benefit from a window fan because it did get stuffy in the rooms. It could also use a blackout curtain in the room that faces the parking lot. The lights shine right into the bedroom. Besides these small things the place was very nice.
