About this property

MULBERRY TREE COTTAGE With Private Pool And Valley Views (1 Bedroom, Sleeps 4)

Mulberry Tree Cottage
This is the original Kohilis family house and is over one hundred years old (built in 1905). It is an old stone country house, which has been recently restored, to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation.
It has large terrace with mulberry trees and pergola to give shade, and wooden benches and table for outdoor dining. To one side is a stone built barbecue, and sink. A swimming pool is located below and close to the cottage with further gardens.
The house is two storied.
The main door leads into the ground floor living room which has traditional fireplace.
A few steps lead you to the kitchen which has exposed wooden beams and is fully equipped.
A side doors opens out onto the outdoor kitchen area.
To the side of the kitchen is the bathroom which has bath/shower, WC and marble-topped sink.
An inside wooden staircase leads to the lovely air-conditioned master bedroom where there is a Skopelitian platform bed and a fireplace.

It is full of character with elegant interior decors, entirely suited to the gloriously peaceful rural setting. They are set on the hillside overlooking the Potami valley, on land that has been in the Kohilis family for over 100 years. The Potami area is a part of the island rich in water with plentiful springs, and as a result covered with plain trees and orchards. The whole area provides many wonderful walks, with paths leading through the mountains, past picturesque chapels and other cottages, on down to the coast. By crossing through a wooden bridge, you are entering to the property, of 15 acres, which is covered with olive, plum, walnut, cherry, chestnut and almond trees, and a paved road leads you to the cottages.
The location is the most beautiful in the middle of the island, in a green enviroment with many springs around. All cottages are surrounded by many trees and plants, the pool and sunbathing area, composing a very secluded and peaceful place. The perfect escape. A beautiful place in a green environment, romantic get away.

Very difficult to find a single fault with this lovely rural villa,.
If you are looking for total peace and quiet, surrounded by fruit trees and rich woodlands, with a small pool to cool off in, and a large terrace with outdoor kitchen, look no further.

Peaceful and beautiful retreat
This place is every bit as beautiful as the photos show. Totally secluded. So relaxing to sit outside - always somewhere comfortable in the shade or the sun to read and watch the lizards! Pipitsa was the perfect host: responsive, helpful, friendly, welcoming... arranged car hire for us, left us a bottle of wine, met us off the ferry, advised us on boat rental, provided mosquito repellent - what more could you ask for? Cooking in the outside kitchen was really good fun and taking a midnight dip in the pool to watch the stars (and bats) was wonderful. The whole property struck the perfect balance between simple, stylish and comfortable. I wouldn't have changed a thing (apart from maybe one or two more windows protected by mosquito nets). Would highly recommend. Thank you, Pipitsa!

Beautiful, peaceful and welcoming.
We are just sat by the beautiful pool on our last day at Mulberry Tree Cottage and I couldn't wait to the leave a review. We have had a wonderful week of peace and quiet in this beautiful cottage. The view is spectacular and the cottage and gardens are perfect for a restful trip. Mulberry Tree is the perfect distance from the main town of Skopelos and the beautiful beaches on the island (our favourites are Kastani and Agnondas). The lovely owners arranged car hire for us along with a travel cot for our 1 year old and a car seat. The owners have been so welcoming from the moment I first messaged, to meeting us from the boat and the whole way through our holiday. The pool, BBQ and seating area are so private and relaxing and the cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We would highly recommend Skopelos and especially Mulberry Tree Cottage. Thank you for making our first family holiday so special. Anna, Nick and Willow xx

Idyllic Romantic Hideaway on Beautiful Skopelos
We spent a blissful ten days at Mulberry Tree and couldn't have been happier. The setting, the views, the weather, the privacy, the friendly welcome and the beautiful island of Skopelos, well we just fell in love with the place all over again. Yes it's rural and rustic, don't expect the Ritz, but it has it's own magic and we loved it. The cottage is basic and traditional, but clean and welcoming and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bedroom is spacious with an amazing wooden vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, and has a triple aspect if you count the door to the outside steps. Stunning views in all directions. The bed on a stage is so comfortable and the bedding soft as silk. We slept really well and woke to the most amazing birdsong. The kitchen is quaint and clean and has more than we needed for our stay. We tended to eat out most of the time as there is so much choice and variety from beachside tavernas to rooftop restaurants, and it needn't be expensive if you're careful. We went in the pool every day, it's small but enough to put in some lengths if you're keeping fit. The bath with handheld shower could do with updating, but it's more than adequate, hot water plentiful, and the towels are fab. There is plenty of room on the large sink surround for storing toiletry bags and toiletries. Gianni and Pipitsa the owners are wonderful and their thoughtful surprises of breakfast hot pies and home made cherry sauce to take home were so lovely. We'd love to go back there, it's a very special place, and we're totally smitten with the Island. With the two neighbouring cottages a short walk away, but not too close ( you can barely see them) it would be a great place for a group of friends or family to go, where couples prefer some privacy but could all gather together at times. I wouldn't recommend it for families with young children because of the steep walls and open sided pool, but for couples wanting a beautiful and secluded romantic hideaway it's perfect. Delightful property
We had a wonderful week at Mulberry Tree. This is a well built barn/farmhouse conversion. Very comfortable and well equipped. Immaculately clean. With almost wrap around terraces you can follow the sun or the shade all day. The outside furniture is of excellent quality and the pool just divine. (It is generally very difficult to find a private pool in a property for 2) The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is situated in a very peaceful location. It is only a short drive to Skopelos town, Panormos Beach and all the other resorts. Car essential. Would definitely recommend this property to couples looking for a relaxing break. And to the nitwits who cancelled because of the drop in sterling at the time of Brexit - you don't know what you missed.

Giannis Kohilis a joiner. Born in Chicago in 1960, moved in Skopelos in 1965. Married to Pipitsa who is born in Volos and has been in Skopelos for the last 30 years, being a bank employee. We have 2 sons, Giorgos who studies Physics and Vangelis who loves playing bouzouki.
My father transfered to me the property in 1990, which had been in my family for over 150 years. It consisted in a piece of land with olive trees and an old cottage, built in 1905. Me and my wife renovated carefully the cottage (Mulberry tree) in 1992 and built the other 2 cottages in 2001. We have designed the external and interior features and taken care personally in furnishing and decorating all of them, in simplicity, to improve them from a family holiday place, to a spacious and comfortable resting lodge.

Why they chose this property

The property belongs to my family for about 2 centuries and the location is the most beautiful in the middle of the island, in a green environment with many springs around and a small river, where the old times the family passed the summer holidays.
We had spent many memorable times at the old cottage, with the family and many friends, enjoying the beauty of the countryside, so we decided to rent the property with the idea of sharing all the wonderful experiences Skopelos has to offer.
One may take short or long walks in the natural landscape, with paths leading through the hills, pass by picturesque chappels, other cottages and many springs.

What makes this property unique

Olive fields and forested land extend to the right and left and above our land ensuring seclusion. All 3 cottages are surrounded by many trees and plants, the pool and sunbathing area, composing a very secluded and peaceful place.
You have the company of the cicadas in the daytime.
Early in the morning and in the afternoons you can enjoy the delight chirping of the nightingales.
On clear and cloudless nights, you can enjoy stargazing in an absolutely absent wind atmosphere.
Tranquillity at its best but just a short distance from all amenities and beaches.
A beautiful place in pure nature, total privacy, deep quiet.
Friendly for kids, ideal for people looking for a romantic getaway, the perfect escape. We personally take care of the cottages, to ensure relaxing holidays.
