The prettiest seaside town in Maine is yours to explore on foot when you escape to this 19th-century home near the very heart of Camden. Built in 1865, this home is full of local history and contemporary comforts - all just a few minutes' stroll from Main Street and the harbor.

This two-story home is perfectly placed for your explorations of Midcoast Maine. Within Camden itself, you can charter an excursion on a traditional wooden schooner, climb or drive to the summit of Mt. Battie, and dine at fantastic restaurants before taking in performances at the Camden Opera House. In the surrounding area, tee off at Samoset Golf Course (eight miles), tour the renowned Farnsworth Art Museum (nine miles), or attend one of Rockland's famous summer festivals. This is also a prime location for day trips, to charming Belfast (18 miles) or Bar Harbor (77 miles) up the coast.

Stepping inside, you'll be enchanted by the seamless blend of vintage charm and modern amenities. Amidst such classic details as richly hued wood floors is a sleek and well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, butcher-block countertops, and both a breakfast bar and a dining area.

Spend summer days outside on the deck, barbecuing on the gas grill and dining in the shade of the umbrella. Back inside, you'll find both bedrooms upstairs, each of which features air conditioning and a smart TV. High-speed WiFi and a private washer/dryer are provided for your convenience as well.

Close to Town
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the house, particularly the comfort and privacy of 2 bedrooms to come back to after a long day of activities. We liked having a the washer/dryer combo right off the kitchen. It’s listed a “coin operated” but was not a commercial unit and was free of charge. When we first entered the house, we were met with the smell of mildew. We opened what windows we could on the first floor which helped. The smell was only on the first floor. It appears there may have been flooding in the crawl space under the house. Through the window outside, we saw a fan down in that area. We were mostly out and had a short stay, so it worked but I would hope the mildew issue is resolved for the future.

Convenient, charming house with modern appliances
Charming old 1860s house newly renovated with a modern kitchen, steps from Harbor Park and downtown Camden. Photos were accurate, inside is lovely antique furniture and pine floors, new appliances, including laundry. Fully equipped kitchen for a lobster dinner or whatever cooking you want. Private deck with gas grill and table and chairs. Very nice beds. Big closets and dressers for clothes. Steep stairs to bedrooms and full bath are NOT for the mobility impaired (as noted in listing). Shower could be improved with a handheld showerhead combo. A toilet only is downstairs which is good for less-mobile visitors. Noise: minor traffic noise and sump pump in basement goes on often. Not a bother, but noticable. Overall, we really liked the walkable convenience to the park (with a great view) and town, having the nice kitchen to cook in, and being in a tastefully decorated house with modern appliances.
