About this property

Hot Tub Heaven in a Village in Devon, close to Beaches, Blue Flag & Dog Friendly

Come and switch off from the world, in our beautiful Manuka Cottage, perfect for families with children and pets with our Hot Tub and private, enclosed garden leading out from a beautifully maintained cottage.
Snuggle up for the good times and let Manuka Cottage take you away for the perfect wintery weekend or getaway summer escape with the luxury of our Blue Whale seven seater spa with crystal clear water, maintained at 38 degrees.
Nestled in the beautiful village of Stoke Gabriel we have the best of both worlds in Devon, being close to the River Dart and a 10 minute walk from 2 Village Pubs, a restaurant and gourmet cafe on The Dart and also being a 10 minute drive from Torbay’s Goodrington and Broadsands beaches and the many attractions of Torbay, such as Splashdown, Paignton Zoo, the South Devon Coast Path, Agatha Christie's home at Greenway and the Steam Railway. We have so much to do right on our doorstep!
Bubble your troubles away with a glass of bubbly in our gorgeous 7 seater Blue Whale Spa – either under the stars or after a hard day crabbing with the kids. Children and pets are safe in our fully enclosed private garden, which is astro-turfed, so you can really wind down.
Our comfortable living room boasts a 55" Sky Glass TV complete with Netflix and huge Lounge Co sofa and comfortable Cotswold Co chair. This opens onto the garden so you can literally open the house up in the summer and let the family enjoy!
The dining room, off the kitchen, has a six seater table, is fully heated and has board games for the family for an evening of good times after dinner.
We have a well-equipped kitchen, with everything you’d expect complete with a dishwasher, Tassimo coffee-machine with pods, perfect for those Sunday mornings..there’s an armchair in the corner, so just put your feet up with your mug and grab that book you’ve been meaning to read.
Out and About
Fall in love with idyllic Stoke Gabriel with our two proper old villagey pubs, the charming Church House Inn which has a children's park over the wall and The Castle which does a gorgeous Sunday Roast. We have a village shop for your Sunday paper or hot sausage roll or take a stroll down to the beautiful River Dart where you can hire out canoes or the kids can go crabbing and visit to the River Shack café perched on the riverside. The River Shack serves gourmet burgers, home made cakes and children's food. Visit the charming churchyard – here you will find one of the oldest Yew Trees in Britain, said to date back 1000 years. Local folklore says you will be granted a wish if you walk backwards around the tree seven times – worth a try! There are two lovely parks for the children and it’s well worth popping in at Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham Vinyard or Hunts Cider Farm for a drink or bite to eat. We have a Fish n Chip van on Thursdays – For The Haddock It!
For adventure seekers and lovers of the outdoors, Torbay is a ten-minute drive away, offering many (17!) beaches and coves where the natural beauty can be explored with open countryside walks across Elberry Cove and the South Devon Coast Path and with the many water sports for hire and excursions with paddleboarding, kayaking, coasteering, sea fishing, jet skiing.
We have so many attractions in Torbay which include the Steam Railway along the beach fronts to Kingswear, Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe Model Village, the Vue Cinema, Paignton Pier, Splashdown Water Park (the largest water park in the UK), Brixham Fish Market and Restaurants, Torquay and Brixham Marina’s and Agatha Christie’s former home at Greenway. There is also a buzzing nightlife in Torquay with funky bars and places to eat on the Quayside and beachside.
Dartmouth is just over the river, a pretty boutique town on the banks of the River Dart with Woodlands Theme Park nearby and Exeter with Crealy Theme Park for the thrill seekers. Dartmoor, wonderful for wild open walks and meals by a roaring pub firesides is 30 minutes away and Totnes, a historic hippy castle town is 10 minutes drive on the way to Plymouth, a 40-minute drive away.
There is so much to do in our lovely part of the world, we’d love to help you make the most of it.

Fantastic Stay!!
We stayed at Manuka cottage for 5 weeks, of all the places we have stayed over the years Deb is by far the best host we have experienced, very friendly and attentive to all our needs. The property itself is beautiful, spacious, providing everything that we needed, very comfortable beds and based within a quiet area. The biggest perk would have to be the hottub which as a family we enjoyed very much. Over all a luxury experience and we would definitely come back again at some point. Thanks for everything Deb, hope to see you again soon 😊

Fantastic property
Wonderful welcome as house was decorated with Christmas tree and decorations, a cream tea and a bottle of Prosecco. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the owner was very attentive to all our needs. Comfortable rooms with an amazing TV which was much better than our own!

Much needed rest & relaxation
We had a lovely week in the great property. Traditional English September weather with a mix of rain, sun and gale force winds, but no matter as it allowed us to simply enjoy our surroundings. Everything from the Sky Glass TV, the luxurious hot-tub, good Wi-Fi, and comfy beds and furniture was spot on and made for a very relaxing time. Village itself is lovely with the absence of street lights making for a spectacular night sky. The River Shack, a 10 min walk, was a lovely spot with good, reasonably priced food and good beer. Was a good base for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Dog friendly beach at Goodrington was just a15 min drive away and much enjoyed by Duffy. Whilst we didn’t get to meet Deb, she checked in regularly to make sure everything was ok, which it was. Will not hesitate to book again when we next return to Devon.

I came to live in Devon from Berkshire 15 years ago and have raised my family here. I love the outdoors, anything to do with the water and living in Devon, appreciate the amazing things we have to do here right which are right on our doorstep.
I'd love to help incorporate some of the wonderful beaches, activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking and places for familie/ couples to go for the day and lovely places to eat in my Guests holidays.

Why they chose this property

Manuka Cottage is located in the village of Stoke Gabriel on the outskirts of Torbay, on the River Dart. The village loves families and puts events on for children like Carnival Week, zorbing on the Dart, Firework night with Live Music etc. There are 2 lovely pubs and a River Shack on the Dart where children can crab and play on the green.
The property itself is situated on a small character cut-de-sac with a park and has an enclosed, safe garden which is astro-turfed with a Hot Tub. The house has recently been refurbished with new furnishings and it has been redecorated throughout. We try and ensure our guests have a relaxing and fun stay. There is a Cocktail Bar next to the Hot Tub, board games and toys and books for the children.

What makes this property unique

Benefits include the enclosed garden with the Hot Tub for 7 and astro turfed lawn which ensures the garden is usable all year round and is safe for children and pets. You can open up the house and know where they are. There is a Cocktail Bar next to the Hot Tub which provides a lot of fun in the evenings.
