About this property

Newly Renovated, Cozy 1920 Camden Village Home on Pearl St.

This classic Maine farmhouse converted a post-and-beam barn structure for the one-of-a-kind kitchen, is such a cozy home for your mid-coast Maine vacation. Freshly painted inside, super-clean. New furniture, mattresses, linens. Two full bathrooms have been completely renovated, one has a large soaking tub waiting just for you!

Incredible natural light bathes every room, giving multiple places to curl up with a book, play games, or simply relax after your days of adventure. The enclosed back porch is for that perfect cup of coffee or cocktail, and the semi-covered deck overlooks a private backyard with outdoor firepit. The reading room has a wonderful Vermont Castings woodstove, so comforting on a chilly night! The hand-made farmhouse table sits adjacent to the ample kitchen with a vintage Monson-Burmah slate sink, use the full kitchen to prepare meals at your pleasure. Use the five burner gas cooktop, convection wall oven or the new gas BBQ outside with Adirondack chairs ready for outdoor lounging. Washer and drier are on the bedroom level, very convenient. Air conditioning in each bedroom keeps the home comfortable. 58” TV is ready for your streaming services, great Wi-Fi if you need to Zoom or binge-watch.

The stairs in homes of this era are slightly steep, but we recently upgraded the railing to proper height. For a 1920 house, it’s in great shape, but has the “character” original wood floors one would expect. The home is truly one of a kind, very inviting and comfortable. This home has high ceilings, unusual for this era: 9'-0" ceilings in the first floor living areas in the original home, kitchen is closer to 8' with the barn beams, and the ceilings are 8'-0" upstairs in the bedrooms (except where sloped at the edges - see pictures).

This home sits on Pearl Street, a prime neighborhood and a five minute walk to downtown. Three parking spaces. What's perfect about Camden is its central location, excellent foodie restaurants, access to multiple sailing adventures, and variety of outdoor activities. Plus the community is so nice! We request Saturday to Saturday rentals. Welcome to our home away from home, it is perfect for family vacations or getaways.

Comfortable mid coast home
My wife and I had a wonderful week’s stay working from this house. It was convenient for exploring the midcoast area of Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Lincolnville, etc. as well. Quiet neighborhood. Everything we needed!

Family Christmas Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely revamped cottage. Had everything we needed and was able to prepare home cooked meals for Christmas. The owner reached out before our arrival to welcome us and was very responsive. Camden is a great little town and in the middle of all our favorite coastal Maine places. Extra points for being right down the road from the Camden Snow Bowl - the kids had a blast snowboarding and skiing our last day! Oh, and the water in the bathrooms get hot and stay hot! Loved it!

Labor Day Week Getaway
Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and week following with our family. The house is well appointed in a quiet and convenient village location within walking distance to Camden's downtown and harbor. You can't beat Camden as a base to explore the Midcoast, Acadia and beyond. Highly recommend this property and its owner for your next trip to Camden, we're already planning ours. Best Andy

We are empty-nesters, love to travel, have been coming to coastal Maine for 30 years. We are totally charmed by Camden, and jumped at the opportunity to renovate this very special home, for our friends and guests. We also are giving our best effort to make the home comfortable and welcoming, for your enjoyment. As a family, we have done vacation rentals in many places, seen some wonderful properties, and some not-so-great. We have tried to make this a property we would want to stay in... because we will also be here. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Why they chose this property

There are many rental homes in this region, but many require you to drive if you need anything. We chose this location in the Camden Village because you don't have to drive if you don't want to! Great restaurants (make reservations early in the summer *Foodies* there are many better than what the VRBO Camden guide recommends). Beyond outdoor activities and enjoying the town, we also love to read, and depending on the time of day, there are many different spots to cozy up and escape in the home. The enclosed porch is magic.

What makes this property unique

This home has great flow for the living spaces, and natural light throughout. Also there are many charming details that are unique to a home built with hand-tools in 1920. The furnishings are contemporary, clean-lined and very comfortable. The home just feels so nice to be in. Pearl Street is also a beautiful street, such a lovely walk into the center of town, restaurants or Laite Beach which is such a great walk through the neighborhood any time of year. Don't miss the opportunity to view Camden / Rockport from a kayak or sailboat, take a sunset sail or book a few days on a schooner!
