About this property

Historic cottage in stunning coastal location

In a spectacular position, close to the shores of Loch Linnhe with panoramic views over the loch to the mountains of Kingairloch beyond, this charming semi-detached cottage is part of the original ferryhouse dates from c. 1870. With a fascinating historical background, the ferryhouse has been sympathetically modernised to create a holiday home of unique character with many original features. This 2 bedroom cottage has been recently refurbished and has a lounge and a sun lounge with fantastic views over Loch Linnhe. There is a double and twin bedroom for up to four guests. The bathroom has both bath and an electric shower. There is off road parking space for 2 cars There is an enclosed garden to the front and rear where a path leads down onto the beach. Situated 50M from the local store and within walking distance of two award winning restaurants, this accommodation offers an outstanding base from which to explore the local attractions of Argyll.

The very picturesque village of Port Appin is an ideal base for exploring and Oban is within a 40 minute drive. Day trips can be enjoyed to Glencoe and Fort William or by taking the passenger ferry from Port Appin across to the island of Lismore. Cycle and boat hire can be arranged locally and other activities include fishing, pony trekking and hill-walking. The village shop is 30 yards from the property and there are two excellent restaurants nearby.

Comfortable property in superb location
The property is a cosy, comfortable base for which to explore the wonderful area in and around Port Appin. The views of Loch Linnie from the sun lounge are fantastic (especially when the otters are about). Overall, a great place to relax and unwind.

Incredible views
The property has amazing sea views. The cottage is tired and in real need of renovation, although some had been carried out. The aspect was fenomenal, but the property needed work.

Cottage with a view
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, we found that all the facilities, equipment provided was sufficient for us, and that the location was good, within easy reach of both Glencoe to the north and Oban to the south. What really made it for us though was the absolutely splendid view of the loch from the sun room and garden at the back. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset over the mountains and spent lots of time just drinking in the view. Whilst we were here, we saw Sea Otters and Herons in the loch, were visited by Deer and a Hedgehog, and there was plenty of bird spotting happening as well.

Home from home
Spacious, full of character, views to die for - bad weather not a problem because it’s difficult to tear yourself away from the conservatory watching the wildlife(otters included) and the constantly changing views. Great for kayaking/cycling/walking from the doorstep This was our 4th stay in The Old Ferry House and hopefully not our last
