Maison de maitre situated in a lovely hamlet close to the historic medieval volcanic village of Usson which is approximately 3 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot.

This beautiful French Maison de maitre contains a large flowered garden with heated swimming pool (from1june until 1 October). Barns and outside seating areas containing BBQ and shaded areas for those hot summer days. Set in its own grounds of over an hectare of land surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and views of the Puy de Sancy.

A variety of local footpaths from the house lead to the local restaurant/bar at Usson and to local supermarkets /bars at Sauxillanges. 5 minites by car (variety of shops and petrole station).

The historic abbatiale town of Issoire , 10 minutes from the house, offers transport links, a weekly market, new swimming complex, spas, canoeing and jet ski centre together with a circuit for racing and all the usual sport facilities. Bowling centre and the cinema is situated close to the town. In addition it has a large number of supermarkets selling local produce including the well known Auvergne cheeses and wines from local producers .

Local ski resorts, Super besse and Montdore are within easy reach of the house with skiing for all ages and abilities, ski fond and a tobogganing course , overhead zip wire, cables car and funicular rides to the summit, fortified medieval villages, chateaux, spa centres, animal parks, hot air ballooning and paragliding from the top of the highest volcano in the region, the Puy de Dome.

The city of Clermoint Ferrand with its airport, rail and road links is only 40 minutes drive away. This medieval city is home to the famous ASM rugby team and Michelin.

Flights twice weekly from Clermont to Stansted during March to October are very popular with locals and tourists alike.

Renowned for its spa centres, great cycle pistes (the Tour de France arrival in July 2020) and incredible walking opportunities are just many of the outdoor activities that this area offers. The Auvergne remains an undiscovered paradise !

Can I give it 6 stars? The house is wonderful, the view is stunning, the pool is glorious and the hosts are awesome. We didn't want to leave. We were a family of 8 adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. The sun room was wonderful in the mornings and the pigsty was great for lunch. The walk to Usson was a perfect distance and the view from the top was lovely.

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine dans cette location. la vue est superbe; la maison correspond à la description et nous avons été reçus avec une grande gentillesse par Anita et son mari. C’était la canicule ! Heureusement la piscine était là et nous en avons bien profité ! La veille de notre départ nous avons enfin pu voir le lac et profiter des activités dont nous avaient parlé nos hôtes et nous en sommes revenus ravis ! En conclusion : excellente semaine un peu chaude ! Nous reviendrons avec plaisir. Michèle

We are an English family who have been living in the Auvergne for many years and adore this region. Being keen cyclists and skiers we fell in love with the Auvergne and brought our family up in this area. We are a bilingual family and can give any advice necessary to future visitors.

Why they chose this property

Ideally situated for walking and cycling holidays or just simply relaxing by the pool area and taking in the fabulous views. The numerous amount of wildlife and birds in this area makes it idylic for birdwatchers and animal lovers. Just ten minutes drive from the market town of issoire and the A75 motorway which heads to the south of france . Montpellier and the beach area is approximately 300 kms south of Issoire or three hours drive.

What makes this property unique

Private setting with fabulous views and private heated pool (from 1 June to 1 October) area. Property renovated to a high standard with lots of space and amenities. Such a peaceful area perfect for cycling and walking. Local restaurant within walking distance and shops and amenities 4 minutes by car .
